Teams' smack talk, hot game in Dec. to come
I don't think anybody could disagree that this matchup added a little heat to the New York - Dallas rivalry! Before the game there was all the "hate" talk. Then apparently there were two skirmishes or at least flare-ups on the field. One is well-known, the Giants are talking a bit about what they say is dirty play by Flozell. The other is an apparent issue with Jacobs and Colombo. I know how you guys feel about Jacobs so I'm not even going there. I wanted an inside perspective on Flozell Adams.
Ask a critic and Flozell Adams is a washed-up bum on the decline of his career who is risking other players' health and careers by using dirty tactics. I'm curious what Dallas fans feel about several things:
1. Is Flozell on the decline, or is he maintaining his pro bowl level of play?
2. If he is on the decline, is he tripping and slapping and holding to compensate, or is it just coincidence, or are his penalties just overblown?
3. Giants homers like myself have various sentiments:
(a) The Giants should not have lost a timeout because a player was injured on a flagged penalty
(b) flagged penalties that cause injury should result in either fines or other penalties.
are we just being homers because it's our guy?

You should add a 5th option
Flo’s known for lack of concentration lapses, the guy can still move with the best of them, even at his age, you saw him doing it with Umenyiora, Kiwanuka and Tuck (for the most part).
I would vote for the 5th.

And really, doing dirty stuff isn't something new...
Runyan (when he had knees) was known for doing anything in his power to do his job.
Tackles throw themselves head first to the pass rushers knees.
And Centers and Guards will go as far as horse collar type of tackles in order to hold on a rushing DT (Ratliff just saw O’Hara and Snee recurring to this kind of dirty tactic).

Being a sore loser?
We were winning at the time the penalty was called.

It was a strong game for both O-lines
I think both sides kinda wanted to see Canty in the mix — us to see him succeed, you guys to see him fail!

Nobody says anything about an old pitcher
using spitballs, vaseline, tacks,, ect… to hang on a little longer while his arm weakens.
A DB gets beat reaches out and grabs a jersey or just tackles the guy to keep from getting the deep ball.
Tuck may be the most dominating Dlineman in the East.. Getting beat by him is not like getting beat by a practice squad signee. He is a beast and he set up Flo and was ready to cut inside and possibly cream Romo. Lose your QB and lose your season. Screw that, trip his ass every time and you can bet your 1sr born that every lineman in the league who wants to keep his job will do the same..
I would be angry if your guys did it but I would understand.

Having a Giants Fan
Named Squid92 makes it hard to tell the difference between you two. They look almost identical. But then I read what you wrote, and what he wrote, and all of a sudden I realize you are two completely different people.

I wasn't happy with the trip
It was dirty and there are plays that players find acceptable and that’s not really one of them. I think Flo has lost quickness and this is his new crutch.

Flo is clearly not the player he once was
and for that matter was always enigmatic. But he’s actually under-rated in many respects. Agree w DM above, no place for a play outside the rules, that hurts an opponent.

It was a cheap play
but it negated a huge play by Crayton after Romo had released the ball so it may have lost you the game if Flo lets Tuck get by. Then again, Romo probably would have thrown a 4th int.

Flo isn't the player he was in his prime
But none of your guys got to Romo in the game, so I’d say he’s still playing better than a great deal of LTs in the NFL. He got beat and tripped a couple of guys…hats off to him. Romo wasn’t sacked once by “the best, deepest D line in football1”, so I’d say the tripping worked out in our favor…well, other than that huge play that could have changed the game that had to get called back because of said trip, but when I look back at the game it looked like that was the only way Romo could even get the pass off…so good job Flo!

If Tuck had....
A roughing the passer penalty called on him, would you call him a dirty player?
Just because Flo did that, doesn’t mean he is dirty either. I think Tuck just doesn’t like to deal with Flo because he is a hard lineman to deal with. Tuck just wants to get to the quarterback and hurt him. If anything gets in his way, he’s gonna complain about it.

you're probably right that competitiveness has something to do with it
to answer your question, some roughing the QB penalties are BS (the guy was in the air and got there a second late) while others are legit (laying a blindside or helmet-to-helmet that you had to take 2 steps to hit after the ball is gone). If Tuck layed the latter on Romo, I would prob. have ambiguous feeling. On the one hand, I’d be like, “yeah! Crush Romo!” but on the other hand I’d be disappointed that my team took a cheap shot. And if it KO’d Romo for the game I’d take less satisfaction from the win. By the way I think Tuck appealed a roughing the qb fine last year with the NFL and won his case. We all like to view our team as classy, and to various degrees we all wear our own blinders.

Flo
Everyone here knows how I feel about flo. He has cost us 75+ yards already this season, and if he doesn’t trip Tuck, we are out by midfield, rather than stuck deep, where Romo throws an int off witten’s shoe.
Yeah, the guys is probably still solid….but he’s a liability, and I agree that he should be fined.
And I say again, he did not save Romo from getting hurt.

George: Embezzlement.
