The whole tournament

was for Carolina.
They won every game by at least a dozen points!

thats what I meant

If I wasn’t such a Pitt homer, I would have picked them to go all the way, but I did win my office pool by having the Spartans in the finals.

TAR HEELS!!!

I enjoyed this immensely, but the victory over Illinois carried so much more elation – beating a team that was more of an equal.

Finally getting a cake-walk … reminded me of when the Cowboys ripped the Broncos in ‘79 (?) behind Too Tall and Harvey Martin. I know, I know, the Bills first one was similar, but the feeling I had tonight (actually, this morning in Thailand at an internet cafe) … it was a very similar feeling to that victory over the Broncos. In that case, as with these Tar Heels, the victory was more a statement of the long dominance of a program finally showing it’s power. When the Boy’s beat the Broncos, it followed two losses to the Steelers and several play-off flame-outs at the hands of the Rams and Redskins.

Tar Heel Nation has earned this victory through years of Dean and now his protege … building a program recruits can’t wait to join, and getting to the promised land in record-setting dominance. Yea baby!

Tar Heels started this college Bball season with one goal in mind - that loss to Kansas in last year's final 4 will make this team all bid-ness!

I wanted N. Carolina to win

but would have liked to watched a competitive game. But if you’re a true Heels fan, you surely enjoyed the blowout.

by Dave Halprin on Apr 6, 2009 11:56 PM CDT reply actions

Agreed... didn't quite come out in my first post...

but I really appreciated the competitive game against Illinois far more.

That said, it was GREAT to watch Carolina dominate on such a stage.

NOW >>> DON’T BE SURPRISED IF WE PULL A FLORIDA AND COMPETE FOR A FOOTBALL TITLE TOO!!!

HEELS BABY!

Football?

Lets not get crazy…..

Lets aim for just winning the ACC first.

Hey Butch Davis did do

A pretty good job getting us turned in the right direction last year….BUT….
winning the ACC would be a major accomplishment

Agreed, there's a long row to hoe...

but, Carolina has a decent chance to break into the BCS title picture if things go their way.

you got to be kidding GD

Big East is by and away the most dominant conference in the country and it’s not even close.

Terry, you're eating the cheese...

The big East had a good year, but the ACC is the standard bearer year in and year out… they are like the SEC is in College football. Good for the Big East this year, but the ACC had three top-10 teams as well in Wake, Duke and Carolina.

ACC is longer the standard, its the Big East now

C’mon, 3 out of the 4 top seeds were Big East teams, from top to bottom its a much better conference than the ACC.

The Big East...

was overall the best conference top to bottom.

I don’t know how that can be argued. They had 5 teams in the sweet 16.

Agreed

But when it comes to the tournament
it’s not really about conference strength
but about the teams themselves

if you believe one year makes a conference

when it was BARELY better than the perennial POWERHOUSE ACC … well, you’re entitled to that opinion?

by DalaiLuke on Apr 8, 2009 8:59 AM CDT up reply actions

Woooo hold up.

I didn’t say it was going to be the best conference next year or the year after that.

But they had the most teams in the tournament, the most teams in the sweet 16, and there was a ton of strength from top to bottom.

I don’t really get what you mean by “one year makes a conference”.

The Big East was the best conference this year, doesn’t make the ACC bad, but you can’t argue with a conference that had that many teams advance that far into the tourney.

reading back...

I replied to you but really was responding to Terry… the Big East was indeed bad-ass this season, but the ACC is the power to be compared to year-in, year-out

Oh I agree.

The ACC is super consistant and VERY top heavy.

i would bed to differ

The pac ten is the best conference in football and is one of the most underrated
