O-Line lessons from Minny game
The consensus thought around here seems to be the boys will draft Oline (or perhaps safety) in the upcoming draft. It seems that jerry might have taken a lesson from the offensive line melt down and is poised to rectify the situation with a 1st round angry fat man. But you might argue that isn't the case...
No I am not saying Jerry was picking his nose trying to remember the address of that drive through plastic surgery clinic. He was paying attention and he took some lessons home. But it may be those lessons weren't about the offensive line. The guys opposite the offensive line might have left an impression.
We all know how Ratliff broke down over the stretch. In his first eight games he had 4 sacks, while his second eight games yielded 2 sacks, both against washington. He was an all pro, but we all knew he wasn't himself late in the year.
We play a 4 man front so much a 2nd star defensive tackle would practically be a starter and lord knows we need Ratliff to be fresh in the playoffs.
And I will also say another thing... While we don't have alot of young talent on offensive line, we do have quite a few guys that have started in the league at one time or another. I am not saying we shouldn't draft oline, I am mearly saying we don't absolutely have to draft an immediate starter.

I think
most would have no problem adding another big man to the defense. Not because Rat broke down, but because Savii didn’t do as well later in the season when Rat was getting a breather.
actually i think the biggest need
is a true FS, with a cover guy the defense could be able to do almost anything, kinda blitz happy jets with his lock Darelle Revis, and the backup NT is a good idea too, but to me the biggest needs are
S, OL and then DL
Ratliff getting surgery on both elbows
…just made NT an even bigger priority.

Did I mention it was on
BOTH ELBOWS????

BTW
You also said Folk would be just fine after his injury.
That turned out well, don’t you think?

Have you ever had surgery on your elbow?
It sucks, and all I do is push a pencil around a desk, not 350 o linemen around a football field

Our O line is old and not very deep
After Free, we have practically no depth at all. We need somebody to groom behind Flo. We need a legitimate back up center who could maybe one day push Gurode. We may need a new LG sooner than later. We’ve got a ton(HA!) of problems that need to be addressed as far as the O line is concerned.
We need a back up NT, I agree, but Spears and Olshansky are both supposedly able to play the position, and Saivii(I really hope I spelled that right) didn’t play poorly at all this year. I think we’re in decent shape for the time being. It’s not as pressing as O line, or even Safety, imho.
Epic Fail since 1985
Why does everyone think safety?
Maybe not in the first round, but why? Sensabaugh played very well last year and proved that safeties can cover. We also drafted a few players who are becoming safeties last year, so I am not so certain that it is a slam dunk that it is a need.
I think they've got to pick up at least one vet on the Oline in FA.
Can’t head into the draft this thin. Plus, every team knows that they are thin there, which would negate any smokescreens JJ wants to employ.
BTB League Consolation Ladder Champ...thought you knew.
There's some serious depth at NT and the DL in general this year.
We should be able to find someone without ignoring the OL.
