Cowboys hire former kicker, Chris Boniol, as kicking consultant for David Buehler.
"We want to give every chance for David, and anyone else in competition for that job, to be the best that he can be and to get him as ready for the season as possible," said Cowboys special teams coordinator Joe DeCamillis, who said he believes Buehler can learn a lot, both on and off the field from Boniol.

Boniol was a great kicker for us in the dynasty days
Hopefully, he can get Buehler focused in on the correct mechanics.
Shocking we didn’t have a kicking coach since Hoffman. As I’ve said before, kicking is a lot like golf, mechanics and technique are extremely important. All pro golfers have swing coaches who work with them all the time, it just makes sense kickers should have the same coaching.

Now, we have one of Hoffman's protoges!

I like this
Boniol was the last kicker that I can remember trusting. Everyone since has given me grey hairs. Buehler needs to listen up and not take any “days off” hahaha. I hope Buehler can be reliable for years to come. The whole city of Anaheim rooting for this local.

cool
sounds like a good idea to me. Ideal world Buehler becomes FG kicker long term combining his power with accuracy and consistency.

If we can’t have Hoffman, then maybe one of his pupils can help straighten the kicking game out.
This is a good move
A Hoffman protege, good job Jerry. Too bad we didn’t get a kicking coach last off-season before Folk lost his mojo. Things might have turned out differently.
Drago says, "We must break you!"
Well
At least they’re giving him the best opportunity to succeed. Nonetheless, I don’t see this working out — not for next season anyway.

Hoffman is over rated
yeah he found decent kickers cheap. He never found a great one or one that had a really long and good career.
It wasn't Hoffman's job to find them, it was his job to coach them
and he did his job very well. No way he is overrated.
