Oh my God!! The Barbarian Can Speak!

As if there was any doubt about the polarizing effect Terrell Owens had on the Dallas Cowboys locker room, his release has now compelled the ever-silent Marion Barber to speak. Barber recently broke his silence to say this about Owens' release:

"[Critics] are trying to make [Owens] into something he's not," Barber said. "I felt the same way like everybody else, but then I met the man. Once you know who he is, he's a great guy." Barber later called the move a "shock."

There is no doubt Owens has friends in this locker room. I hope everyone can deal with his release personally before team activities begin. With all the so-called "bad guys" gone this locker room may still be divided.

Barber also said this:
The Cowboys had locker room tension for much of last season, most of it surrounding Owens’ relationship with several teammates. An ESPN report said Owens was jealous of tight end Jason Witten’s relationship with quarterback Tony Romo.

Barber said the drama was too much to overcome.

“I just think during that time, the other fellas have to figure out a way to come together as one and make it work as a whole,” Barber told The News. “It starts in the locker room with any team. I firmly believe that and it’s unfortunate that we couldn’t get a hold of it.”

Meaning, the players got caught up in the media driven garbage as well...
With all the so-called “bad guys” gone this locker room may still be divided.

I can only imagine the 60-80 that actually liked TO very much, may hold the “few” haters responsible for TO’s release and will not give into the team unity thing..to be continued.

My point exactly.

Terrell Owens’ effect will outlast his stay.

please...you don't get over it....you either hate guys or you don't...

Romo, Witten, Carpenter, and Garrett won’t be getting invited to any BBQ’s anytime soon….trust.

Big Deal!

You act like everybody has to be friends. It’s a team with 60+ personalities involved. Even family members get annoyed with each other and group together with those they have the most in common.

Releasing T.O. is not the end of the world.

You guys have got to be kidding

Yeah, that makes sense. This team is going to throw away a season because they will hold a grudge over TO’s release. This is a team of professional athletes, not some high school girl’s clique. The media will do it’s best to stir up the TO drama during training camp and then get bored after a week when nobody bites.

You’re right Quincyyyyy but it won’t even take six months.

If this team wasnt affected by the media and performed like professional athletes should

TO would still be on the team

I wear a black armband because on March 5th we cut TO and our 2009 season died.

cowboys lockerroom

now that all the bad guys (mostly black) have left the cowboy lockerroom, now it ‘s all live happy ever after. nope. not going to happen. the black player in the cowboys lockerroom have seen the double standard that exist and for those cowboys fans who have their blinders on may the force be with you. brian stewart gone, jason garrett stays, ray sherman over 21 years of nfl exeperience in playcalling can’t get a sniff of a nfl job, jason garrett 4 years of nfl exeperience and receives job offers already from the ravens, falcons (turn down), rams, broncos, lions (with the help of jerry). I just can’t believe that the fans allow the media to munipulate them to not seeing what is going on. the more things stay the same the more thing remain the same, the only things that change is the faces. now that the dallas media has accomplish their goal of persuaing jerry is letting to go and to gets a pay raise out of the deal which is great. the bottom line is that romo and the so-called genius no longer has the built in execuse to cover their butts, it will be hoisting that elusive lombardi trophy in miami next february 2010 at superbowl 44 or trying to find another scapegoat to hid behind for their incompetence. an other thing now that to is gone, now all of a sudden romo is going to be this johnny unitas type quarterback that is going to lead this team to the promise land. look at romo’s background no championships at any level. what make everbody think that all of a sudden romo is going to persuade the other 52 men on this team that now he is a leader. don’t get disappointed if romo has not won a superbowl ring prior to the 2011 season.

Seriously?

Wow. That’s absurd. In TODAY’S NFL, you still think there’s some racial bias, and THAT, not TO’s obvious problems, is the reason he’s gone? TO had problems with the franchise QB, the star tight end who was way more consistent than he was, and the offensive coordinator. There’s no WAY Dallas can replace the first two on that list and be immediately effective. There was really no other alternative.

I know it’s a touchy subject, and I’m not trying to sound like a total douchebag, honestly, but it’s 2009. I’m well aware racism still exists, trust me, but I’m pretty sure I’m not being naive when I say that has nothing to do with any of the decisions to release certain players. TO was an OBVIOUS distraction.Tank had a bad attitude when he realized he was a BACK UP to a Pro Bowl player. Pacman was a serious distraction and HAD to be cut. Brian Stewart was a joke(seriously, I remember his “GRRR! I’M MAD!” speech on Hard Knocks. Thing was so awkward and ineffective it was funny). None of those were bad decisions.

Epic Fail since 1985

That Brian Stewart speech was hilarious.

I can’t believe people on this blog were buying that. That may have been the exact moment he lost this defense.

Okay.

Posts like this make me want to take time off of BTB until this TO thing settles.

Fan (and team) manipulation by media? Racism?

I’ve got crop circles to analyze.

Groan

Jason Garrett got the as OC for two reasons. 1.) Jerry saw an up and coming coach that had a history with this team as a long time, well liked player and 2.) the only way he could get him onboard was to hire him as at least the OC. Those were the stipulations set down by Miami’s ownership, who had Garrett under contract.
Sherman seems like a helluva wide receiver coach. Maybe he hasnt gotten a head coaching job because he hasn’t impressed people enough in his interviews to think he would make a good head coach. NFL history is littered with great position coaches who didnt make good coordinators and great coordinators who couldn’t head coach to save their lives, and those were the ones even given the opportunity. Id be willing to bet that there are even more that never got past the interview.
Now while I will grant you that the percentage of black head coaches doesn’t equal the percentage of black players, that doesnt mean that everytime a guy is passed over automatically means racism is the culprit. Tampa just fired its white head coach out of nowhere and hired an assistant black coach to be the guy. No one went running to the media screaming racism. Indianapolis just replaced their HIGHLY respected black head coach with another black assistant even though Howard Mudd, their OLine coach has been coaching in the NFL since Jesus was a small boy. Pittsburg turned their back on two incumbent, white assistants to go outside the organization to hire a black position coach from Minnesote. No one screamed racism then. So were these three coaches hired on their merit and abilities? Or were they just affirmative action poster children, because you cant have it both ways.

the racist excuse is the lamest crap I've heard all off season..

I’m still shocked we got rid of him but i think it will allow everyone to step up instead of waiting for t.o. to do it all….and to say romo only talks to white players is crap, just watch any game with him he would run and jump on whoever made the play…he’s just a big kid and they all pump each other up….stupid subject..

I don't need a compass to know which way the wind shines....
