In the War room everybody is at the board
whats up with NFLN commercials??

I HATE
ESPN “Insider” material. I will never pay to see Kipers extended mock draft 2 months before the draft.

"Out of need springs desire, and out of desire springs the energy and the will to win."
I'd be happy with S. Smith for sure.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
I like Unger.......
but you almost have to pick a db with the way the division is loading up with WR
1st rounder next year
I wish a team like Carolina would call us & offer up their first next year for the 51st pick
What will it be, Cowboys?
Am I getting black out drunk tonight in celebration or mourning?

Beatty would definitly be good as well.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
Camera moving in place to film Jerry
"Out of need springs desire, and out of desire springs the energy and the will to win."
I think Dallas has some nice value sitting there.

he's 307 lbs...
you’d need a submarine to do it.

Is there anyone left worth it at 51???
or should we trade down? all the guys I wanted are gone.. of course right?

Wow
That is… a reach wouldn’t you think?
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
Broncos get McBath
I think you need to get Sean Smith now, all of the good coverage guys are going
"When it's third and ten, you can take the milk drinkers and I'll take the whiskey drinkers every time." -Max McGee
I guess not really 'pissed'....
… just shocked at some of the folks we passed up. However, there’s alot of good prospects left for us at 51… so we’ll see
Hooah.
Jerry looks so impatient
that straitjacket is giving him the fits by now
Unger and GIlbert
and two picks in front of them.
I think Chicago goes Loadholt
We need to get Beaty
He is a legit left tackle and can keep Romo clean, but he’ll need to improve his run blocking, but you can fix that in the weight room. You can’t teach his athleticism
Unger will be there if the Bears don't take him
and they have Kreutz
BEATY
I didnt think he’d fall to us. He is ABSOLUTELY the pick. Give him 2 years to learn behind Flo, and then plug him in
Just dont panic because the safetys are going..........
Dont go safety just for the sake of taking a safety. What good does it do to draft a need if you dont think he is worth the 51 spot
Dallas has options
no matter what happens here
yep, a lot of value still
Jerry Jones could go in his sock, slap you wit a stack of hundreds, then catch you again on the backswing wit 3 Super Bowl rings. So who the hell are you makin' fun of?

See y'all tomorrow
What a complete waste. I did call it though. This draft (at our needs) is really value heavy in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th where we now have 9 picks.

?
guys they wanted got snagged right in front of them.
So they moved down.
happens every year though raf.............
I understand why they do it but its still frustrating as hell when it happens
by TARHEEL PAUL on Apr 25, 2009 8:06 PM CDT up reply actions
Very Smart
No sense in investing a pick in a player who they think doesn’t have the value.
Some real deals can be found in the fourth round (Barber, Choice, Canty).
Why do so many people assume the first day picks are the only ones that have value? Tomorrow should be a fun day…
Next year picks...
I believe tomorrow we will trade some of our picks for higher round picks in the 2010 draft.
i didn't think we wanted extra picks because of the rule change.
if we draft them and sign them to get them into camp, but they don’t make the team, they count against the cap.
Jerry must have thought everyone left on the board was a reach..
and the way the draft fell this year I’d have to agree..
by torchindefenses on Apr 25, 2009 8:07 PM CDT reply actions
that sucks
though we watched pretty much everyone we wanted drop off our board in the 10 picks ahead of us
I say it every year
but, I am doing it next year, I am going to go golfing. I will just get the updates on my phone.
"No matter where you go, you are what you are playa"-Jay Z
Every draft pick this year has to get paid
if cut-because of no Cap next year.
So why would they want a buttload of picks?
I figured they’d move up or move into next year.
Still waiting to see the plan.
yeah week draft. Wade is there in the offchabce he falls asleep for somebody to wake him up in front of the camera
I thought TO was sleeping in meetings
Desus32.. yeah but..
Not having to pay a 2nd rounder helps.. also they are going for the 12 guage approach..
the more players they can bring in, the better odds at hitting at least 4-5 good players..
I actually like it after thinking about it
by torchindefenses on Apr 25, 2009 8:09 PM CDT reply actions
Now that teams that needed a safety got one, will dallas be able
to pick Sherrod Martin or Sean Smith at leisure?
2nd round isn't over
we could definitely move back up.
Here a trade
All 12 of our picks IF the take JJ
I live and die with the Dallas Cowboys
Loadholt can't block anyone without holding
Hes awful against speed rushers
He'll be ok
on the right side.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
The activity on this board makes this one of the more entertaining drafts
usually I just check in after it is over, but with you guys giving me some perspective, I am able to follow it.
Ignore the Mainstream Media, EMBRACE THE HATE!!!!
Read my fanpost
There are actually 3 or 4 very good prospects that are equal to the guys gone before.
This was a weak draft for elite safeties. Plenty of guys tomorrow. Chip Vaughn, Bruton, Hamlin, etc. all have size and were extremely productive.
Res firma mitescere nescit
listening on radio
sounds like we wanted to move down but we couldn’t get in the position we wanted. Now we’re gonna trade back up for him hopefully.
Trade back up for who?

