so random question...
If WR Quan Cosby is there in the 5th or 6th or 7th, do you take him?
Eh...
I like him, as you can probably tell, but he’s preeeeety old for a rookie.

I'm fine with our picks so far
It looks like a lot players we thought would go in the late 2nd-early 3rd have dropped and are available in the 4th.
What I’m not fine with is what we got in return for the #51 pick. It looks like they didn’t have a backup plan in case Unger was gone, which means they should have just given up a pick to move up and get him once he got within 10 picks.
Guys I have to agree
Tom C is keeping to his guns about drafting hard working, good character guys……
Agree... nothing sexy here, just good solid picks...
If you pan this draft already, you just like to be the cynic

well we have 12 picks and the 1st two already have roster spots for themselves

hard working, good character, AVERAGE players who should be taken a round or two later….while watching the best players available of need come off the board…
I don't know about average
but I am starting to believe that to build something that is synergistic (whole > than sum of parts) you need to pick strong character hard working players. That is what teams like Pitt have done for years. Besides we already have all the “sexy” players (minus a safety) on this team. We need work horses who can make everyone else work hard.
per dmn blog
What did Jerry and Wade say to you? “Really, they didn’t say too much. They wanted me to come in and be a special teams guy and I talked to Wade and the other guy and they were all saying the same thing about special teams and they really want me to be in their third down package.”

I heard this when Bennett was picked. Team thought Dennis Franchione recruited great talent and completely wasted it. Kids had no technique or discipline. Lots of terrible work habits.

by AustonianAggie on Apr 26, 2009 11:20 AM CDT reply actions
true
as an Aggie, and seeing and talking to McGee the last few years, he’s a high character, high energy, hard working player. But he won’t sniff the playing field for several years. But he’ll be a great backup and could have trade value in a few years. Think Green Bay when they had Favre but kept drafting and trading QB’s
I don't understand I thought our NEEDS were.....
S, WR, NT……and we haven’t picked any of those positions!! See ya guys I’ve wasted a day watching this….better order flowers for my fiancee’.
I don't think McGee is that bad.

It really is a return to the days when Jerry fancied himself a talent evaluator.
Maddening to see how this team was knocking on the door and is now falling back to mediocrity and beyond.
You look at teams like Philly and the Giants…they have upgraded their rosters significantly.
It hurts as a fan to watch this team not have a real football talent evaluator running this part of our organization.
The only thing I can think of is that Jerry is feeling the economic pinch with the new stadium and all.
I get all of that, but this? Absolutely incompetent organization.

What position on this team needs a starter????
For two days now everyone has been moaning and groaning over not picking in the second and now the selections the team has made today, can someone tell me what rookie was going to walk into Valley Ranch and start next season? At what position did they just have to have a top tier guy who is considered ready to start this season? You guys are getting way to caught up in names and draft gurus projected selections or it guys to see that Jerry and Co. are doing exactly what they said they were going to do, bring in solid guys to churn the bottom 20 roster spots. Guys to provide competition, enhance special teams, and compete with backup guys already on the roster. Get over yourselves and all of the moaning and graoning because they have not selected the big name that all the meadia has talked about for the past 2 months….

we need a starter at
NT? Uh, Jay Ratliff much?

You have holes in Safety, WR, NT, and O-line. Defintely not at QB.
McGee could be great...but
Romo will be the starter for at least 5+ years…AND we have a solid back up for hte next 5+ years if we want….so why would we REACH for a QB in the 3rd who wont see the field but 3 times a year in PRESEASON for 5+ years…

Man, you're a pessimist
This draft is going right to the heart of what was predicted by most to actually happen.
Williams ran a damn 4.4 at the size of a 3-4 ILB…that’s studly.
Brewster at OT was down there, but at OG he is really big and athletic.
One pick in the 4th is reserved for GM Jerry to take his pet cat (McGee).
So far, so predictable.
