Romo vs. Woods vs. Boehner
I'll be getting up early tomorrow to see the 0630 Tee Time with Tony Romo, Tiger Woods and Rep John Boehner at Congressional Country Club...Catch the latest info here: www.attnational.org. I expect there to be a lot of "boos" from the local deadskins, but I also want to see a lot of Cowboy Colors cheering him on - I think he can take Tiger in the first 15 holes...its the last 3 I worry about *(HA!)

Do we know if this is going to be on TV?
I enjoyed watching the deal he did last year with Justin Timberlake and that guy that had cancer.

FYI, that guy that had cancer
died a couple of weeks ago. Matt Lauer was the 4th in that group and he did a brief, nice piece on him during that morning’s Today Show broadcast.
On a happier note, this year’s event at Bethpage Black is showing this weekend.

Just came back from the tournament
What a blast! Great to see Tony and Tiger in person for my first time ever. I stayed with them from when they first teed off (the 10th hole) until the 3rd hole. By then there were too many people on the course and it was going really slow. I’ll post some photos once I figure out how to download them.
From what I saw, Romo only had 1 birdie and maybe 2 bogies, so I think he was one over through 12 holes. He definitely favors the right side of the fairway/rough, and had to really scramble to salvage par a couple times. Tiger didn’t really seem like he was on top of his game, as I doubt he takes celebrity outings too seriously, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was +1 as well, or even.
I “talked” with Romo twice. On his way to the putting green to the first tee, I was about 5 feet away from him and said “Good luck Tony” and he sort of looked at me sideways and said “Appreciate it.” Then after he somehow made a par after a rough tee shot, I said “Nice save” and he smiled and said thanks. Real heartfelt conversations. And I did notice plenty of PYT’s on the course who were very interested in Tony.
One more thing – he spent the vast majority of his time walking down the fairway and on the greens with Tiger. Of course, Tiger is a magnificent physical specimen, and he looked the part this morning. But despite what Tex may say, Romo looked just as fit staning next to Woods, except Tony was taller and more muscular as you might expect from an NFL player. But so far as I could tell, Romo did not look “bottom heavy” at all, and definitely looks like he could, with minimal effort, kick Tex’s ass.

Summary of the Day
DavidH22 – Looks like we picked up the Foursome right after you left! We waited on the First Tee (they played the back-nine first) and got a spot right beside the tee. When they arrived, it was electric – there were 100’s of people around, and this was the first time we had ever seen Tiger or Tony live and in person. Both were jovial and laughing together, talking to Steve Williams and Tony’s caddie. They both teed up on the Pro Tees, Tiger teed off first, a blast down the middle, and Tony hit it just as far, although in the right rough. We yelled “Go Cowboys!” and he looked over a smiled. The fans were great – lots of Cowboy gear. We followed them for several holes, and chatted in between holes as we positioned ourselves ahead of the crowd and waited at the next tee to see them close up.
Tiger recognizes the Cowboys are “America’s Team” = why else would he choose Tony Romo to join him and leave Jason Campbell in the group behind with Antwan Randle El, Mike Weir and Coach Bruce Boudreau (Capitals)? He even wore Cowboys colors! Can you imagine him wearing Burgundy and Gold and playing wiht Chris Cooley at the Byron Nelson Classic? No way! The local Deadskin fans were furious – the press was in high-frenzy, with many of them (including local Maryland Coach and avid golfer Gary Williams) calling out the fans for not booing Tony more!
I do have to give props to Jason Campbell, though. I’ve allowed one of my 4 kids to be a Redskin fan (what a tolerant dad!) and Jason signed a golf ball for him. Tony and Tiger simply were NOT signing during the round. Apparently they were before and after…I also enjoyed talking to my favorite NHL Coach between holes. Congressman Boehner was very eager to talk to us and said it was an awesome experience to play with Tony and Tiger (although he was a Bengals fan!!)
I’ll post some pics on the Facebook page too – I hope this bodes well for Tony – No one is better in the clutch than Tiger- and if Tony can learn from the greatest – he can be a great QB!!

Thanks to you and DavidH22 for the reports
Almost like being there!
I’d hate to be Campbell these days,. I think he’s a pretty good QB, but man, what a job his own team has done on him and his reputation.
