So much for "camp cupcake".
Wade continues to live up to his promise that things will change.

Renewed focus?
Wade knows this is his last chance to make it or break it.

Looks like a "killer" schedule to me
But I really do think that’s what we need.

I'm starting a Training Camp Fantasy League
You get points for guys without pulled hammies, people who survive cuts, stats during scrimmages and number of times key phrases are used by Tim “Chubs” McMahon and his DMN Snark Patrol (“Camp Cupcake”, “coachable Roy Williams”, “step up this year”, “leadership”; “TO”, etc.).
Who’s in?

Wow
Six more practices! I like it, you could pick one thing and get a lot better at it with six more prctices.

Cowboys are going to surprise people this season
Especially Eagles fans who think we will suck.

Camp Cupcake
I hate reading the term “Camp Cupcake” mainly because I think it originated from JFE. The use of that term gives her some sort of creditability she certainly does not deserve.
I attended the camp in San Antonio during Coach Parcells’ first year & there wasn’t anything tough about it. It looked to me like it was about half as tough as what Ervin, Bates, & Coach Joe have been putting their guys through.
During the current system in the NFL, no training camps are as tough as what they were years ago, before the Cap & free agency, Etc. It’s a shame that Coach Phillips has gotten a bad rap for running a camp like everyone else does. It’s especially a shame because it resulted from some idiot writer thinking she is cute.

+100
I hate that aspect of sports media – people with little to no actually knowledge “call out” players and coaches and don’t have to have one bit of evidence, and suddenly it’s damaged reputations and left them explaining or just biting their lips.
I’d love to see reporting on the media types – let’s analyze JFE’s grammatical errors or JJT’s love life or Tim McMahon’s battle with weight. Let’s speculate on whether they have what it takes to be a leader in the press room. Whose going to get cut from the illustrious ESPN roster? Is that really Kiper’s hair? Is Golic sleeping with Greenberg?

Pet Cats
Who is ready to declare their Pet Cats for this TC? By my rules, they don’t need to be rookies, just guys you hope/expect will break out with a monster season in 2009.
Top of my Pet Cat list is Isaiah Stanback. Maybe because I, too, am rehabbing from having a knee scoped for torn meniscus and am hoping the operation results in super powers.
Name your Cats…
Keep doing what you been doing, keep getting what you been getting.

This is really hard
Miles Austin has to top my list, but then it’s Bennett, F Jones and Tash. I really think these are the guys they are going to not only replace TO with, but maybe make the offense even more dangerous than before.

Mine 2.
The Canadian newspaper doesn’t know what it’s talking about. It’s gotta be a hoax.
#1 Just because it’s a different country doesn’t mean the show’s candidates do not have to remain under contractual silence until after the last episode has ended. Unless the Allouettes paid Hawkins a boatload of money, sound of record ripping
Lame, maybe it is true. I just googled him to find something that supports my hoax argument and found this:

Again, lame.

My Pet Cats
On Offense, I’m going with guard Greg Isdaner. Scout.com had him ranked as their #8 guard in this draft, as a junior. From his NFL combine bio:
Positives: Tall with adequate lower and upper body builds. Comes out of his stance with fair quickness, gets his hands active right away and is able to push his man down the line when coming off the ball. Strong angle technique, gets to his man’s opposite shoulder and anchors to create a lane or will push his defender so he takes himself out of the play. Extends his arms in pass protection to keep defenders at bay. Uses one hand to help the center while watching for later blitzers if he’s free. Good footwork in space; gets in front of screens and to linebackers at the second level.
Negatives: Plays too tall; must prove he can anchor against stronger NFL tackles. Not dominating as a run blocker, lacking the strength to keep tackles from getting to backs as they go through the hole. Agile in space but has average straight-line speed. Did not play with his hand down much in West Virginia’s offense, so his drive-blocking ability is in question. Choppy in his lateral movement at times. Leans too far into his man when run blocking; can get ripped off or lose his balance. Must work on landing his downfield cut blocks. Missed 2008 spring drills with shoulder surgery.
I would think having Procter and maybe McQuistan ahead of him that this Isdaner kid has a shot at shoving one of those guys aside, or at least making the practice squad.
On defense, I guess I will go with the humangous NT Jonas Seawright. The competition to backup Rat isn’t all that, so maybe he has a chance to resume his career. Plus, he has those cool Chuck Norris-type myths circulating around him.

Well, I figured the guys drafted in rounds 3-5 all should make the team.
The 6-7 guys just have to show some potential and ST play to make it. They will get their chances becuz they are draft picks, so I thought I’d dig deeper.

Pet Cats
I have several pet cats I would like to see really break out but the one who I think will explode is Marty B. If you look at his numbers from last year they will not overwhelm you by any means but he really passes the eye test. I think Bennet’s RAC ability is on par with Sahnnon Sharpe’s when Sharpe was in his prime.
If the wide receivers stay relatively healthy, I see Bennet used to suit his skills. Short to intermediate passes and a lot of TE screens will allow him to really use that run after the catch ability.
Two TE sets, with a good running game & judicious use of the best TE tandem in football, could replace whatever Owens brought to the table.

David Buehler
Should have great impact on major weak area from last year.

with having a kicker who can actually play safety on KOs and lay some wood.

Rookies
My rookie Pet Cats are Steve McGee and David Buehler, plus all the kids in the secondary. Role players, special teamers and backups every one, but the youngsters will bring some much needed energy to the field house.

Give em hell, Wade!!
Love it. Schedule looks good to me (sitting on my ass as work)………
On an unrelated note: Anyone know when the Cowboys catalog comes out?
My b-day is next week and I swear I had it by this time last year since my wife typically orders me a few things.

No way
D-Ware is not taking himself off. I dont buy that, especially in a year where he came so close to the sack record.

Karma's a bitch
Greg was a warrior for his time in Big D but now the football gods are angered by his diarreah of the mouth and have banished him to Oakland where one season feels like an eternity. Enjoy your increased playing time big mouth!!

So far the consensus from other sites has been that you cannot
show where Dware missed a large number or snaps other than the Seahags game when he got dinged up on one play.

nothing like going out with a bang
i was irritated by ellis’ whining in recent years, but always felt like he was basically a pretty good guy. this episode is not endearing him to me. too bad this is how he wants to be remembered in dallas.

I predict that
after a key player is hurt in the first half of the season, the press will savage WP saying that we trained too often and too hard.

I think Austin is the guy that must show up and become a real threat. I think Bennett, Felix Jones,
and Choice ‘will’ live up to their respective potentials, this year. Out 2 TE offense will be spellbinding. Both can get deep, catch, and run with ball. Choice is a naturaly gifted runner. I look to him for Ron Springs/Preston Pierson type contributions. In the long run, he may become our featured RB. Felix is the home run hitter, and will simply blow our minds all season. Our backfield and TE situation could not be better. WR, is all about Austin. If he can put the scare into the DBs, then RW can show his stuff. I just hope he can, when the time comes.