Beatty, Smith and Duke
I can’t believe Beatty slid to us and we passed. Damn, we need a LT bad and he was a good one
Check out my movie - StandardsOfEthicalConduct.com
the trade does not add up according to the chart we got robbed a 5th or so
51 (390pts) vs 75 (215) and 110 (74)
390pts vs 290pts
They're worth les this year
Cap problems and a bad group of players.
by Realist Larry on Apr 25, 2009 8:15 PM CDT up reply actions
Stephen Jones was on the phone a looong time
Maybe he was confirming something with a 3rd team if we did teh Buff. move-it wouldn’t take that long for the 2-way trade.
Can we still get the safety from Alabama (Johnson?)
I wonder if they’re interested in the Ramses kid from San Luis Obispo?
Larry Brown just said he watched film at the Ranch on guys that are still there
So the guy Jerry wants he thinks will still be there
I bet draft day is exciting for GMs, Coaches, Players, and NFL network ratings
but not as much for fans
+1
why do I feel that hes having ZERO say on whats going on?
haha

While I'm very disappointed...
It’s just one pick, a second rounder at that.
I’m guessing that they think it’s a weak draft as well and are trying to make the odds better.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
In my very last mock draft I had us trading out of the second round into the third
So I am actually pleased with what we did today.
Only Quincy is happy lol
Caz he was right……. dam you quincy
I thank God everyday i wasnt born a Eagles fan!!!!!!
I'll ba happy if we...
use some picks tomorrow to acquire picks in the 2010 draft…
True
Good thing draft grades rarely mean anything until three years down the road.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
This draft had poor talent at the front end
that is why I traded out of the second round in my last mock draft, and apparently our front office agrees with me
Sheesh......chill out
If the boys didnt feel anyone available was worth pick 51, then they did the right thing.
Here are some names of recent day 2 (rounds 3-7) picks:
Marion Barber
Jason Witten
Jay Ratliff
Crayton
B James
T Choice
O scandrick
N folk
Maybe the boys are on to something. They wont spend a small fortune getting someone in their camp either, now they can sign Ware.
And blogger here should know better than considering draft grades. DMN blog is open…..
Good point
I echoed the point and gave you credit on BTB’s twitter and fbook pages
Bad point
add up all the players taken in those years 3-7 and figure out the % of players that made the team. Expect 4 players out of 12 picks tomorrow to make the team
Actually 7 of 12 in rounds 3 & 4 recent years are still with us (except Canty)
The busts were big busts but Choice and Barber and Witten alone make all those other 5 meaningless.
What time does that draft start tomm?
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.

See yall then
Jerry Jones could go in his sock, slap you wit a stack of hundreds, then catch you again on the backswing wit 3 Super Bowl rings. So who the hell are you makin' fun of?

Don’t get your #$@# in a wad.. lol
1st pick – Roy Williams
2nd – traded for two picks the value wasn’t there, Dallas has a history of picking poorly in the 2nd.
12 picks tomorrow. 12
That is a lot of mid draft talent. These will ALL be backups that make the team. They will not be called on to start barring injury. Some 3rd rounds are good enough to start. See the last three draft years.. We’ll be fine..

