[UPDATE: DMN reports that Felix Jones' injury is a sprained PCL. END UPDATE]
Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones will miss Sunday's game at Denver with a sprained left knee, according to two sources.
Jones injured his knee at the end of a 40-yard run in the third quarter of Monday night's victory over Carolina. He had an MRI on Tuesday, which revealed the sprain. Doctors didn't discuss the possibility of surgery.

I'm assuming its a MCL sprain
because if it was his ACL, he’d be done for the year.

UPDATE
It’s a PCL, says Todd Archer.
Felix Jones sprained the posterior cruciate ligament Monday but the Cowboys aren’t sure how much time he will miss.
“It could get well quickly,” coach Wade Phillips said.
Typically PCL injuries take two weeks to get better which would keep Jones out through the bye week.

well, hope MB3 is ready to go
Really glad Felix will be ready for our first tough stretch of the season, Atlanta, Seattle, Philly and GB.

Having our bye in Week 6 is looking like a perfect time to have it.

Wade said MBIII was almost ready Monday night
so that bodes well for him to help carry the rock.

Too Fragile...
This answers our question of whether he’s able to stand being a full-timer. Too bad, he’s a game-breaker.

it's weird
that Felix and MBIII both came up lame after very ordinary runs.

Could it have something to do with stretching?
Or lack thereof. MB3’s injury could also could be contributed to pre-game warmups.

not with Felix's injury
stretching will never prevent a ligament injury.

It didn’t even look like he went down particularly hard or anything.

With Felix
It’s always going to be an issue because often he’s going to be tackled from behind or the side while he’s going at full speed. It always looks worse, and I don’t think the player has an opportunity to set himself as opposed to a head-to-head collision.
It’s the curse of his speed — too many defenders will make desperate grabs at him as he goes past them, and he will continue to fall at funny angles.
Everything's looking up, Milhouse!

+1
Going that fast on every run makes him hit the ground harder as defenders carry their momentum on top of him.

He's
not that fast though, unless he’s been playing hurt this season. He accelerates like no one’s business but get real, he’s no Chris Johnson out there. This is a bad excuse.

It's not an excuse, nor is it bad.
He’s still fast even though he didn’t record a 4.28 at the combine. It’s physics. Watch when he gets tackled. He always hits the ground hard.

PCL is not needed
I think he would play if this was the postseason. He will be held out for the next couple of games so he can be ready for the long haul.
Anybody still think we have too many running backs?

Here's what DC.com says about Felix and MBIII
Head coach Wade Phillips called Jones “day-to-day” and said he has not ruled him out for Sunday’s game against Denver. Jones returned for two plays Monday after injuring his knee in the third quarter against Carolina, then sat out the rest of the Cowboys’ 21-7 win.
Phillips also said inactive RB Marion Barber was excused from the sidelines Monday night to receive treatment on his strained quad. He said Barber’s injury, suffered nine days ago, was originally given a 10-14 day timetable.

Even if it's not technically needed
could swelling limit the motion of the knee or result in significant discomfort? Felix didn’t look very comfortable for the couple of plays he was in there after the injury.

Conditioning
Why do our players seem to come up gimpy after very ordinary runs & tackles. Newman came up holding his abs after the touchdown. Is it our strength and conditioning?
by Prime-Time on Sep 29, 2009 4:23 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
It depends on the players...
Newman and Felix are the most fragile players on this team IMO…our conditioning program is fine.

The media drives me nuts
One report says day-to-day, one says he’ll be inactive next Sunday, another says he’s done until after they bye. Unless he has the healing ability of a 98 year old man, I doubt it’s going to be after the break.

Any Idea
which report sounds correct? day to day, 1 week, 2 weeks, we can rebuild him and make him faster then before.

with Den and KC comming up and barber coming back...do we really need him before the bye
by Becho on Sep 30, 2009 9:27 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yes I think so
I believe our success running the ball comes down to a few factors.
1. O line playing great.
2. Garrett’s running formations and plays have a higher percentage of being non traditional.
3. Felix has the homerun ability that defenses have to be ready for.
4. We have defenses off balance because we have a reputation as being a pass first team.
So without Felix as the running deep threat I think defenses will start putting more men in the box. The question then becomes, can Garrett and Romo then effectively transition to a pass game at that point.

From what I could see and read
It doesn’t sound like he’ll need surgery right now. Rest, and rehab should get him back after the bye week
