Cowboys by the numbers

With the lack of anything newsworthy realated to The Cowboys I got to thinking about the teams history.  My train of thought led me eventually to ask the question, "If you put together a team comprising one player, and one player only, at each uniform number, who would you end up with?"

Some numbers were plainly a cake walk, #8, Troy of course.  #12, Roger, #74, Lilly.  But what about #22?  Emmitt or Bullet Bob?  #79, Big E Williams or Harvey Martin.  #54, Chuck Howley or The Manster?  I think the hardest might be #88, Drew or Michael.  Or maybe Antonio Bryant :-) ?  Or how about #21?  Prime Time or Doug Dennison :-)?  Ron Springs or Mel Renfro for #20?

Does tenure on the team have any part of the decision?  #26 was Herb Adderly and Kevin Smith, but Adderly wasn't around that many years.  On the other hand, they won their 1st SB with him.  Tough decisions!

This time of the year my mind wanders off the reservation pretty often. It’s PAST time for some football.

I can't believe you think a lot of those decisions would be difficult

Emmitt easily over Hayes, he’s the greatest RB of all time for crying out loud.

Martin easily over Williams, Harvey was one of the greatest pass rushers of all time and a SB MVP.

Irvin easily over Pearson, while I loved Drew(one of my favorite players growing up) Irvin holds all of the Cowboys receiving records and is a HOFer.

Renfro easily over Springs, Mel is a HOF CB, Springs was a good solid FB and nothing more.

The only tough one I see would be White and Howley, I’d personally give it to the Manster myself.

I think at #54

I’d have to go with Bobby Carpenter. That guy definetely deserves to go in the Cowboys ring of honor.

Well I'm no longer ashamed to admit

that I did this in the car on a long trip last week.

Jerry Jones could go in his sock, slap you wit a stack of hundreds, then catch you again on the backswing wit 3 Super Bowl rings. So who the hell are you makin' fun of?

That makes me feel better

It’s nice to know that I’m not alone in drifting off the reservation.
