Aikman OK with Owens getting cut
IRVING, Texas -- Troy Aikman thinks the Cowboys made the right move by getting rid of Terrell Owens. Now he's curious to see whether they also were right about making Roy Williams the new top target for Tony Romo.
Dallas gave its first-, third- and sixth-round picks in the upcoming draft to Detroit to get Williams midway through last season. He hardly looked a guy who led the NFC in yards receiving two years earlier, producing fewer than 200 yards and a single touchdown in 10 games, yet without Owens he becomes the No. 1 receiver.
"If Roy Williams doesn't turn out to be the player that they thought he would be when they made the trade, I think this would be one of the biggest busts in the history of the league," Aikman said.
(...)
Aikman spoke following a news conference announcing Wingstop as the official chicken wing provider for the Cowboys and their new stadium. He's been a customer of the location near team headquarters since his playing days, and is in his sixth year as their national spokesman.
(Quick, can anyone tell me the "official wing provider" of the NY Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Redskins? Who is the official wing provider for Buffalo?--B.P.)

LOL
There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live.

Naw
Anything that combines Dallas Cowboys and Wings is a goodthing.
Damn I need a wing stop around here. Who wants to go halfies on opening one?

I think
saying if the Roy Williams thing doesn’t work out it will be one of the biggest busts in NFL history is a little over the top, he was traded for a 1st and 3rd, Buffalo gave up 2 #1’s for Bledsoe, Dallas 2 #1 for Joey Galloway, heck I can think of a ton of #1-3 overall picks in the draft (worth more than the 1st and 3rd Dallas gave up) that were huge busts.

Essentially, though, Dallas gave up TO for Roy also.

Not at all
We would’ve gotten SOMEBODY here as a replacement for TO. Him being cut was jsut a matter of time – whether it happened this offseason or next. All the Roy trade did was at most accelerate it a year.

It’s overstatement at its high point.
Still, if Roy is a bust, will Romo apologists blame another failed season on Roy? on Garrett? on Jerry for letting T.O. go?

so what do you suggest
you’re saying we should’ve cut romo instead of TO? I guess you enjoyed those 5-11 seasons. Bottom line is we needed a change after last year, and TO, considering he was declining and looking realistcally like he had another year at his salary left with this team at most, was the expendable player.
if Roy is a bust, the blame will go on Roy and on noone else. If Romo cannot accurately get him the ball, then the blame will go on Romo. If we refuse to use our 3 headed rb monster, and continue to have a downfield offense despite Roy’s lack of speed compared to TO, the blame will go on Jason Garrett.

Unfortunately, Wade might get all the blame.
Garrett could become HC.
Romo will continue to be the man.
And Roy will get at least a couple years to prove he’s a pure Texan football player.

Garret as HC
Im not sold as him being our head coach. He seems as soft as Wade. So there isnt gonna be a real change in anything if you ask me. Plus last season wasnt to impressive i guess we will know after next year if he is HC material or not. He must be if Jerry gave him all the $$$$

I agree.
The way the press has taken off with his comments make its seem like he’s done all the off-season marketing for Fox he needs to do until broadcast time.
