X-rays negative on Roy Williams' shoulder and collarbone
That comes via dallasmorningnews.com
"X-rays did not reveal a broken bone in Roy Williams' shoulder or
collarbone, two sources told Todd Archer.
Williams' suffered a sprained left shoulder when he collided with
Orlando Scandrick near the end of Thursday night's open practice. We
do not yet know the timetable for his return.
The Cowboys will provide an update Friday. "
WHEEEEW!
At least I can sleep well tonight- I would think 2 weeks would be enough time for Roy to recover for the reg. season.

Oh hell yes...
Quincy just told me…let’s hope the MRI doesn’t reveal anything further, and that he’s back in the lineup by week 3, if not week 1.
I have noticed a new resurgence in Cowboy hating in 2007, which can only mean one thing- We're back.

PFT is sticking by their original broken collarbone report....
From PFT:
“UPDATE: Another source tells us that the X-rays were negative. Our original source insists that it’s a break, and that Williams will miss 6-8 weeks.
SECOND UPDATE: Williams told multiple players it was broken. X-rays reveal otherwise. MRI coming tomorrow. Sorry for the confusion. It’s one of the hazards of real-time reporting, and it’s one we’d like to avoid."
So I’m not exhaling yet….let’s hope for a sprain….

For the record, if it IS broken...
….I think our options are Ike Hilliard or ride with what we’ve got….move Crayton to the outside and put Hilliard in the slot.
Matt Jones won’t know this offense and Roy’s role. Picture Roy when he arrived mid-last season and you get the idea.
4-6 weeks for recovery on a broken clavicle, but I’d worry it would still be fragile and he could rebreak it, like RW1’s forearm last year…

Again, IF it is broken...
….here’s our schedule while Roy would be out:
@ Bucs
Giants
Panthers
@ Broncos
@ Chiefs
Bye week
Not great, but manageable.

Aikman and Buck are even talking about it
Wish Jerry would just say something himself. Put the rumors to rest

it was on the fox broadcast of Tampa Bay and Miami
Aikman said how reports were Roy broke his collerbone and that New reports are it’s not broken.

the dude had two awesome seasons the last year and might be cheap
he is doninant and what no one is reporting is that the Bronco’s lied to him and put him in canger last season. the team wanted told him he was fine to play with his hip injury but when he went to get a second opinion after the season, that doctor brought to light the true danger of the injury. it was irresponsible for the broncos to let him play. seeing as how they do not want to pay him, i would feel used as well
by Becho on Aug 28, 2009 11:15 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well it's kind of hard to imagine there would be a break if the x-rays don't show it
my understanding of MRI’s is that their purpose is to see if there is any damage to softer tissue.
by quincyyyyy on Aug 27, 2009 10:30 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah like a dislocation but hopefully it's not that
the shoulder could have popped out then popped back in, but I’m not sure how visible ligaments are on an x-ray. I would imagine MRI’s are better for that.
by quincyyyyy on Aug 27, 2009 10:34 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
If the shoulder was dislocated
It pops out and stays out. A subluxation is when it pops out and goes back in.

fanposts
one of the great things about fan posts is we get instant updates and discussion without having to wait for the main page to break news.
one of the drawbacks of fanposts is that we get 4 posts in short succession on the same topic, just slightly updating the same story lol. pushing other good fanposts off the list and splitting up the discussion of the same topic into multiple threads.
not to be the fanpost police here, and it’s ways too late anyway lol, but my suggestion would be to try to keep the discussion to one fanpost, check to see if it’s already been posted and then post updates there, and hopefully the originally poster can update the main post as the news breaks, instead of making a new fanpost for every slight progression of the story.

yeah, i sort of thought about that...
but then you can’t change the title from “roy williams- broken collarbone?” to “roy williams- xrays negative” and then you give me and guys like me a heart attack…

not sure if this is what you meant
but you can change the title of the fanpost to reflect the latest news update on the topic

From the Department of Redundancy Department
4 fanposts and a fanshot plus a frontpage story on Roy’s shoulder, I admire the efforts to contribute but it’s kind of going overboard when all the facts have not been confirmed.

He's our number 1!!!
We must speculate!!!
Seriously though, I hope he’s all well and good. Would hate to see this collarbone rumor/thing/potential prognosis effect his going over the middle AT ALL.
We’re deep at wideout with the minions we have. Let’s just roll with the punches and check down to Felix, blast Barber up the D’s butts, and use JWitt and MartyB to drive DC’s crazy. We don’t need no #1!
Rollin’ the dice on defense, too.

I agree
I guess everyone is just extremely psyched for this season. I just thought it was funny that Roy’s possible collarbone break threw so many guys into panic.
If I hadn’t been watching the snoozefest MIA @ TB game, I’m sure I would have thrown a few comments in.( BTW Sammy Strougher looked pretty good out there. Too bad Dallas didn’t take a chance on him.)

It's a relief it's not very serious
But the way Romo is spreading the ball around may show that if he misses a game or two the offense may not struggle like it did when T.O. wasn’t on the field. Williams adds something to the game, but we’d be able to get by for a couple of weeks without him, I think.
But hey, this is all the better!

I’ve done my share of Williams bashing on here, but that’s a huge loss if he’s gone. Nobody wants to see injuries.
