"Cowboys Stadium" to be the official name for Jerry World
Per Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com:
The Cowboys are still in the process of acquiring corporate naming rights for the new stadium, with obvious sensitivity to the current economic climate. Jones said he didn't expect a name change before the start of the 2009 season, and felt "Cowboys Stadium" was a fitting title in the short term.
"As I've said, we are so sensitive, as everyone is, to the economic times that we're in," Jones said. "And that'll happen at a time when it's probably more appropriate and less sensitive than it is right now about some of the other economic issues that we have going on."
While nearly every Cowboys fan was hoping for "Landry Stadium", I think this is the next best thing. Simple, to the point and easily recognizable. It's also great to hear the Jerry isn't going to rush out and secure a sponsor for the naming rights, although I think it has less to do with economic sensitivity than it does with lack of suitable partners.
However, if we're going to go with pure simplicity and brand recognition, why not go all the way and just call it "Dallas Cowboys Stadium"?

I concur
Landry Stadium would have been the better choice, but I can certainly live with Cowboys Stadium.

I would have called it Landry Field or Stadium myself
The shock value of Jerry doing that alone would have been worth millions. Nobody would have expected it.
As for “Dallas Cowboys Stadium” I think that would have been insensitive to the taxpayers of Arlington who are helping foot the bill for that stadium. I know it’s part of the Cowboys’ name but if Dallas wants their name on that stadium they can buy the naming rights. LOL

well i think part of the reason he wants to keep it simple is because when the naming rights deal is signed – nobody is going to complain when Cowboys Stadium becomes Pepsi Stadium etc…..if he names the stadium after Landry and then takes it away in a year when a deal is signed – everyone will call it a slap in the face

I was thinking it before I read your post
I also believe that’s exactly why it wouldn’t be Landry Stadium.
