Happy Fourth of July from BTB

Last week, 5700 US Navy boys celebrated a little early, anchoring in Phuket, Thailand and going to one of the seedier towns in this country, Patong. Call it an economic stimulus for the local economy (cough~bargirls) … but definitely how these shipmen will remember this year’s independence day.

I’ll be doing shots and downing beers at a local “farong” (foreigner) pub … with at most 4-5 other Americans, as well as with the owners (Turkish / Muslim / love the states and what the USA stands for), and hopefully a few local Thai girls (known around here as Dee Dee = NOT bar girls)…

Over 200 years ago our founding fathers put their lives and families on the line to go up against the most powerful nation with the most powerful military in the world. They signed the Declaration of Independence. The penalty for disloyalty to the crown, death by hanging. It was liberty or death.

Today, 1000’s of our young men and women risk everything so we can enjoy the liberty won by those founding fathers. Please remember what this day is all about. God Bless America!

Cut it out! Cut it out! Cut it out! The hell’s the matter with you? Stupid! We’re all very different people. We’re not Watusi. We’re not Spartans. We’re Americans, with a capital ‘A’, huh? You know what that means? Do ya? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We’re the underdog. We’re mutts! Here’s proof: his nose is cold! But there’s no animal that’s more faithful, that’s more loyal, more loveable than the mutt. Who saw “Old Yeller?” Who cried when Old Yeller got shot at the end?

And in one week from today I’ll be done. Wouldn’t take it back for anything.

After 20 years of service in the Air Force, I am proud to serve to protect you! I do miss it!!

On a much more somber note, R.I.P Steve McNair. He was maybe the toughest QB I ever saw play and it is a tragedy to see him gunned down. My condolences to his family and his friends.
