Tim McMahon reports that wide receiver Roy Williams is having X-rays and an MRI done on his left wrist.

Williams felt soreness in the wrist after using his left hand to break his fall when he got tangled up with Orlando Scandrick on a deep ball during the morning practice. The soreness got worse throughout the day, leading the Cowboys to schedule a doctor's appointment for Williams.

"We'll see where it is," Jerry Jones said. "It might not be anything structurally wrong."

I've decided to not worry about injuries

All it’s doing is giving me a headache. Let the chips fall where they may!

should be on speed dial right now, assuming Roy’s injury is serious.

Hopefully just a mild sprain

More time for Hurd to shine.

X-rays came back negative!

He does have a sprained left wrist, though. Here’s TimmyMac’s update.

Here’s Josh Ellis’ update.

The 2nd preseason game is a good one to rest starters. ’Twould be nice to see Hurd get some exp with the starting O.

well that's good news

the question now is the severity/grade of the sprain, will await MRI results for that.

Thanks

I was holding my breath. Let’s knock on wood for the MRI results.

Yes,

I think MRI shows if they have ligament damage..

Yes Yes Yes

I want a healthy Roy, whenever that turns out to be. It seemed like we rushed some guys back last year, like Kosier, Newman and Austin, and it bit us.

Yes...

X-rays just show black and white (bones and some cartilage)

MRIs shows bones, ligaments, cartilage, tendons

Glad to hear that.

These are big men moving very fast and that Alamodome turf is less than ideal for falling on it this many days. The same injury could have occurred on field or natural, but I’ll be glad when they’re out of there, although management is raving about the amount of work they’ve gotten done.

that's hilarious

it’s funny because it’s true.
And been true for 3 years. Did you see him last week? that dude is awesomely unimpressive. There’s no team in the NFL he’d be a #3 or better on.

by Joey2zs on Aug 16, 2009 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions

Hopefully it's nothing. We have 3 weeks before the season starts.

I pointed out yesterday that we have one of the worst 2-5 WR’s in the league.

We are going into the season with 3 Hank Baskett’s.

Hopefully it’s nothing.

by Sharksbreath on Aug 16, 2009 9:14 PM CDT reply actions

and you're dead wrong about that

Crayton, Austin and Hurd are solid and with an eilte qb like Romo, they are definitely good enough.

In Romo we Trust

by Terry on Aug 16, 2009 9:43 PM CDT up reply actions

4 #2 WRs?

as DC Fanatic asked on his blog the other day, do we actually have four #2 WRs? Possibly yes, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing when you have the best TE duo and arguably the best RB trio in the league including the dynamic Uncle Felix.

by scottmaui on Aug 17, 2009 1:27 AM CDT up reply actions

y'know...

i dislike the cynism of your post, but I can’t refute it. Crayton is ok, though. At this point, would you rather have Eddie Royal, or ANY of the Cowboys’ recievers? Would you give up RWII for Santana Moss?

by Joey2zs on Aug 16, 2009 9:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Pat Crayton is the same as Hank Baskett?

Pat Crayton has played in 66 games in his career, Hank Baskett has played 47 games. So let’s compare Crayton’s career stats to Baskett’s current stats in 47 games, but extrapolate his averages to 66 games.

Crayton (66 games): 159 rec., 2266 yds, 18 TDs
Baskett (adj.66 games): 99 rec. 1469 yds, 9 TD’s

Crayton has 61 more receptions, almost 800 more yards and double the TD’s. Crayton has three straight year’s of over 500 yds., Baskett has never broken 500 yds. in a season. Yep, they sure look like the same player to me.

You may have pointed it out yesterday, but it doesn’t make it true.

by Dave Halprin on Aug 16, 2009 9:50 PM CDT up reply actions

I disagree..

I think we have some unknowns, but there is no lack of talent.. We actually have the best 2-5 in the NFC East.. Plus we have the best TE in football and the best TE combo in football.

McNabb of 2000-02 and Tom Brady of 2001-06

both played very successfully with 3-4 Hank Basketts, btw…

by DavidH22 on Aug 16, 2009 9:30 PM CDT reply actions

So which is it?

Are they, or are they not hank baskets? You contradict yourself in posts you wrote 10 seconds apart. Are they solid, or are they Hank Basketts?

Also, if the Cowboys WRs fail, you’ll admit that it’s Romo’s fault, ok? Because the play of the WR is irrelevent if the QB is elite like Romo, correct?

by Joey2zs on Aug 16, 2009 9:50 PM CDT up reply actions

I never said they were Hank Basketts

I was agreeing with the DavidH that you don’t need a bunch of stud WRs to have a great passing game or offense.

and I never said the play of the WRs is irrelevant

I said our WRs are solid and good and you don’t need super stud WRs to succeed.

We will need the D be solid, but our rush attack is great.

Just watched Roy Williams on local TV

interviewed after the MRI, he’s wearing a brace on his wrist.

He’s moving it around, twisting it and saying he’s planning to play Friday and practice tomorrow.

MRI negative

per DMN

Williams sprained his wrist during Sunday’s morning workout after he got tangled up with cornerback Orlando Scandrick. The MRI and X rays were negative and the Cowboys said he was day to day.

because you want him 100% healthy

I doubt he is 100% healthy after wrist sprain in less then week. I am sure he could play through the pain, but why? Not worth the risk.
