A league source tells us that Cowboys receiver Roy Williams suffered a broken collarbone during his Thursday night collision with cornerback Orlando Scandrick.
...developing.
i pray this is not true, i fear our season may be lost before it begins if so, this makes crayton our #1???????
This virually moves everyone up one slot that they shouldnt be in..... TO being gone really hurts now. Please tell me its not true

I wouldn't say it's official because PFT says so
but it doesn’t look good

So how long out for a broken collarbone?
is it a season ending injury? Well, time to finally call Matt Jones up…

4-6 weeks
This freaking sucks

well considering TO
is hurt, hasn’t practiced in weeks, and may have something along the lines of the same injury that ended Dieon Sanders time here and Felix’s season last year, I don’t think losing TO makes it any worse

if it is broken or seperated
then hes prolly out most or all of sept. I’ve been thinking they have a good chance to get off to a nice start. With Tampa Bay, Denver and KC those should be wins with or without roy. The home games happen to be the tougher opponets. I hope these reports ar B.S. but if not its time for the young recievers to get ready. Miles and Sammy will be getting allot of PT.

It could be worse
if it were longer than 4-6 weeks…if it were a torn ACL or another season-ending injury. If it happened on opening day instead of with two weeks of preseason. Or yes, if it were Romo or Ware or Felix Jones.

If Roy is out the opening day receiver corps would be...
Hurd
Austin
Crayton
Ogletree
Stanback
Sometimes you don’t know what you are capable of doing until you finally just…do it! Luckily they have two fantastic tight ends and a nice trio of backs.
But now maybe the Cowbolys won’t go undefeated. Damn…

dallas is saying there is an injury but
if they know its broken wouldn’t they release that tonight? I would think if its not broken they would need more time/tests to determine the injury and extent of it. Just an Optomistic thought.

god i hope so...
i’m now reading that the healing time for adults on broken collarbone can take 4 months…that’s killer.

No way
He’s got nothing left. Ike Hilliard or Matt Jones are more likely replacements.

see below (from wikipedia)
Healing time varies based on age, health, complexity and location of the break as well as the bone displacement. For adults, a minimum of 3–4 weeks of sling immobilization is normally employed to allow initial bone and soft tissue healing, teenagers require slightly less, children can often achieve the same level in two weeks. During this period, patients may remove the sling to practice passive pendulum ROM exercises to reduce atrophy in the elbow and shoulder, but they are minimized to 15-20 degrees off vertical.
The immobilization is followed by a theraputic regimen of passive exercises, and later of active exercises. Full radiological union is typically achieved in 16 weeks for adult surgical patients, and shorter times are achieved by teenagers and young children. In patients who participated in prescribed physical therapy, 85-100% mobility returned in 6–9 months, with full strength returning in 9–12 months.

aikman broke his back in 97
I think it was 97 and he didnt miss much time. Call me crazy but if its an injury that sidelines him 4-5 games I think it wont be a big problem. As long as the other offensive weapons are healthy.

Stanback and Ogeltree are probably both roster locks now
If hes out long Im going to hate missing him on the field as much as all the ppl complaining about gim like he decided to get injured. Time to flex out Mart B haha

PFT is bull
x rays don’t reveal anything. It was a sprain.

whew! huge sign of relief
i hope that’s true. i was barely holding out hope that PFT had the story wrong, but sounds like they did. if it really isn’t broken and is just sprained, he could easily be ready in time for Bucs. can’t wait to find out more after the MRI tomorrow.

PFT is now posting dueling reports
From PFT:
UPDATE: Another source tells us that the X-rays were negative. Our original source insists that it’s a break, and that Williams will miss 6-8 weeks.
SECOND UPDATE: Williams told multiple players it was broken. X-rays reveal otherwise. MRI coming tomorrow. Sorry for the confusion. It’s one of the hazards of real-time reporting, and it’s one we’d like to avoid.
