Two questions from the OTA's
Have heard no reporting on either of these and am more than curious - both could have big impacts on our season:
1) Is TR's pinky OK?
He was not the same thrower after the injury than before, that much is clear and perfectly understandable. Also believe subsequent injuries - especially his back, had more impact in the final few games. However, there have been consistent reports over several sessions of off-target throws. Even the dreaded 'duck' was referenced if I recall correctly. As a former QB, I know if you can't grip the ball, you tend to 'push' it and that can result in some ugly throws
I haven't heard any mention of this by the media, coaching staff or Romo himself. Anyone ?
2) What kind of shape is M Holland in?
Both from a conditioning standpoint and recover from his injury (foot?). I believe the answer to our DEC swoon is some good old NFC East smash mouth football. What isn't discussed is that most teams passing stats decline late in the season - the cumulative effect of simply wearing down and cold/inclement weather, especially in the NorthEast.
I would think someone might make an observation as to simply how fat or out of shape he may or may not be. OLine depth is simply too important to go unmentioned.
Bonus question - do they put on pads for the upcoming mini-camps?

Regarding Romo
I’ve heard all that too and I certainly don’t like hearing it, but it’s still only June, and I’ll wait till at least late in training camp before I worry too much.
Also, here is a link to an OTA report from 2 years ago. Romo looked bad but history puts it into a better perspective. I remember vividly reading this too, it put me in a foul mood.

Anyhow my point is, probably not a big issue with his hand or whatever. Probably more just timing problems and guys missing their assignments/routes.
horrible in OTAs
but yet goes on to throw for over 4,000 yards and 36 TDs…. just proof the OTAs are absolutely no indication of what will happen once the season starts.
I think OTAs are more teaching and learning sessions than execution sessions.

and if your pal was lighting it up in OTAs, you'd say the same thing, right? It is just June
Also, I thought all the reports of TR not throwing well were lies, weren’t they?

absolutely
Have you ever heard me comment about OTAs?? The answer is no because they are really teaching and learning sessions.
I’m skeptical of any reports that are based on hearsay information. If the reporter was there and saw it, then I believe it.

Roy Williams said they were sloppy!
It does not get more first hand than that.

I'm sure he was frustrated...
…but that really doesn’t change anything. It’s still June, and it’s OTAs. Nobody looks awesome in OTAs, really. They’re actually meant to get timing down, etc. Of course they’re going to look sloppy now. If this were late July or August, it might be cause for more concern. Right now, it’s just silly to see people overreacting about things that really AREN’T all that important.
I worry about depth, things like that. And boy am I worried. How Romo/Roy/Witten/whoever looks during OTAs? Not so much. It’s just silly.

Roy was specifically referring to the WR not about Romo

Regarding Holland
According to Matt Mosley who was in a regular on ESPN radio here in Dallas, he said yesterday that Holland looks pretty out of shape. Mosley said that when Holland went to the turf, it took him awhile to get up and usually had to get help from teammates. Not sure how accurate this is as Mosley has a tendency to embelish (I guess that’s a requirement to work for BSPN.) Hopefully Holland isn’t as out of shape as last off season, which caused his trade from Denver.
"So you can’t stiff arm at all? What about the throat?"- Marion "Barbarian" Barber
Only time will tell
Holland getting traded from Denver was because the offense Shanahan runs is a zone blocking running game. Those requires smaller (not necessarily), quicker (definitely) offensive linemen to execute it effectively. Holland was (and still is) too big and too slow for the system they ran in Denver. That’s why he was traded. He probably won’t get traded (or cut) from the Cowboys but he will be a backup and won’t see much of the field unless these reports are false and he works his butt off.
Mosely is the Howard Stern of BSPN. I sometime get the feeling that he’s a pathological liar. He, as you said, embellishes whatever he writes for shock value.
