Preseason Tickets to Home Opener
This is not a post i really wanted to make but i have to. First i would like to say thank you to all the BTB'ers that were willing to surrender those tickets to me. It brought some sunshine into an other wise dark life. But my wife and I are going to have to respectfully decline the tickets. We just flat out can not afford the trip at this time. Believe me, we tried every way possible to make it happen but we just could not do it. Things are really tight right now with both of us missing so much work and having to pay for things that we never ever imagined having to pay for. I won't everyone to understand that this is not a plea for donations or anything like that. You guys have done enough with all of your comments, prayers, and the tickets themselves. It absolutely sucks because i was really looking foward to it but, facts are facts and right now we just can't afford it. So I didn't want to wait till the last second and have the tickets and then not be able to go. I dont know what he is going to do about redistrubting the tickets to some other lucky person but who ever gets them keep me and my baby girl in your thoughts. Again, thanks to everyone who agreed to give me the tickets. I just apologize for not being able to hold up my end of deal.
Thanks again everyone,
Tarheel Paul

There is no need to apologize at all. You are going through an extremely tough time and I think we all understand that it is hard to simply uproot and go to Dallas in lieu of what you have gone through. The most important thing is that you know that we here at BTB have your back and are here for you in this tough time. Stay strong and don’t feel bad at all for not being able to go.
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
i know you dont want it
but i dont know what grizz wants to do but ill be willing to donate to help you. Either way your strength gives me strength so thank you
What the French?! Toast!
I knew you guys would do this...........
which is why i hesitated to post. You can ask Grizz yourself, i told him you guys would do this. I just don’t want to feel like some kind of charity case. If you guys can come up with a way for us to go then that would be great. But i just didnt want it to come across as me asking for it because I truly am not. All you guys have done more than enough. But if you could make it happen it would make my day. Man, i dont even really know what to say. Except thanks.
one more thing bigham............
Trust me when i tell you there is not a lot of strength here. I really don’t know how i make it from day to day. But I do. I really truly dont know how. I wake up every morning and can’t believe that i’m alive. And then i pray for god to give all the strength he has for me to my wife. And i really believe he does that because she is an amazingly strong woman. Our son just left for basic training in the Airforce yesterday, which was her birthday. So now, she has lost both her babies in 2 months. You wanna talk about strength, now she has strength.
You'd be surprised Paul
Your gettng up every morning and facing life is more strength than a lot people ever have to muster.

Please reconsider
I have a few unused miles on Delta and they (and other airlines) have programs for just such a thing.
Secondly, my step-father works for American and can get buddy passes for around $125 a piece.
Please take a few days to see what we can do. I can think of nothing better than knowing you and your lovely wife will be there, even if I can’t.

Like I said to thebigham............
Whatever you guys can do would be awesome. I just feel bad that i cant do it myself and you guys have given me so much support and now your willing to do this. I mean, I just feel, hell i dont know what i feel. But i’m up for anything i guess.

I'll echo this.
Give a little time Paul, maybe the members here can hook you up. You guys need a break. Sorry I have nothing to offer personally but it makes people feel good to do things for those who need a little break. Specially a fellow Cowboy fan.
I'll echo Benthere
You guys could definitely use a break.

I wish i lived in the Dallas area.
You could crash at my house. Some one set up a donation place, and I’ve got a hundred bucks to help out.

How about another approach
Frequent flier miles, hotel points. I’d be willing to come up with either fly or house you guys at a hotel. I am a Road Warrior and have plenty of both. No money out of my pocket, so no reason to feel bad about that.
There’s no advice I could give you on how this might help, I know you are living through this every second, every minute of each day. I’ve had tragedy in my wife’s family and know the toll it takes. But if we can make it work on this basis, let’s give it a shot.
Griz, if I have to coordinate this through you or someone ‘on staff’ at BTB, let me know. Hopefully, other members can pitch in to make it worthwhile, comfortable for all. Let me know

Not sure who's going to take the baton
but we need to collectively make sure we get this done.

Yeah, I'm here
Those who think they have miles or hotel connections for Paul, get on it and see what you can do. We’ll wait a few days to see what everybody comes up with. If we can get Paul there, that’s freakin’ awesome. If we can’t, I’ll redistribute the tickets somehow, probably to someone local to Texas who can get there easily.
Just let me know what I need to do.
I understand
I’m the same way about accepting help. I don’t want to speak for everyone, so I’ll just say please, please, please accept help from those wanting to do it, it’s genuine and heartfelt. Don’t feel like you owe anyone here anything Paul, least of all any apologies. God bless.

I will accept any help I can get..........
I just feel honored, fortuanate, and ashamed all at the same time. But I will take whatever you guys can offer. God bless every single one you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.
You can be all of those
except ashamed.

Absolutely nothing to be ashamed about. As Dunkman said, you have shown more strength in simply trying to get through each day than many do most days. I am definitely in on helping you out and would love to get you and your wife there because as someone else said (I am stealing too many words), you guys deserve a break.

