Holland vs Koiser
It wasn't long ago that I (along with many other fans) thought that Koiser was the weak link on the O-line. Last season proved that I was wrong, when KK came back the O-line seemed to be in sync and Montrae Holland played very well until he got hurt. Now I ask you fans which guy should the boys go with? Holland is my choice due to his size and he always seems to move forward compared to bulge when Kosier is playing. I think that with Holland the boys can prosper and do whatever they want. I think the backup should be Pat McQuisten I thought that in the Eagles game that he played very well in relief of Proctor. Which makes me think why don't we use him more whats the problem with him.

Kosier..........
……..or more specifically whoever played LG, WAS the weak link last year. It just so happens that Kosier was “less weak” than the others so it was less noticeable. It’s likely to be the same this year as well.

I agree that Holland played very well. In my opinion he played better than Kosier because of the same reason you mentioned before. Our line moved forward with Holland opposed to being punked with Kosier in there. I never understood why he was considered so valuable when he did not fit our line sceme. He only weighs 294 lbs when everyone else weighs at least 312. Maybe it’s just me but I can understand our center being 312 (thought to be a mobile position) and then our right guard being 350 (mostly stationary except for pulls) and Offensive Tackle being 315 (faces speed rushers). What I don’t understand is left guard being 294 and our left tackle being 340… I think they are backwards as far as weight goes. Now I know this isn’t Madden and you can’t just switch em because of technique but I’ve always wondered about that along with Dallas’ thought process on small nose tackles… Maybe that’s just me? While I’m on the subject of NT I hope we get Terrence Cody next draft (F*** Saivii for insurance) but if we are as successful as I hope we are then I don’t see him falling to us.

I think people were saying that Kosier helped with the line calls...
When Holland was in there I didn’t think that the line suffered that much, I just hope that the staff gives MH a chance. And I also think that Pat Mcquistan was okay in the Eagles game.

bingo
Right on.
It’s not that Kosier is dominant, he just didn’t suck as as bad a proctor.

Kosier
Holland was an upgrade over a 3rd stringer, but with osier out there our o-line looked elite!

Maybe
if Holland shows a little fire and doesnt show up at camp a fat blob, he and Kosier can duke it out. Otherwise, we have no problems with K

Kosier is the starting LG
and nobody is going to beat him out this season. Maybe Brewster in a few years, but not in 2009.
Holland will be lucky to make the team.

A little off topic but
The two OG’s they picked up after the draft, Isdaner and Bright. I’m wondering with the log jam now at OG, does anyone think one of these guys could be turned into a Center?
Reading their profiles, they are both similar sized and football smart, leaders on their college teams. Just a thought.

Ya these guys draft profiles looked pretty good, but
we’ll see I think at least 1 makes the PS and learns the center position. I really don’t know if anyone can take McQ’s spot as swing tackle this year , unless Free has put in a lot of work. Free and McQ will be fighting with each other for a spot thats for sure!

I did read this somewhere that one of those guys will be competing w/Procter for backup C.
I can’t seem to find it now, but I’m pretty sure it was Isdaner.

Cool
They both sound impressive in the draft profile aspect, but Bright has the age factor against him. I bet it would be Isdaner.

If Holland doesn't show up fat,
he’s a superior player to Kosier.
But he will probably show up fat.
Jerry Jones could go in his sock, slap you wit a stack of hundreds, then catch you again on the backswing wit 3 Super Bowl rings. So who the hell are you makin' fun of?

Many of you aren't getting the REAL problem
Kosier plays because Gurode is not strong enough in the mental aspect of the game to make the right line calls and protection adjustments, especially with all of the shifting and moving that defenses do today.
Kosier helps Gurode out immensely, and thus the rest of the o-line. He’s not a better LG than Holland physically. Holland is stronger, has a better base and can punish people when he locks on.
I find it funny that Gurode has been to the Pro Bowl, when it was really Kosier doing most of the work that the center is supposed to do.

Most of the work?
I’m not saying you’re wrong about Kosier making the line calls, but Gurode is one the strongest centers in the league and besides his erratic snaps sometimes, he never gets pushed back.
Maybe Gurode is overrated, but I’d say he’s still one of the better centers in the NFC.

True
Haynesworth will probably think that being the highest paid DLineman in the League isn’t as enjoyable as he thought that it would be after facing Gurode twice in a season, and thrice is a possibility.
Gurode made him look that bad.

Gurode unable to make line calls? Kosier doing it?
I mean this may be true, but i have read nothing that back this up. What is your source of insight into this? To think that the weakest link in our O-line is secretly the brains of the group and the glue that keeps it together; I mean keeping Flo on the right count and Gurode blocking the correct guy, plus handling his own responsibilities, Its a wonder he is not the offensive line coach – who knows if this is true, not saying it is or isn’t, maybe he will be one day.

It's been intimated time and time again...
When Kosier went down, that’s when Romo really got frustrated.
I could be wrong but I believe Gurode’s still struggling with this part of the game.

I see were Gurode, ain't really the brightest bulb in the box,
but that’s not saying its because Kosier was helping to make the calls. Proctor, Flo, Davis, Gurode could have all missed some of those calls on their own; or ( and probably was the case some) the defense was just better at hiding there rush than the Cowboys are at seeing it; or they just flat got beat at times. Now I see were it said " Romo talked about the line calls not being good enough " , and that statement by a reporter puts the blame squarely on Gurode; however were this might have been the case at times, maybe even the majority of times, it still doesn’t back up what was stated about Kosier doing anything himself to improve that situation; plus, with Proctor being in there and Flo being old, deaf and injured last year the left side of the line was awful!
Fact is if they thought it was that big a problem were they accually “TARGETED” a G/C for their first pick of the draft then they should have made a conscious effort to move up and get him. Lord knows they had the picks to do it. I think the flaw in the Cowboy’s draft day plan came when along with all the other 1st day surprise picks " Mack" the top rated center came off the board so early.

Good Question
Kosier is more of a technician, with good footwork who get to and seal on the 2nd level, but at the point of attack he’s nothing special. I saw him get bull-rushed several times over the last couple of years.
Holland has great size, but he didn’t play enough to get a gauge on his 2nd level blocking. He seemed to absorb the bull-rush well, and had decent footwork, but you never know with these guys who have trouble staying off the buffet like.
Give Holland every shot at surplanting Kosier, but don’t be surprised if his fatassedness gets the best of him. I have limited sympathy for people whose only limits are their own self control.
