McNabb says "We stopped ourselves."

This is awesome!  McNabb says that they missed too many opportunities and that it was their mistakes that lost the game as opposed to the Cowboys defense.

Star-divide

This is exactly the kind of stuff I want to hear all week to keep the Cowboys hungry.  I hope the Eagles start piling on and refuse to give the 'boys credit so that they take the field hungrier then ever on saturday.  Why not twitter that Romo is gay and Jenkins wears a dress?

C'mon Eagles, talk some more stuff!!

There is also an interesting observation from Mosely that McNabb made a mistake by calling out his young players after the game.  Says Mosely

"I don't think that was a wise decision. This is not the time to call out Jackson. He's been the Eagles' best offensive player this season and you need him to break through against the Cowboys on Saturday night."

A good point and I hope everything blows up in the eagles faces come saturday.

GO COWBOYS!!!!

McNabb=Moron

He’s really admitting the missed opportunities was him sucking, does he really think thats going to change Saturday?

What a fool

In Romo we Trust

That's why I love it

A real leader would have said “the game was on me, I am the QB and I have to do a better job of finding my guys” not blame his young playmakers and give the cowboys D a backhanded compliment.

I’ll take this kind of stuff all week instead of everybody pumping up the boys.

yeah McNabb...

and also, you CAN have a tie in football. Just FYI.

I have noticed a new resurgence in Cowboy hating in 2007, which can only mean one thing- We're back.

well he is just following the excuses that i

have read his fans say on BGN. We lost the game cause there is no way Dallas beat us, we played vanilla cause there was nothing important to play for thats why they won so easily, etc………all I hear is excuses and well thats all good. Dallas needs to play the way they did last time and we can hear more :)

"When people talk about Super Bowl dynasties they mention the 1970's Steelers, 1980's 49ers, 1990's Cowboys and the current New England Patriots, but nobody has dominated the Super Bowl like Anheuser-Busch. In recent years, Budweiser has been the MVP of Super Bowl advertising -- making another company the favorite to win the Ad Meter poll was never an option."

Mosely had a chat with Reid and McNabb today

and an eagle fan who couldn’t believe that the cowboys won asked Reid if the eagles played a vanilla game. Here was the reply -

Reid bristled at the very notion someone would ask this question and said there was something he’d like to say to the reporter, but he refrained: “We didn’t hold anything back,” Reid huffed.

Love it!

This is probably the same BS reasoning he's used after every big loss

All those NFC Championship games, and one Super Bowl, lost due to their own ineptitude.

Drago says, "We must break you!"

we were saying similar things after the giants loss

but it seems like our team matured. McNabb’s been using that line for a while.

by foyesboys on Jan 5, 2010 10:42 PM CST up reply actions

difference

That really was our team playing stupid. And, every team has one or two of those games every year, where if they didn’t do something stupid, if one play went the other way, the game would have gone the other way also.

Like the 7 points we spotted NYG by the ball bouncing off of Witten’s foot.

The difference is, we shut them out and beat them by 24 points.

When you say “we beat ourselves” in a close game, it means “I threw that one bad pass that cost us” or “if I wouldn’t have fumbled that punt return we would have won.”

When you say “we beat ourselves” in a 24 – 0 drubbing, it means “yeah turns out we suck more than we thought.”

JERRY: I worked a club in Dallas one time and they couldn't afford to pay me so they gave me these. Oh, I can't wear these! They look ridiculous!

KRAMER: Ah, you look like a cowboy! Huh?

JERRY: But I don't wanna be a cowboy!

no after the giants playoff loss

when wade said “the better team lost”

BUt you make a good point – theres a big difference between a close loss and a blowout.

by foyesboys on Jan 6, 2010 2:41 PM CST up reply actions

Something unrelated I thought about....

even a “vanilla” offense should be able to put something on the board.

I still believe in Romo.

by Nelson... on Jan 5, 2010 8:43 PM CST reply actions

McNabb always says this after a loss.

Eleven years in the league and nobody has even beaten him. He’s always beaten himself.

There’s a lewd joke in there but I’ll let him speak for himself.

by Rafael Vela on Jan 5, 2010 9:53 PM CST reply actions

Lol! Nice!

