Yeah we lost

Yet how disturbing it was to be on the game day thread and reading negative after negative post. If you have absolutely no faith in this team then why do you follow them? Yes Romo had a bad game. That makes him real unique doesn't it? I realize game day threads are just emotions spewing out over the internet but good lord you would have thought the Cowboys were down by 35 with 7 seconds left, not down by 6 with 7 minutes. I come to this site to read analysis by some very good analysts and get unique perspectives from fellow posters. But when I finally got in to the game thread tonight I got niether. I got a tidal wave of "we suck" mentality. People, no one is going 16-0 in this league anytime soon, that includes the Giants, the Patriots, the Eagles. Sure I wanted a different result tonight, and I was dismayed when the second half started to go sour but you have to have some kind of faith that the team will get their act together and pull it out. I'm not so sure some people don't just abuse the "we suck" mentality because eventually they're going to be right. I wasn't happy with the effort tonight, the defense needs a lot of work apparently and Romo needs to get a grip on his game but you (or I, I guess) don't count your team out until it's apparent the outcome is in favor of the other team. We lost this game when Tynes hit the game winning FG with NO TIME on the clock. Not midway through the 4th quarter.

I lost faith in Wade Phillips last season

When you lose 44-6 in what is pretty much a playoff game, you aren’t the right guy for this team. The Cowboys gave in that game. And since you can’t change the whole team, you change the coach.

True, True but this is the Not For Long league...

we need to win games that we are suppose to win…our window of opportunity is not going to be there forever, pretty soon it’s going to be 5-11, 5-11, 5-11 all over again…

There were a lot of positives to take from this game

but I’m not sure I’ll be able to reall think about it this way for a couple weeks. In our last 6 games, I’ve watched Romo flat out blow 2 of them – Ptt and NYG. The rest of the team was fantastic in both, and he wasn’t even pressured that much.

He HAS to turn this around or else we are gonna struggle to win division games this year.

veteran QB...

we should of brought in a veteran QB to challenge Romo not back him up…

Seriously?

I haven’t even spent the time to read what Benthere is talking about and I can already see it! Seriously! I had to put up with this crap when I watched the game with some friends… Deal with the loss and get over it. If you don’t believe in Romo then get out. He’s our starting QB and he may have some bad nights but I’d much rather have him then most other QBs. Tonights loss was more of a freak accident. They stacked the passing game and forced us to run it.. which we did.. One of Romo’s interceptions came from when a guy was all the way in the back like he was going for a punt… He couldn’t even see.. another one came off of the foot of Jason Witten. Not to mention a jumbled pass caught for a touchdown… AND a tipped ball for a first down.

I think this game was more about how the Giants sold their souls to the Devil more than the Cowboys sucking… However.. I was upset about our pressure on Eli and our Cornerbacks..

I’ll take a lost with 8 man at the line than give up the ball for free like tonite

One game..

And you’re already jumping on the anti-Romo bandwagon.. Seriously.. I can’t believe you even said that you’d take Shaun Hill over Romo.

one game...

Love Romo but dang he can’t give the other teams free balls like he did tonite…face the fact our defense is OVER-RATED…the defense can not bail him out …we cant win games if Romo cannot manage games…

So yi'm inferring

that you’d rather have him be the “busdriver” qb that Parcells always wanted rather than what he is? Look, Romo is what he is. He’s a gunslinger who’s going to turn the ball over once in a while. But thats what makes him special. Honestly, how many times have we seen him make a play out of nothing? So he had a big game? Big deal. Like I said in another thread, people have bad games all the time. We need to let him be what he is if we’re ever going to do anything big with him at QB.

After Fuentes blows a save and an Angels loss to the Indians:
"Angels still in first place" - UCI Halo
"Hey you know who would have gotten those 3 outs in the 9th?
Darren O’Day." - FirebatM3

And your team

Wouldn’t win many games. Team puts 8 in the box and stops the run the game is lost with Shaun Hill.

I will admit

We lost by 2 points to a GREAT team. That’s a great result overall. That said, the problem is that if our defense could actually stop anyone or if Romo doesn’t throw a boatload of INTs, we’re winning this game EASILY. And these are the same problems that have plagued us for multiple seasons now. Until they are fixed, we won’t go anywhere, and so far, so bad. If we fix these things, we are a Super Bowl favorite in my opinion. But in two years and a few games into the 3rd year, this team under Wade has not ever been able to play consistently good defense and Romo has at times shutdown on the field. Until the recurring problems show signs of being fixed, it makes sense that people will expect us to be just the same way we’ve been for that last few years: A good team who could be great if not for a couple of miserable things. 9-7 looks like where we’re headed AT BEST based on the defensive performances in the first two games this year. 9-7 will not make the Playoffs this season, I’m almost sure of it.

+1

the most concerning thing about this game is that its “same old same old”….we look good but not great.

If Romo just stops with the doofus throws, considering how well we’ve done avoiding penalties, that will be enough improvement in the stupidity department for me

I can no longer have ANY faith in Romo

every time he drops back to pass, I’m thinking, “oh no, Romo, don’t do something stupid again.”

All we need is a QB to hand the ball to Barber, Jones, and Choice; then throw it once in a while to Witten and company.

I am so very tired of the GUNSLINGING, stumbling, bumbling, fumbling, throw-the-ball-in-the-air and hope someone catches it habits of Romo. In my book, he is a MISTAKE waiting to happen.

If not the next game, then the next one – but at SOME POINT you can bet that Romo is going to lose a game ALL BY HIMSELF. If not next week, then in December, if not December, than the playoffs (if we ever get there.)

were you thinking that the tampa game?

Where he made 1 poor decision when throwing the ball?
Throw it in the air and hope someone catches it is a mild exaggerati when talking about a qb who has as good a completion percentage as romo.

just so you know

there are very few perfect qbs in this league. Eli lost more than a few games “by himself” before their SB run. McNabb imo lost the redskins game last year and earned the tie with cincinatti by constantly missing open wrs. Peyton Manning has come up with his fair share of complete playoff clunkers. Warner loses games all the time for his teams lol.

Romo is no Brady (from 2003-2008). Hes not perfect. VERY few are. \

I'm not even suggesting that we need a perfect QB

Romo just has to stop having those mental breakdowns ever so often that really set our team back.

He knows he has a problem, but thus far has not been able to correct it, I think he wants to, but it is like changing your personality, it most likely is not going to happen.

He doesn't need to be...

but he does need to get better…and he isn’t.

"Well, we didn't block real good but we made up for it by not tackling."
