Week1 @ Tampa Bay - Full Video
CowboysConnection.org has the full video of the week 1 game at Tampa Bay available via OneSwarm (3.52GB file).
After watching it live on a tiny, jerky Internet feed, It is so nice to be able to go back and enjoy the game in high quality video.
If you don't already have an account there or don't have OneSwarm set up, first sign up for an account. Then click on Forum -> Video Connection -> Tutorials on Media Applications -> Getting Started with One Swarm..... and follow the instructions there.
And remember, OneSwarm is a peer-to-peer network file sharing client that depends on those who download to stay online and seed the file to others. So don't be a leech! Keep your connection active after you download the file and help everyone get faster download speeds.
And while you're at it check out the forums and introduce yourself to the other Cowboys fans there!
Update: I had a couple requests for help, so I'm posting it here for those who are having trouble figuring this out (don't feel bad, it took me a while to figure it out as well). This is a somewhat modified version of the instructions posted in the tutorial thread at cowboysconnection.
Step 1: Download the OneSwarm application
Step 2: Install and launch the application, which will open a browser window... this is your interface to the application and the network (on a PC, use Firefox as your browser, Internet Explorer won't support many OneSwarm functions)
Step 3: Create your One Swarm user identity, making it the same id you use at Cowboys Connection.
Step 4: Click "Add friends" on the left in the One Swarm window. Then click "Add friends manually using public keys" and click "Next" then copy your Public Key from the "Step 2" box
Step 5: Paste your key in the "Public Key Exchange Master List" thread at Cowboys Connection.
Step 6: Copy the moderator Star Gazer's public key and add it as a friend, he's the first one on the Public Key Exchange (Master List).
Step 7: Once he receives your Public Key, he will add you to the circle of friends.
Step 8: Add all the public keys in the master "Public Key" thread. Star Gazer has now separated the list into batches of 25 keys each, and has a video tutorial up showing exactly how to do this. Copy one batch of 25 names and keys, click "Add friends" on the left in the One Swarm window, then click "Add friends manually using public keys" and click "Next" then click the "Multiple friends" tab and paste in that whole list, or a whole page from the master list thread, then click "Scan" and it will scan through and you just type in the username for each key. This is a lot faster than cutting and pasting each username and key separately.
Step 9: Click on Videos on the left in the browser window, and you should see "2009 Regular Season," click there and then click on the thumbnail of the video you want to download. From the toolbar, which is above the thumbnail images, select the "Download" button (you can also browse to select the folder you want it to download into, for example if you have an external hard drive, because over the course of the season the files will take up a lot of space). If all of the above are done, you should be able to download the video. Once it is downloaded stay online to help seed the file to others.
It's not the easiest thing to get working, with multiple steps as you can see, but once you have it set up it is a good way to distribute large files as the burden of providing the bandwidth is distributed over the network of users, with each user seeding the next, rather than relying on one central server with limited bandwidth that could get overloaded with everyone downloading.
Anyway, hope that helps. If you have questions about any of those steps let me know, or post it in the support thread.

Macs
Doesn’t work on a Mac does it? unfortunate, I’m in Hong Kong and I actually really need this.
by Dansonofdirm on Sep 17, 2009 10:34 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
yeah, it works on Mac fine
that’s what I use, just download the Mac application… however, I forgot to mention that there’s a java bag with OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. They should be issuing a patch for it soon, but if you’ve installed the 10.6 upgrade already, let me know and I’ll tell you how to work around it for now.

Figured it out Thanks!
I actually found you asking the question you just talked about, the internet is a scary place. http://forum.oneswarm.org/topic/1170. I’ll update you on whether I can get this working, but this doesn’t help me get games live does it?
by Dansonofdirm on Sep 17, 2009 10:54 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
not live
not live, no… just for game archives.
live streaming of games is also available/facilitated by cowboysconnection, but it’s a whole ‘nother story, aside from regular live streams like justin.tv which cc helps find, there’s the Sopcast client (only for Windows, so you have to run it on Parallels or Bootcamp on Mac) which is an alternative in case the other streams go down.
yeah i upgraded to 10.6 and then only a few days later realized it wasn’t working, so i found the note on the oneswarm site explaining that it didn’t work. and even their workaround didn’t work, so i had to figure out a workaround to the workaround! lol. i was determined to get a good copy of the game!

Well
Looks like you stuck with it. You seem pretty good with macs, I’m just getting used to mine. Got Vuze, hacked my iPhone, now I’m getting into it.
Later in that thread they say that just acquiring the Dev upgrade will fix it, so I don’t have to mess with terminal, is that true?

Step 9
Will this only work after Star Gazer et al. have confirmed me?
by Dansonofdirm on Sep 17, 2009 11:01 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
i think so
not 100% sure but I think he has to add you in the circle of friends (“you are now on the inside of what I like to call…‘the Cowboys family circle of trust’ I keep nothing from you, you keep nothing from me…and round and round we go.” lol).

Ah Bit Torrent
This actually a great idea, now I can download to my hearts content without fear of the gestappo busting in my door.

Also
I didn’t bother typing in anyone’s name after Star Gazer, so It left me with a bunch of numbers for friends. You think this’ll still work?
by Dansonofdirm on Sep 17, 2009 11:09 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
yeah, the name is just for your reference
doesn’t really matter I don’t think

post your key in the master list
not sure what else to tell you without knowing what part you’ve done or not, but make sure you do step 5, post your public key in the master list. i don’t see you posted there and nothing else can happen until you do that. then star gazer can add you and others will as well.
by scottmaui on Sep 19, 2009 4:30 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Star Gazer has added a tutorial video
in the public key master list thread explaining Step 8 above, and also compiled the public keys into easy to copy batches of 25 keys each, so check out the video and add all the batches to get connected to everyone.

jeesh
that’s neat and all, but it’s a whole hell of a lot easier to just download the torrent from http://forums.tenyardtorrents.com
by sublimezg on Sep 19, 2009 8:40 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
by the way
you need an account to even see the games, so sign up
by sublimezg on Sep 19, 2009 8:40 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
right on!
also note that you have to register twice, once to access the forums, and once to access the torrent files.
The game listed in the main forum isn’t as high resolution as the one at cowboysconnection, but it looks like there’s even a couple other higher res versions when you browse all the torrents.
anyway, good to have multiple sources just in case, and for those for whom OneSwarm is a technical challenge, this is a good alternative.
