Isiah Stanback and John Madden
I just picked up my copy of Madden 10 yesterday, and I just thought it was humorous that on the back cover they have Isiah Stanback hopping over someone to make a catch.I have no idea why the people at madden would pick him of all people to put on the back cover since thats more playing time than he has actually seen or probably will ever see. I just think thats kinda funny, thats all.

first
And last time he’ll make a catch like that

That first
is the first time I have seen the first person on a fanpost say that they were first.

Take that back
I was First on the very first Montecito Tex fanpost.
Highlight of my life — I still have the screenshot.

Fingers crossed
Hope the Curse of Madden does not extend to the players featured on the back

Maybe if a player is featured on the back
the curse has the opposite effect. I can envision it now…Stanback league MVP.

Graphic designers don't consider the actual players
they look at how dynamic the picture is, availability of pictures they get from the NFL, and the color…blah…blah…blah…
I haven't seen the box yet, but the same thing applies
the graphic design department isn’t going to necessarily keep up with who is playing much and who isn’t…
Stanback is not going to make a catch
He’s diving on top of a pile in a screenshot that is supposed to show a new feature where you fight for fumbles in dogpiles.

"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."

I saw that Stanback had a great practice yesterday
I think all of you Stanback haters may be in for a surprise when he makes the team

I don't think anyone hates Stanback, but there are Stanback Skeptics, and given his track record, that is reasonable

I think people do hate Stanback.
It’s like guys don’t even want him to stay healthy. I don’t understand why. I wan’t all of these guys to stay healthy so that the coaching staff can truly make decisions based on the players’ talent and potential.

I certainly do not hate the guy, I hope he becomes a big time player, but the clock is ticking

I'd love to see him stay healthy for a season...
but on the other side of the coin I’d hate for us to try to sneak Ogletree onto the practice squad, lose him and then lose Stanback to another season ending shoulder injury. Two seasons, two shoulder injuries worries me a bit.
Garrett needs to get a clue!
He spent all his twitter time bragging about what a great QB he is
Then when somebody called him out for it, he made his twitter feed private.
How long does it take to learn the position?
Drew Pearson was an All-Pro 2 years after entering the league as a Free Agent, after being a college QB. Crayton was a regular contributor 2 years after making the transition. Randel El had 47 receptions his rookie year.
Do we keep him on the roster in hopes he will blossom into an NFL Wide Receiver? Or do we go with youth – in Ogletree – and give him an opportunity? Or do we go with a waaaay more talented, and slightly proven player who has been in the league only 2 more years – Matt Jones. My vote is for Ogletree. But I can see an argument for Jones. I just can’t see keeping this loser (who can’t seem to learn the position) on our roster another year.
when you're spending time in the trainer's room
instead of on the field, it’s obviously going to take longer, just common sense.

Why can't he run routes
You can still learn to run routes with a bum shoulder… unless you have the IQ of Marcus Vick.
by JimmyJohnson on Aug 20, 2009 1:40 PM CDT up reply actions
what about when he had his shin splints and sprained knee?
and running routes isn’t going to make you learn the position anyway, you gotta be out there fighting off CBs and you can’t do that with any type of injury.

BTW, Matt Jones isn't way more talented than Stanback
Only reason he was a 1st rd pick was because he ran a super fast 40 time at the combine and the Jags got sucked.

Size and Speed
are Stanback’s only talents. Matt Jones has much more of both – in fact, the fastest 40 at the combine.

Stanback can run much better than Jones after the catch and is much quicker and stronger
straight line speed is great for go routes but thats about it.

Oh.... Sorry...
I guess I overlooked the incredible runs after the catch on his 2 receptions for 24 yards when he played. You’re right. He runs after the catch waaaay better than Jones

Just wait
Jones will be playing well for a team before the season is over

I hope avoids the injury bug this season
I’d really like to see what a healthy Stanback can do. I still remember him most for catching up to Felix on that TD return vs the Iggles. That was some speed on display.
