Roy Willy Gone
I know this was expected, but here's the official story. First TO and now Roy. While I don't necessarily disagree with either move, this off season feels like we are saying forget this year, we're building for the future. I hope neither of these decisions hurts us in the long run. Seems like we should be looking for some help in FA otherwise we're going to be relying on a few rookies to play big roles.

There was no "this year"
I know that cutting TO and Roy will cause a lot of people a lot of grief but you can’t say that Jerry is sacrificing this year because this team wasn’t going anywhere. For all the injuries etc. last year, there is no way the team that stunk up the final game was going to improve on its own. The brass needed to cut the fat and while both of these moves may hurt in the short term, the cowboys will be a far better “team” without these players. TO was a cancer and I am glad he is finally gone and Roy was a salary cap eating, shell of his former self who dropped bombs in interviews and allowed bombs on the field.
Adios amigos.
Wow
I was going to make a comment, then you took the words right outta my keyboard.
Well said!

I agree that these were moves that needed to be made
But I think that maybe more planning should have been done so that we wouldn’t be leaving ourselves in a sticky situation. Right now we have Hamlin, Watkins, and Brown as our safeties. Davis is a FA and may or may not come back. That means that we will have Hamlin and Watkins or Hamlin and a rookie at what is arguably one of the most important defensive positions. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t like Roy and am glad to see him gone, but I think we should have made a move in FA to shore up the position. If feels like we are cutting off our nose to spite our face.

I think we can still have a good season.
Romo will no longer have to be concerned with “who should get the ball X number of times”, and our Safety play cannot be any worse than it was last season.

if we can get a reliable safety though
This defense may finally reach its potential. it doesn’t need to be a pro bowler either. Just a guy who can cover and tackle.
