Around SBN: Kentucky Football: Tee Martin Reportedly Leaving for USC

Well as far as it being an open competition, the players have been told that it is going to start out with Jenkins as the starter and Scandrick as the guy who will try to unseat him.

that's not exactly what he was told
I haven’t heard anything from the coaches about starting but I talked to our secondary coach and he said he wanted me to be a big part of the defense, that they are expecting me to grow into a big role.

It’s just a big assumption on Jenkin’s part.

Sounds like he misunderstood

The coaches want him to start, so they are just getting him mentally ready for the responsibility. He’s still going to have to earn it. I think he will, but he better not think he’s already penciled in at RCB.

I hope he does start.

I think he’s gonna be awesome and Scandrick will see a ton of playing time anyways. We need him in the slot.

Scandrick can still play the slot if he starts

Just move him there when team’s bring on their 3rd WR and put Jenkins on the outside.

They used to do the same thing with Newman before Scandrick was drafted.

That's true.

What’s nice is that they will have both those options (TNew and Scandrick) in the dime or 4-6 if they want to keep Jenkins and Ball/Brown/Mickens on the outside.

Either way,

The 3rd corner is basically a starter anyway, just like the Nickel LB. To my untrained eye, Scandrick looked better last season, but I think it all depends on who made a bigger leap this offseason.
