Ok, well we will know what the roster is soon enough but from what I have seen in camp these are the 53 men I believe have earned a spot on the roster. First I'll start with the position numbers.
3 Quarterbacks
3 Running backs
3 Tight Ends
6 Wide Recievers
9 Offensive Linemen
1 Fullback
6 Defensive Linemen
9 Linebackers
5 Cornerbacks
4 Safeties
2 Kickers
1 Punter
1 Long Snapper
I believe that this is a manageable list and numbers at each position as they have some hybrids that can play both positions such as Alan Ball at Corner and Safety and D-Lo Smith doing the same. Now here are the players that I see at each position on the roster, some very obvious, including the Starters:
Quarterback - Tony Romo, Jon Kitna, Stephen McGee
Running Back - Marion Barber, Felix Jones, Tashard Choice
Fullback - Deon Anderson
Tight End - Jason Witten, Martellus Bennett, John Phillips
Wide Receiver - Roy Williams, Patrick Crayton, Sam Hurd, Miles Austin, Kevin Ogletree, Jesse Holley
Offensive Linemen - F. Adams, K. Kosier, A. Gurode, L. Davis, M. Columbo, T. Bright, D. Preston, D. Free, M. Holland
Defensive Linemen - Jay Ratliff, Igor Olshansky, Marcus Spears, Junior Siavii, Stephen Bowen, Jason Hatcher
Linebackers - D. Ware, K. Brooking, B. James, A. Spencer, B. Carpenter, V. Butler, J. Williams, M. Stewart, S. Octavien
Cornerbacks - Terence Newman, Mike Jenkins, Orlando Scandrick, Alan Ball, Mike Mickens
Safeties - Ken Hamlin, Gerald Sensabaugh, Pat Watkins, Deangelo Smith
Punter - Mat McBriar
Kickers - Nick Folk, David Beuhler
Long Snapper - L.P. LaDouceur
Now this list could quite possibly change because of some of the injuries like if Robert Brewster recovers from his torn pectoral and doesn't go onto IR or possibly Michael Hawkins coming back from his wrist injury. There are a couple people that I really want to mention though.
Jesse Holley deserves to make the team, although rookie Manny Johnson has also made a case for being a good player but I chose Jesse Holley because he has MADE A PLAY EVERY TIME THE BALL HAS COME HIS WAY.
Travis Bright was mentioned by Wade Phillips when asked who really stood out at camp on the O-line, and he was mentioned over all of the other linemen so that speaks volumes.
Duke Preston as the backup center. Sorry Corey Proctor, I have just seen too many mistakes and it has become common with a bobbled snap under center or a blown assignment that you have been associated with it. Duke Preston can do everything better than you and has experience at each O-line position, and since he has been a starter many times already he is very qualified. Just let him learn the playbook now.
Kevin Ogletree, need I say more? Initials K.O. say a lot as well as he has been a Knockout whenever the ball has come his way in camp or in a game. Anyone notice that in the preseason he was the teams touchdown reception leader as he was the only one with more than 1 touchdown? Romo also obviously trusts him and his hands.
Now here are the guys on the Bubble/Practice squad which I think is usually around 8 or on IR or PUP as of now
RB Keon Lattimore, WR Manny Johnson, WR Isaiah Stanback, LB Tearrius George, S Michael Hamlin, QB Rudy Carpenter, DE Marcus Dixon, CB Courtney Brown, OT Robert Brewster (PUP/IR pending), Stephen Hodge (IR), Brandon Williams (IR)
Well that is my list. Let the Speculation begin! Even though it will last only for 18 more hours.