You'll never get in a traffic jam, while going the extra mile. -Roger staubach
The Giants will have had 5 picks after the 3rd round, Dallas 2 picks arghh!
by torchindefenses on Apr 25, 2009 9:00 PM CDT reply actions
How do you know they got good value for those picks?
just because a player is taken in the second round doesn’t mean he is a second rounder.
Find it very hard to believe
DAL thought there was no way to make themselves better today. And there is so much opportunity to make ourselves better tomorrow.
This is the type of thinking that produces 44-6 blowouts with the playoffs on the line when you are the odds-on favorite to be in the SB.
What’s so wrong with doing the simple, practical thing? Why do you always have to prove yourself smarter than the average bear?
'It is not enough for me to win. My enemies must lose' - David Merrick
I think...
you’re reading way too much into a second round draft pick.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
I honestly don't
More than simply disagreeing, I see it as a fundamental philosophy that’s flawed.
We need players. not a lot. But a very specific few. Are you saying there were NONE available within our reach ? That’s hard to fathom.
'It is not enough for me to win. My enemies must lose' - David Merrick
the "practical" thing
is not taking a player you think is a third round talent with a second round pick.
ok ok ok
with all these bleeping picks i better get my guy…
DUDLEY GUICEEEEEEEEE
Can we trade
all the draft picks we have and get like a 2nd round pick along with a couple of 3rd rounders for next years draft and call it a day? we would still have the compensatory picks.
Poor Value
I wasn’t able to watch the 2nd round but I just heard that Seattle traded their 2nd round pick for a #1 next year. I realize they were higher. But how does that compare to trading our #2 for a 3 and 4? I’m ok with trading down or out if we don’t see what we want, but this sounds like terrible value.
Can't get too upset...
the Cowboys had a pretty good draft last year, even considering the double liabilities of Jerry Jones as GM and Wade Phillips as HC.
I think this year’s draft got away from them though.
Just about all the Mocks had people such as Brace or Delmas or Robiskie falling to the Cowboys in the 2nd or the 3rd.
Well, all those people are gone, when the Cowboys 51st pick came up. There was a run on Safties before they picked, and it looks like teams such as the Patriots knew who the Cowboys coveted and traded up ahead of them to take those players instead.
So, by the 51st pick, there was no one the Cowboys really liked, nor needed.
They did get ripped off on the trade though, they should’ve gotten another later round pick for that value at 51st, and should have 13 picks for tomorrow.
Ah well, it’s Jerry Jones, what can I say?
The man who once said that he watched every pass Quincey Carter threw in College, and that he was going to be a great QB!
Anyway, let’s hope Stephen Jones can make something happen with all those picks tomorrow.
If they pick up even 4 – 5 quarlity backups, it will be a minor victory.

If they pickup even 4 -5 quality backups,
it will be a minor miracle.

I know this sounds strange but...
My two SEVENTH round picks…Tiquan Underwood and Mike Teel. Look up their college stats!
I really hope not
they suck.. I’ve seen them play many times. A lot of my friends here in Jersey are Rutgers alum. Teel is worthless, he just has good games every once in a while.

We might be able to get all the picks in 7th round.
And since Jay Ratliff was once drafted in the 7th round, that equals 32 Pro-Bowlers!

it's going to be very competitive and hard hitting in camp
look at all these rookies whose low draft status guarantees nothing, everyone will really be fighting to make the roster
IT WOULD BE NICE IF.....
we rec their 3rd, 4th, and Roscoe Parrish, now that would make up the difference and fill a need at WR. Hopefully, we have not heard everything.
Jerrah is in love with the 4th
When you win three times in a row on a slot machine, it is time to move to a new slot machine. Yeah. we got really lucky with MBIII and TC in the 4th and Scandrick in the 5th. But that doesn’t change the fact that a 2nd round pick is more valuable than a 4th. Jerrah doesn’t get it.
unless your scouts
tell you that the players left on board don’t have 2nd round value.
This smells of arrogance
Romo undrafted
Barber in the 4th
Choice in the 4th
Scandrick in the 5th
Ratliff in the 7th
I think JJ and friends think they can do this every year and get away with it but it’s going to catch up with them.
Not impressed in the least.
With the names left on the board.. Ugh..
Hopefully Dallas can parlay some those picks in next year. This is a overall weak draft..
Can someone give me some insight in to some quality players who fell?

looks like they're going for volume
maybe jerry’s figuring if he can get enough bodies into camp, he’ll catch lightning in a bottle?
