Well it's almost gametime and I can't help but wonder what is being said right now in the locker room. So I thought I would write out what I would be saying if I were given the chance.
Today is the beginning of a new era in Cowboys football. It has not come about in a way that any of us would have wanted, but it's here and we need to make the best of it. So far this season a lot of things have gone wrong, some of them the fault of coaches & the owner. But a lot of it rests on your shoulders. You are the players and ultimately, you are the ones who must play the game. I know that you all will say that you have done your best and have tried your hardest, but it seems that some of you have given up and quit when the game has not gone our way. Not all of you. There are a few who will never quit, who keep fighting no matter how far behind we are. You know who you are.
But that is over. Now is the time to come together and remember who you are. You are the Dallas Cowboys. That is a honor and privilege. There are millions of people all over the world who would kill to be in your shoes. Remember that when you are playing today. Have pride in that and honor the star on your helmet, because you are in elite company.. Some of the greatest football players ever have worn the star. Play for yourself and play for the history of the greatest franchise in the NFL. It's not about winning and losing right now, it's about trying your absolute hardest and getting better each week that is left. I have faith in all of you and I know that you all can play better than you have so far. Make yourselves proud and make the fans remember why they cheered for you to begin with. I leave you with the words of one of the best Cowboy players ever, the Playmaker, Michael Irvin.
"Look up, get up, and don't ever give up. "
