No Week 1 Vets signed

I'm a little surprised we didn't go out and sign a veteran CB or O-lineman after week 1.  The Giants just cut Tutan Reyes whom Big Blue View thought was their top backup.  That would make him a certain upgrade over any of our bottom 5 linemen.  Evan Oglesby is also still available.  Most considered him a lock to come back to Dallas.  Anybody else the Cowboys should be looking at now that contracts are no longer guaranteed?

This is a great point

I am less worried at oline right now, but CB, NT and LB worry me for depth.

Nose tackle

Siavii looked pretty good, I just got done watching the game again and he held his own pretty well. I’m going to reserve myself to wait and see.

Norm

Did you do any of that juicy analysis we were spoiled with in the preseason?

I like the idea

of bringing Oglesby back into the fold, but at who’s expense? And what, if any, affect would that have on the team as a whole??

I still wouldn't be surprised to see Proctor get the ax

in favor of someone. I’m still shocked we’re keeping 10 OL given that some of our backups (and starters) can play multiple positions.

could it be

We are keeping these guys in reserve to trade if another team loses a guy?

Just can’t see another team trading for any of them. The only one who seems capable (besides Duke) of even being a swing tackle or 3rd guard is Free, and we couldn’t afford to part with him right now.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

… but don’t the rules state that if a vet is signed before Week 2, it costs the team more money — as opposed to signing one after Week 2.

I thought I heard that somewhere before.

After the first week

you don’t have to guarantee a vested veteran a full season of the veteran’s minimum. In other words, you can cut the guy after the second week and not take a salary cap hit for his full salary.

I'm shocked

We haven’t signed Oglesby.

I thought we might take a flyer on Brooks. Probably cost too much for what you get.

I know right??

Imagine that, Dallas passing on a a CB that can actually make an interception when it hits him in the hands.

Is Leon Williams any good?

He got released by CLE (he was inactive for the MIN game)

He has ties to Grantham from his CLE days.

So it begins...

I was kind of hoping we'd get DeAngelo Smith back for the PS,

but the Bears claimed him off waivers from the Dawg Pound.

And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply ...
