Crayton, Hurd, or Austin?
Who do you think I personally like Austin over the others due to his speed. I think that Hurd and Crayton are petty much the samething, possesion recievers, I do think that all three are important to the team. I just think that Austin along with Felix Jones can cause some looooonnnngggg nights for alot of DCs If Roy Williams weren't on the team I would love to have one of the other guys because again they are the same type of players.

ALL HAIL Patrick Crayton!!!
He’s not flashy,or fast, but he never takes a play off, and gets the job done.

Here's a question.
Is there anyone that is crapped on more than Patrick Crayton?
I know that he had that horrendous drop against the Giants, but people on this blog(not all but ALOT), act like this dude is the crappiest receiver of all time.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.

Does seem that way
For a 7th round pick, he’s turned out to be a gem, or maybe a cubic zirconium at least. If he’d hauled in those passes in the playoff game, his popularity would be way up there.

Is there a 4th option?
Austin has the most potential upside due to his speed. I guess I’m rooting for him.

In all seriousness I want to see Austin at #2 on talent alone....
We need someone to threaten w/ speed on every play and Felix isn’t going to be out there on every play…. I would like to see some play’s w/ Felix and Austin on the outside w/ Roy in the slot, scare them with speed to open up the middle w/ Roy

I like them all
Austin is going to hopefully take another step and win the #2 spot.
Crayton should thrive as the slot WR.
Hurd can backup all 3 WR positions and is a key ST player.

I feel the same about where you have them spotted.
I have wondered though if Hurd could play the slot. I always felt Crayton was good in the slot. Being a former QB I often felt he would have a good feel for where Romo would want him to be in a given D. Hurd came to mind because of the report that he has bulked up a good bit (someone wrote he looked like a TE) I always think of a slot guy as a Wes Welker type of guy who is quicker than fast but I remembered that Rice did alot of damage in the slot. He is big enough to survive the middle. Would provide a big target and could thrive with some quick slants and drags across the middle.
I have no idea if he is suited for that but I wouldnt mind seeing some plays in TC and preseason to check him out. Help give him an opportunity to play more if Austins takes the #2 spot.

Crayton seems to be good at reading coverage
He isn’t quick or explosive, but he doesn’t hesitate. As soon as he feels a crease opening or a spot left uncovered in a zone, he immediately or instinctively goes right at it. He’s also a good blocker for a WR.
I remember Hurd making a point to win a spot on ST as a rookie, and learn the plays for all 3 WR positions.
Plus, he got TO to mentor him on the field and in weight training/conditioning. Very smart.
I think during last year’s camp they moved him behind Crayton in the slot for a while when they moved Austin out to flanker.

Austin has the most speed so he could help the most by spreading the field.
But Austin seems to have a hard time staying on the field. Austin would be my choice but I would be happy if any one of these guys came up big.

The Colts get it
The Colts consistently use the players they draft. They let a guy go and trust the next guy to do his job.
I think Austin and Hurd are going to make a difference this year now that they have an opportunity.
They should fire anyone that allows them to play special teams in preseason.

Very true. Trust your draft picks. Trust yourself.
You can bring them along on a schedule but eventually you have to throw them in the water. Spencer, Austin, Hurd, Jenkins, and Scandrick come to mind as guys that need to thrown into the deep in.
Its unfortunate that Carp wasnt given about 4 games last year in Zachs position. Zack wasnt bad but Carp should have been given enough time on the field to prove something one way or another. You can call him a bum but I remember his rookie year when he did get extended playing time he seem to come on late. He seems to be a wasted pick now. Some of its his fault but just as much its the coaches fault. If your not ganna give them a chance then dont pick them.

Austin
We are in dire need of a deep threat opposite Williams. WIlliams/Crayton or Williams/Hurd won’t scare any defenses. I think Austin has the ability to perform admirably in that role. Won’t make any Pro Bowls any time soon, but I’d be thrilled to have him starting.

I
think Austin still has to prove himself. I say put RW #1, Crayton #2, and Austin #3.

He does but that is what TC is for. You know what you get with Crayton.
i just dont think he is a legit #2. He can play it but seems to have more value in the slot. i really think he will catch the ball better this year. He cant do much worse. I think the NY drop haunts him though he wouldnt say it.
Austin needs to stay healthy. You could see his confidence grow and bang he gets hurt on a KO following his big TD. That sucks. Comes back starts getting healthy, confidence grows, makes a big 1st down catch against Redskins and bang, dinged again. I think he knows he can play now. i wish I could see how he carries himself and how he goes about his practices. id like to see his swagger. Is he thinking or is he turning it on and playing ball.

I love me some Miles Austin
stay healthy, make plays, break out, score touchdowns
that’s not too much to ask, is it?!?!

can read only so much from one OTA practice
but reports were that Hurd was really standing out last week during the open practice, was catching everything well including some diving catches, and that he’s also noticeably continued to build up his upper body strength.
with Hurd out all last year, we’ve tended to focus on Austin and his potential, but Hurd is hungry and working very hard to compete, and I think he’s really going to come on this year and be a solid contributor.

Crayton is solid; plus, does he ever get hurt?
He may not be a numero uno or anything, but the Cowboys need his experience and he’s grown with the offense alot longer than the other guys.

+1
Crayton is much better than what most fans think. He’ll never be all-pro, but he’s a very solid and dependable 2 or 3 receiver.

Really, PC is the only WR on the roster that we can be comfortable with knowing what we are getting out of him.
Doubtful that he’ll disappoint our expectations; still potential that he’ll exceed expectations; surely, he will at least meet expectations.

Crayton did get hurt, either his first or second year. Missed several games.

CRAYTON HAS THE BEST HANDS ON THE TEAM!
I’d like to see Crayton as our #2, Austin in the slot, with Hurd & Manuel Johnson battling for the #4 spot
Even throw MartyB & Felix in the mix…

Crayton is #2, but Miles will get a lot more plays
Cowboys will have to play Miles enough so he runs more than deep routes, otherwise when he comes in the game, teams will know what he’s up to. But Crayton has the proven record at the moment. Miles will have to play his way past him. He won’t get there on “potential.”
Hurd? I don’t think he’ll last after this season, and wouldn’t be surprised to see him cut if the drafted WR or Ogletree outplay him. All things being equal, we’re likely to go with the younger guy. Hurd is a very good special teams player, but that may not be enough to keep him because next year we’d have to pay to keep him as a WR.
Stanback is more likely to be kept, despite his injury history, b/c his contract ties him to us for the next two years. Plus, he still has more potential upside than Hurd.
