just stating the fact that Eli did something any decent human being would have done if they were in his position.

but I don’t think this means they shouldn’t run a nice story about it, especially given the bad press that athletes commonly get for their misdeeds.

I don't think any reasonable person would have done the same.
This hospital is a for-profit business, not a charity, right? When a for-profit business hires you, it’s not unreasonable to expect them to fulfill their payment obligation. In effect, Eli’s giving a half-million-dollar donation to a for-profit business.
I wonder if this hospital is as kind to their customers who are broke.
What is a broke hospital doing spending a million dollars on an athlete’s endorsement, anyway? And why does it become Eli Manning’s job to fix their finances just because they hired him for promotional work?
