[UPDATE]: NOW W/ PICS: Tarheel Paul's Trip To Dallas

I've struggled for a couple of weeks now on how I wanted this post to go. I didn't know if I should post about the game itself, the 1st team versus the 2nd team, the positives and negatives of our beloved Cowboys through my beer googles. And then I just decided to do what I have been doing a lot lately and that is speaking from the heart.

Let me start of by simply saying thank you to everyone. Not just for the game tickets or the airline tickets, or the awesome hotel room, or the incredible gift that was waiting for us at the hotel. But thank you for the joy and happiness you brought into our lives. It's been almost 3 months now since we lost our precious baby girl Olivia. And it has been a hell on earth which I can not put into words for anyone to understand. Nor do I want anyone to understand. Trust me when I tell you that you don't want to understand. But for 3 days, we smiled, we laughed, we cheered, we got drunk, we relaxed, and we had a good time. Sure, my thoughts often drifted towards Olivia and how happy she must be to see her Mommy and Daddy happy. But for a short 3 days the world was o.k. again. And that was so nice. It reminded me of how beautiful life can be and how I felt before that tragic day. It gave me hope to push foward and do what I KNOW Olivia would want me to do and that is to be happy, to smile, and to laugh. It's still extreamly hard and not a day goes by that I don't break down at least once because I miss her so bad but I know that part will never go away and I just have to look foward to the day that I do get to see her beautiful face again. And I truly beleive that I will. It will be a day of great rejoycing ! So for now, I must live for her and through her. I can still miss her, I can still cry every day but I also can be happy again. And that is what I took from this trip. And for that I can't thank you enough. You did more than send a fan to a game. You helped save this fan's life.

Thank you with tons of love,

Paul and Tammy

P.S. I have emailed some pics from the game to Raul. I couldn't figure out how to attach them to this post so hopefully he can do it for me.

Great to hear from you!

I am so glad that you and your wife had a great time at the game and a couple of good days! You have been in the thoughts of my wife and I for quite some time now, and we are pleased to hear that you guys had at least a little bit of fun.

Got the pics

I don’t have the security to add pictures to someone else’s post, but I did forward them to Dave and since he’s the all-mighty, grand poobah of BTB, there may be a way for him to do it…

As for the trip, I for one, and I’m sure I’m not alone, was happy to help out a fellow Cowboys fan and family. The purpose of what we wanted to do was to show you and your family that, while the heartache is real and deep at this time, life goes on. The hurt eases but the hole never goes away, if you understand what I’m saying. And you are correct – your daughter was most likely looking down on you two and smiling ear to ear at seeing her Mommy and Daddy smiling again. I know you believe that she wants that for you, because seeing you guys smile and enjoying each other will bring a smile to HER face as well.

And that, my friend, is the greatest gift of all.

God bless…

Congratulations Bob Hayes

WOW ... GREAT POST PAUL!!!

Typing with tears of happiness in my eyes. I’m really warmed knowing BTB was able to help … but don’t forget to also give yourself a little credit for those smiles and good times you two had throughout the weekend! I agree with you and Raul and others that your girl is smiling down on you, and loves to see you smiling back…

Thanks again for your post… your “writing from the heart” is beautiful stuff… it got to me!

I look forward to seeing you more and more around BTB this season :)

Maybe the most amazing post I've read

I think we owe you thanks instead – you’ve shared some difficult things with your BTB family and given all of us some amazing perspectives to carry with us.

The thoughtfulness and courage you and your wife approach life with will indeed make Olivia proud of her parents. And all of us as well.

God bless.

Man i just had to wipe my eyes dry but

I’m so happy that you and Tammy had a good time Paul. I could never understand what you are going through but I have an aunt that can. She just lost her only child to a motorcycle accident about 2 months ago and shes going through the same things you are. It’s not an easy thing to do what you did – to go and try and forget everything and have a good time, but you did it and we commend you for that. There’s no doubt that your baby girl was smiling down on you and happy to see her parents happy again. Just always remember everyone here is a family and I think its well known now just how good of a family we have here.

The most beautiful part of your post, to me,

was that you know your little girl would want to see you happy, smiling, and laughing, because I’m sure that’s the way you remember her, too.
I’m glad that for just a few moments, we were able to help you do just that.

I’d also like to add that the example that you and Tammy are setting is a valuable gift to us. Thank you.

Glad to help

Paul, that is great to hear that you and Tammy were able to enjoy yourselves, at least briefly. I truly was glad to help. So many times, when people close to us experience a tragedy, it is hard to be able to do anything other than offer condolences. In this case, it seemed obvious what we could to help you out in this time of need.

Like I told ya before Paul, we’re all family here.

BTW, the brick w/ your name on it is BADASS… I’d actually thought about doin’ it at one point in time. -Damn it… lol

Ditto… It’s awesome to put a face – especially a smiling one – to the name.

GREAT PICS … That wide-screen shot really shows off Jerry’s talent.

This is the 4th time I've tried to post a message to you Paul

I’ve never been able to get to the end through the tears for your family. Most of us will never fully understand your loss but we’ve all hurt for you too. Your post was perfect. The healing has begun. Thank you for being such an inspiration to me.

Those are really good pictures.

I was using your pics to show my friend how sweet the stadium is. Your pics show it off better than most of the press pics.

I'm glad you and Tammy had a good time.

You deserve it. Just remember that your life has been enriched because Olivia has been a part of it. We hug our little girl just a little tighter after hearing your story, so she’s enriched our lives too. You’ve been in our prayers. You will see your little angel again.

Thanks for sharing your adventure with us and I’m glad everyone was able to help with this.