Lets figure out exactly what we need to do to make this happen. Theres no way you should have to miss out on this experience Paul, its the least we could do.
This group
My brother Tarheel Paul told me yall were a bunch of good guys, but you guys go beyond that. I know how much Paul and Tammy need this. I know first hand what they have been through. So for you guys to try to do this puts all of you as saints in my eyes. I will help as well to make this happen just let me know how.
Love ya lil bro
I looked at Frequent Flyer Flights(say that 3x fast)
From CLT to OAK, departing WED and returning SUN, on United just to check availability. They’re a little ugly(2 connections each way), but they are available. I’ll need some specifics that we can take offline(not really sure how)in order to book.
If someone else wants to do the flights, I can do the hotel points in downtown OAK. Getting into SF and to the stadium is really easy(and inexpensive)on BART.
The real question is who can facilitate this, either by putting us directly in contact with each other or taking the lead as the timeline is getting tight. Let me know
'Kade Out!'
tdships
My thinking was that the hardest thing is to pull together is the flight. I know with delta they have some stringent rule about donating miles, etc. If you can book Paul and Tammy on your miles, I think the rest of us could ask Grizz to use the PayPal to contribute for the hotel.
What say you?
Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig loves it.
See what you can do
tdships – we’re well on our way to getting this done. If you can check on you FF Miles and see if you can get 2 tickets from Charlotte to DFW, you can email me offline with results.

if everyone donates $20 here
they’ll easily have enough money for the trip.
Everyone donate.

Thanks Raul
I checked with Delta…you’re right, it’s like trying to talk to the IRS…I finally gave up after 2 hours.
I can still check with my step-father about getting buddy passes (around $150 round trip) but that would mean flying stand-by.
Let me know, Grizz has my email. Boy does he have my email!

What is the status of finalizing this? I have plenty of Marriott and Hilton points for a free room. I could get it done today.

We'll also need some walking around cash, anyone know how we can make that happen?
I donated to the PayPal link, Raul, you’ll keep us posted on the status?

If you could do that, the donations could help with other expenses
Raul could probably hook you up with the details so far.

I'm looking for hotels now, any idea how many nights?
Coming in on 8/21 and leaving 8/22? Also, I’m looking at Marriott first, there’s a million in the DFW area, can someone help me narrow my search to something reasonably close?

Thanks, SHTG.
Guys like you, tdships, and everyone else who donated what they could make me proud to be a Cowboys fan and a member of this board.

Arlington, Irving, or anything in the Mid-Cities
The stadium isn’t too far from DFW airport (20ish mins) and anything in between would be good. I’m sure hotels in Arlington, close to the stadium, will have some type of shuttle service or courtesy car to the stadium.

Flights are booked/ticketed
Raul has details and should be forwarding to Paul. I can’t think of a more worthwhile use, please enjoy yourselves.

That's awesome
If you or maybe Raul could share the itinerary with SHTG above, we could probably close the loop on the hotel as well.

Just donated
Hope everyone can help out and give a little bit so that Paul and Tammy can have a great trip. Like stated above, even if you can only give $10, everything adds up. Lets keep it rolling guys!!!
tdships- thanks for helping make this possible. Just goes to show how great of a group we have here at BTB.
Thanks to tdships, StillHateTheGiants, Raul,
and everyone else who’re helping make this happen. You done yourself proud.

I've donated as well,
I felt like this is something to contribute too. I don’t know the details of what has happen but I do wish this helps. Maybe I’ll see u at the game Tarheel Paul. I’ll be tryin to attend as well because my b-day is that monday. This’ll be my first time seein my favorite team in their own stadium. Hopefully we can enjoy a glorius game and have more fortune to follow…
God 1st, Family Always & Dallas Cowboys 4 Life!!!!!
I hope to see you there
As soon as Raul emails me the tickets I will let everyone know where i will be sitting so that you can come by and i can shake your hand. I can’t even believe this is happening really. I mean, what you guys are doing for a complete stranger that you know only through this blog blows my mind. Raul called me today and to be honest with you, it was hard to talk to him without getting emotional about it. I just cant express what this means to me. Its more than just me going to a Cowboys game. Its the fact that this many people actually care enough to do this for me and my wife.. Thats what tugs at my heart the most. And i do mean ALL you people. Raul, dunkman, DC Fan, SHTG, Baked Potato, tdships, dahliluke, fighther15, Grizz, Raf, CodeNamedg, and all the others I didnt name, all of you. You made this happen. And you really didnt have to. You did it out of the kindness of your own heart. Just to bring some sunshine into my life. This is something I will never ever forget. You are all my brothers. And we truly are a family. You know, Cowboys fans get a bad rap from the rest of the NFC East crowd who think they are better fans than us, that they are more passionate than us, well let me send this message to the rest of the NFC East blogs. We are family. We take care of our own. And that is something you can’t touch.

I am so glad we could do this small thing to help out, Paul
I know we all wish we could do more,
But I am also proud to be a part of a group like these guys. It’s pretty special.
Enjoy the game, and let us know all about the new stadium!

I expect a full rundown! Stadium, team, everything.
In all seriousness, this is so rewarding to us that I couldn’t think of a single thing that I would have rather done with my (unfortunately) meager contribution. Thanks to all those who really made it possible on behalf of a greatful community.

I agree. I would much rather help you and your wife out than go out to eat or some other way that I would just be throwing my money away, at least I feel like I’m getting something for my money this way. And make sure you take pictures to share on the blog. I’m curious how the stadium looks on the inside.
