Compensatory Picks Announced

Star-divide

The NFL announced the compensatory picks.  The full list is right here from profootballtalk.com.  I for one am really surprised at the Cowboys' picks.  I mean, a 5 and a 6?  Really?  I thought we would be looking at worst case a 4 and a 5, and more likely two 4's for Julius Jones and Jacques Reeves.  Both signed healthy contracts and had loads of playing time and good stats for their new teams.  No use crying over spilled milk I guess.

thats what i expected

i figured if we were lucky we’d get a 4th…..i say we try and trade every pick besides these in the 5th round and lower to move up

No Surprise to Me

Or the people who read AdamJT13’s blog. He correctly predicted we’d get a fifth and a sixth for them. Which makes pretty good sense, it’s not like we lost two really top notch players.

After reading his post I was scared of getting 2 sixth round picks…I’m happy we got what we did though…I don’t doubt that fifth rounder, we did get Scandrick w/ it…hopefully our sixth turns out better than Walden did last year

I'm still scratching my head about the Walden pick...

Players drafted after Walden that would have most likely made last years roster.

C-John Sullivan
QB- Colt Brennan
SS- Dominique Barber
QB-Matt Flynn
NT-Ahtyba Rubin
WR-Paul Hubbard
OG-Don Thomas
LB-Bo Ruud
WR-Pierre Garcon
OLB-Brian Johnston
SS-Josh Barrett
FB-Peyton Hillis
SS-Chris Horton

Oh well……5 out of 6 wasn’t bad I guess…

Thats what I expected, too.

I guess we all follow AdamJT13’s fine work. Heck, if Asante Samuel brought in a 3rd, then Dallas getting a 5th & 6th for Reeves and Jules Jones is a steal.

Good post, CowboysRnumba1 – How bad would the Cowboys love to have Chris Horton or John Sullivan at this point with that 6th pick last year?

I wanted Rubin and Barber.

Cleveland barely even used Rubin last year. He would have at least saw some playing time with us.

Yeah. We probably could have cut Tank's worthless butt and played Rubin.

This is about what I'd expect I guess.

Not what I hoped for. Unbelievable that a team like the Patriots not only have 4 picks in the top 58 picks, now they’ve got another 3rd rounder so they have 2 more picks in the top 97. That’s 6 picks in the top 100. And another 5th and 6th round comp pick. Jeez….

Word.

I understand that

But when I look at the Giants getting a 3rd, it doesn’t make sense to me. I realize Gibril Wilson signed a monster contract, but he got cut a year into it. I guess I just feel like that sort of thing should count for something.

huh ? you got the numbers messed up. ?

you are wrong….revert back to Grizz’s newest posting….

you are missing our top 4th rounder which went from #97 to #101

we do not have a pick at #137

by CowboysRnumba1 on Mar 24, 2009 7:44 AM CDT reply actions

Yeah, my list wasn't updated

I think the Kitna trade messed it up. Wasn’t there a draft pick in there somewhere?
Anyway, I stand corrected and my list has been corrected as well.
