Jerry Jones could go in his sock, slap you wit a stack of hundreds, then catch you again on the backswing wit 3 Super Bowl rings. So who the hell are you makin' fun of?

I HATE

ESPN “Insider” material. I will never pay to see Kipers extended mock draft 2 months before the draft.

I'd be happy with S. Smith for sure.

Very Smart

No sense in investing a pick in a player who they think doesn’t have the value.

Some real deals can be found in the fourth round (Barber, Choice, Canty).

Why do so many people assume the first day picks are the only ones that have value? Tomorrow should be a fun day…

loosing player via free agency or cutting others, not drafting, wait till Training Camp when 3-4 starters will get injured……dont like it.

Sheesh......chill out

If the boys didnt feel anyone available was worth pick 51, then they did the right thing.

Here are some names of recent day 2 (rounds 3-7) picks:
Marion Barber
Jason Witten
Jay Ratliff
Crayton
B James
T Choice
O scandrick
N folk

Maybe the boys are on to something. They wont spend a small fortune getting someone in their camp either, now they can sign Ware.

And blogger here should know better than considering draft grades. DMN blog is open…..

Bad point

add up all the players taken in those years 3-7 and figure out the % of players that made the team. Expect 4 players out of 12 picks tomorrow to make the team

Actually 7 of 12 in rounds 3 & 4 recent years are still with us (except Canty)

The busts were big busts but Choice and Barber and Witten alone make all those other 5 meaningless.

1st pick – Roy Williams
2nd – traded for two picks the value wasn’t there, Dallas has a history of picking poorly in the 2nd.
12 picks tomorrow. 12

That is a lot of mid draft talent. These will ALL be backups that make the team. They will not be called on to start barring injury. Some 3rd rounds are good enough to start. See the last three draft years.. We’ll be fine..

Find it very hard to believe

DAL thought there was no way to make themselves better today. And there is so much opportunity to make ourselves better tomorrow.

This is the type of thinking that produces 44-6 blowouts with the playoffs on the line when you are the odds-on favorite to be in the SB.

What’s so wrong with doing the simple, practical thing? Why do you always have to prove yourself smarter than the average bear?

by AirforceBat on Apr 25, 2009 9:04 PM CDT up reply actions

I honestly don't

More than simply disagreeing, I see it as a fundamental philosophy that’s flawed.

We need players. not a lot. But a very specific few. Are you saying there were NONE available within our reach ? That’s hard to fathom.

Can we trade

all the draft picks we have and get like a 2nd round pick along with a couple of 3rd rounders for next years draft and call it a day? we would still have the compensatory picks.

by DCowboy on Apr 25, 2009 9:10 PM CDT reply actions

Poor Value

I wasn’t able to watch the 2nd round but I just heard that Seattle traded their 2nd round pick for a #1 next year. I realize they were higher. But how does that compare to trading our #2 for a 3 and 4? I’m ok with trading down or out if we don’t see what we want, but this sounds like terrible value.

by JimmyJohnson on Apr 25, 2009 9:10 PM CDT reply actions

Can't get too upset...

the Cowboys had a pretty good draft last year, even considering the double liabilities of Jerry Jones as GM and Wade Phillips as HC.

I think this year’s draft got away from them though.

Just about all the Mocks had people such as Brace or Delmas or Robiskie falling to the Cowboys in the 2nd or the 3rd.

Well, all those people are gone, when the Cowboys 51st pick came up. There was a run on Safties before they picked, and it looks like teams such as the Patriots knew who the Cowboys coveted and traded up ahead of them to take those players instead.

So, by the 51st pick, there was no one the Cowboys really liked, nor needed.

They did get ripped off on the trade though, they should’ve gotten another later round pick for that value at 51st, and should have 13 picks for tomorrow.

Ah well, it’s Jerry Jones, what can I say?

The man who once said that he watched every pass Quincey Carter threw in College, and that he was going to be a great QB!

Anyway, let’s hope Stephen Jones can make something happen with all those picks tomorrow.

If they pick up even 4 – 5 quarlity backups, it will be a minor victory.

by NerdVernacular on Apr 25, 2009 9:29 PM CDT up reply actions

We might be able to get all the picks in 7th round.

And since Jay Ratliff was once drafted in the 7th round, that equals 32 Pro-Bowlers!

IT WOULD BE NICE IF.....

we rec their 3rd, 4th, and Roscoe Parrish, now that would make up the difference and fill a need at WR. Hopefully, we have not heard everything.

by TONYINCC on Apr 25, 2009 9:27 PM CDT reply actions

Jerrah is in love with the 4th

When you win three times in a row on a slot machine, it is time to move to a new slot machine. Yeah. we got really lucky with MBIII and TC in the 4th and Scandrick in the 5th. But that doesn’t change the fact that a 2nd round pick is more valuable than a 4th. Jerrah doesn’t get it.

by JimmyJohnson on Apr 25, 2009 9:28 PM CDT reply actions

This smells of arrogance

Romo undrafted
Barber in the 4th
Choice in the 4th
Scandrick in the 5th
Ratliff in the 7th