Is that why he always throwin up in the huddle? … They take turns beating themselves? McNabb must take a break QBing to be the receiver in that game.

by spadesking131313 on Jan 5, 2010 9:58 PM CST up reply actions

Absolutely right!

McNabb has never lost to a better team. It is always missed opportunities.

In lieu of your article regarding knowing ones strengths and weaknesses, McNabb is oblivious. I think that is the greatest reason that he is never able to win the Super Bowl.

In competition, it is important to evaluate the strengths of the opposition, and the intent (or strategy) the opponent is utilizing. McNabb’s comments make me think that he is not a student of the game, but is more of a one-trick pony.

McNabb looks for the opportunity to run around and chuck it deep. If the opposition is taking that away, he is incapable of adapting to another strategy.

Leave McNabb in his comfort zone, and he is cocky: picking up phones on the opposition sidelines, dancing during the game, and joking with his anyone giving him much wanted attention.

Take McNabb out of his lone ability to buy time and throw it deep, and his ego renders him incapable of comprehending his shortcomings and how to adapt around them, let alone improve them from season to season.

That is why Romo is so much better as a quarterback. Tony improves facets of his game (e.g., interceptions) to become a better competitor.

McNabb compares to the tennis player that has a booming serve, but struggles when anyone manages a return. When he loses a point, all he knows how to do is hit the ball harder. Romo has a much better all around game.

Romo is Federer in cleats.

McNabb is Serena…with smaller breasts.

I don't think Dallas needs any

extra motivation. This team seems focused. … If anything, if I am a coach, I play highlights of the Cowboys vs Giants 2007 Divisional Playoff game and the 44-6 Eagles game last year … for a gut check!

by spadesking131313 on Jan 5, 2010 10:01 PM CST reply actions

or the playoff loss to the giants

so they remember that these chances are few and far between.

by Billito on Jan 6, 2010 8:54 AM CST up reply actions

While I think Donovan is a tool

watching these highlights, the eagles left a bunch of yards and points on the field. I don’t know about the idea that they stopped themselves -please, give our defense a little credit, but they certainly played poorly.

Thanks for any needed motivatin, McNabb and Jackson. They’d be better off going the RW sarcasm route and saying “We suck. We have no chance.”

by foyesboys on Jan 5, 2010 10:44 PM CST reply actions

I will agree with him on one point

The bad throw to a wide open DeSean Jackson. I could put David Akers’ missed field goal here, too, but he wouldn’t have given the Eagles a chance if he made it anyway so…

Other than that, all Cowboys!

2009 Dallas Cowboys: 11-5!!!
2009 New York Jets: not 11-5 :(, but PLAYOFFS!!!
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: 57-25, despite the recent molestation at the hands of the Lakers

I Just Hope

he doesn’t puke all over our star at midfield. That’s just plain rude!

This is nothing new....

Didn’t you Cowboy fans say the teams “stopped themselves” against the Giants?

I know the Eagles didn’t execute…but that’s what happens when a team loses.

This is nothing to be serious about…

Its very hypocritical to knock McNabb for this..cuz everyone does it…

I think it was a little hard to believe because they put up not points. A shutout is a hard sell to say that the

opposing defense was not the main factor. The gints did not shutout dallas but they did out play dallas both times this year, I think dallas does not match up well with the gints and from what I have seen does match up well with the iggles.

Ignore the Mainstream Media, EMBRACE THE HATE!!!!

by cowboy78 on Jan 6, 2010 12:10 PM CST up reply actions

If you lose by 10 points or less you might be able to say you beat yourself......but a 24-0 smoking

is proof that everyone on the team got to take a whack with the old pinata stick!!

by UTexan on Jan 6, 2010 12:53 PM CST up reply actions

in the first game, heck yes we did

we also lost a close game where we made bunches of mistakes and you did not. The Eagles were blown out in a game where both offenses left tons of points on the field.

by foyesboys on Jan 6, 2010 2:45 PM CST up reply actions

to all of you...

fair enough.

I’ll just say…given the fact that they have basically a do over..I think Mcnabb has to say something like this.

He tells it like it is…which would be “they just flat out beat the hell out of us”…how are they gonna play again on Saturday.

I guess its just the only sort of thing to remain confident for the upcoming game..is all.
