Cowboys Playoff scenarios

I saw this chart on possible playoff seeding scenarios in the NFC on ESPN.com and thought it was interesting that out of 8 scenarios our chances of playing the Eagles in the first round of the playoffs is 2 out of 8.  Thats good news.

I'd rather play GB than Philly

Unless the game is at Lambeau Field. Yeeep!

But yeah, I don’t know if I can handle two consecutive weeks of the Eagles lol

2009 Dallas Cowboys: 10-6
2009 New York Jets: not 11-5 :(
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25

Any of those clowns can beat any of those clowns

isn’t that the beauty of the NFL?

+1

no clear cut team as of now …. I love it. Seems like all 6 teams have a shot.

I love (and hate) that we don't play series in the NFL

I think my Eagles would beat the Raiders 9 out of 10 times, but since we only play one game we happened to meet them in their 10% window.

That’s what upsets are about, that’s especially what makes the playoffs awesome!

Last year I said the Falcons would beat the Cards…well, then the Panthers were DEFINITELY going to beat the Cards. Then the Eagles HAD to beat the Cards, and they just kept rolling.

yep.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cards do it again, or if GB goes all the way. Just gotta get hot at the right time.

eww you really would want series?

No way that would ruin everything… EVERYTHING! haha

There's only one

problem. If we beat Philly and Minnesota beats the Giants it doesn’t matter what Ariz. or G.B do, we would get Philly again. The only upside of this if we beat Philly Sunday is that it would be a home game for Dallas. The Giants and Minnesoata are both head cases now so who knows? My gut is telling me Minnesota is probably going to win that game.

Me too.

So lately I’ve rooted for the Redskins, Giants, Packers and Bears. Normally, I’m giddy when these teams lose.

Why are you guys so scared of playing Philly in the post-season?

Man up. Grow some balls. Are you really Cowboys fans or just bandwagoners?

by dfan77 on Jan 2, 2010 5:42 AM CST reply actions

This isn't a point

of fear or “manning up.” However, I am reminded of something my dad once told me which is a good run is better than a bad stand. If six guys are goint to kick your ass and you feel it is best to stay and fight, then by all means “do you.” In this case, however, the prudent thing to do is hope you don’t play the team that knows you best the most times. That is simple logic. As for the bandwagon thing, I’ve been rooting for the ‘Boys starting somewhere around when man discovered the attributes of the wheel. I don’t know about anyone else.

Im not worried about playing them 3 times

I just think theres a better chance of Dallas beating AZ and Gb over philly.

One good thing is no matter what happens on 1/03/10 Dallas wont be going to play in philly next weekend. It could happen down the road but not in the wildcard round.

interestingly enough

we’ve both had relatively equal success on the road or at home

MIN-NY game is early

So we’ll know those results by kickoff. Then we’ll be scoreboard watching during our game. I’m starting oi get antsy, wish we could play NOW.

Updated Statistical Odds of Seed/RD 1 Pairings

Let’s see how well this works:

Statistical Odds for DAL seed
1-0% 2-12.5% 3-25.0%, 4-12.5% 5- 0.0% 6-50.0%

Statistical Odds for RD 1 Pairings
PHL at DAL 25.0%
DAL at MIN 37.5%
DAL at AZ 12.5%
GB at DAL 12.5%
DAL Bye 12.5%

MIN over NY eliminates any chance at the #2 Seed/1st RD matchup w AZ. Both PHL @ DAL and DAL @ MIN become 50% possibilities. All other scenarios are eliminated.

NY over MIN eliminates any possibility of a RD 1 matchup w PHL. All other pairings, inc Bye are then equal.

I think I did this right, hell someone might have done it already. Some day I’ll figure out how to import Excel spreadsheets and not have to format this manually. I TOLD YOU I WAS GETTING ANTSY.
