For Tarheel Paul...
Hey BTB community,
I think most of us read the FanPost put up by Tarheel Paul recently. It was heart-breaking. Go here if you haven't read it.
Some of you guys wrote me wondering if there was something we could do for him and I was thinking the same thing. Then it hit me. BTB asked you guys to contribute to a fundraiser for training camp over the past months. BTW, thanks to everybody who contributed, we brought in close to $1,600 and Raf and I will use that for TC and other blog improvements. But we also offered a pair of tickets to the pre-season opener at the stadium with the Titans as a raffle prize to contributors.
My idea: Let's give that pair of tickets to Tarheel Paul so he and his wife can go to the game. I know we promised a raffle, but I'm hoping as a community we can come together to support one of our own in his time of need. I talked to Paul about it, he was excited and thought it was a nice gesture. But I need all of you guys who contributed to the fundraiser to agree. We promised you something and I don't want to go back on it without your consent.
So, if you contributed and have objections or questions, email me. It will remain strictly confidential, so please don't feel you'll be singled out in the community. You are within your rights to question it if so inclined. It might be a case where I can refund your contribution from my own pocket if it's only a person or two.
Otherwise, if I don't hear any objections in the next few days, I'll let Tarheel Paul know. I would be elated to do something nice for him and his wife. I discussed this idea with Raf and he is in agreement too, if everyboidy else is in agreement.
Thanks,
Dave

Great Idea Grizz
I know Paul through the Tar heels blog as well….I was shocked to hear the heartbreaking news. Paul, needless to say my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I can think of no other gesture that would be as appropriate as tickets to the preseason opener!
I didn’t donate….But I think it’s a great idea!!!

Like you, I don't really get a vote since I wasn't in the original contribution
but it sounds like a wonderful idea and I appreciate the thoughtfulness that led to you guys proposing it.

Like maybe
small, voluntary fines for breaking blog rules between now and the game donated to the T-P game fund. I probably owe a couple already.
Just a thought..

I'd love to go to the game
but am glad to surrender my contributions if it will allow a fellow BTB some respite during tough times.

This is a great idea Grizz
I was thinking about Paul on Father’s Day and how rough that must have been for him, so maybe the game can help he and his wife get their minds on something else, if maybe just for a few hours.

Of course
we benefit anyhow from reading your great TC reports, it’s best to give those tickets to someone who needs them more.

Totally agree...
That’s what I love about this group. We can disagree about certain players and management decisions but when one of our own needs support we turn out in big numbers.
This is a wonderful gesture and one that will have no dissenters.
Proud to know you guys…

For sure.
I’d also like to suggest maybe putting a link at the top of each main story. I found that there have been a few people that were away that didn’t even know about it.
Sometimes it’s easy to pass over fanposts.
it was weird, I... I mean you probably didn't hear about it because I went under the name of Mike Honcho. But I just wanted you to know that. If you can hear me, if it got into your brain somehow. That I spread my buttcheeks as Mike Honcho.

Definitely
All for it. Very nice idea Grizz.
I don’t know Paul, but after reading his story, I’m still hurting for him. Nothing would make me feel better than him and his wife getting those tickets. I’m sure everyone here feels similarly.

Donating miles works as well as cash
And adds up pretty fast. Just need someone to orchestrate it. Like Fighter, I have Delta miles I can donate.

I don't have any miles
But I could probably find $10 to donate if we decide to do this.
