POLL - Cowboys fans - WHO ARE YOU ROOTING FOR?
Cowboys Nation,
Who are you rooting for on Sunday and why? I'll be rooting for the Aints. Here's my pathetic rationale-
THE SAINTS
A bit of history on the fleur de lis - in olden days, this was the symbol that harlots were branded with, in effect making it the original tramp stamp. This in turn means the Saints are a bunch of... well, let's just say tramps.
Never liked them (the Saints I mean, not tramp stamps). Don't feel that the whole Katrina thing means they should win it, any more than any other team. Though I will admit it does make for a nice, uplifting story.
Don't really love any player on their team (the way I have "sports crushes" on other teams' players- Ed Reed, Brian Urlacher or Andre Johnson). Nope, Drew Brees and Reggie Bush are just not all that compelling in my mind. The photo below pretty much sums up my feelings about the Saints.
Sean Payton is a weird looking dude.
Don't care that they were gracious about losing to us earlier this week, though it was decidedly classier than all that garbage spewed by the Eagles.
All I know is that I will be rooting for the Aints to beat...
THE COLTS
Is it bad that I am a total Manning hater?
On one hand he seems like a pretty decent guy. He has a good enough sense of humor to actually be funny on SNL (compare to appearances like Joe Montana). And you have to respect his mad field-general abilities and leadership.
But on the other hand there just seems to be an arrogance or 'I'm-the-sh*t' thing going on underneath all the smiles and mild manners. example "You know.... laser... rocket arm."
(Cut that Meat)
And he's the brother of She-li Manning. Most of you know him as the overrated QB of the Giants. But to me he's always been that kid- the snotty rich kid down the street- who, the only reason anyone played with him was because he had the G.I. Joe Aircraft Carrier. Smug little b-tard. ‘My Dad's Archie Manning. My brother's Peyton Manning. My name's Eli.' Peyton's blood relation to Eli is enough in and of itself to make me want to punch a flat screen.
Is Eli picking his nose here? Is he doing his best "Arnie" from What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
I don't want to see Peyton hoisting another Lombardi. I just fricken don't.
But... alas... I have a feeling that it is exactly what we will be seeing Sunday.

Completely agree on Manning
He strikes me something of a jerk. Like when he called Vanderjagt “idiot kicker” or blamed a playoff loss a few years back on his linemen. Most QBs can’t get away with something like that. I think he seems really conceited.
Also, I really hate how espn always talks about how “cerebral” the colts are. They just say that because manning changes the play and makes a bunch of hand gestures at the line. Yeah, Manning watches his share of tape, but so does everyone else. Brees probably watched a little game tape himself, I like how he’s doing all this at 6-0 ft, whereas Manning was pretty much born a QB.
/rant
So, yeah… I guess I’m for the saints (even if most saints fans I know are completely ignorant of the game).

Are you seriously going to use the "idiot kicker" as a knock against Peyton?
What in Vanderjagt’s career ever suggested that he was anything BUT an idiot?
I think quite the opposite. Peyton to me does not at all seem like a jerk. That is what made his SNL skit where he was a jerk that much more funny.
You just don't say it to the media
Imagine if Romo said that in a game, everyone would criticize him. Look, I know i’m in the minority because he’s great on television, it’s just my opinion that he seems to be a jerk off it; he’s had a couple beefs with his linemen. Romo never blamed the Vikings loss on his line, even if it was probably the lines fault, Romo welcomes that negativity from fans if it takes some pressure off his team, whereas Peyton seems to want nothing more but to blame other players to try and boost his image.

i'm with tyhall on this one
there’s something really ‘politician’ about Peyton. he’s like the bill clinton of football. he’ charming and you either like him- OR want to like him.
but underneath it, there is some serious a-hole stuff going on.
Right after the game, say as little as possible.

Just my opinion
But I don’t look at it as him trying to “boost his image”. Seriously, how exactly does Peyton Manning need to boost his image? Like you said, you are in the vast minority in your thinking of him as a jerk, he doesn’t need to boost his image at all.
He’s just ultra-competitive. And Vanderjagt was a complete tool. Now the time he blamed his OL, I’ll give you that one. But remember, athletes sometimes say things they might regret, or get read the wrong way. Like last year when Tony didn’t care if he won or lost after the Philly game lol.
In regards to boosting his image
It was at a time when Manning was known as a choke artist. He was widely regarded as a good regular season QB who couldn’t make it to the big game. In order to avoid the negative conotation of “choke artist”, it’s my opinion he began to blame losses on other players so as to help take some pressure off himself.
Also, I don’t believe Romo ever said he couldn’t care less if he won or lost against Philly. He said something like “worse things can happen” or something like that.
Manning doesn’t need me in his camp, but I think I have at least as much evidence that he is a jerk off the field as other people do of him being a nice guy off the field. Now, even I respect the guy’s production and ability as a QB, but everytime I see him I think he’s just protecting the Manning family image.

I know Romo didn't say that
But that’s what the mediots general consensus was after his statement.
Did you ever stop to think that there isn’t really a “Manning family image” and maybe they’re just really nice people?
But anyhow, unless someone knows them personally we’ll never know.
God I wish the Cowboys were playing so that we didn’t have to talk about goofy stuff like this..
Not to be a know-it-all, but I've never heard that the fleur-de-lis was a "tramp stamp."
It’s better known as the symbol of the French monarchy: http://www.fleurdelis.com/fleur.htm . Does that mean the Saints are kings?
here you go, know-it-all
:o)
“Those who have read the Marquis de Sade’s "Justine" or Alexander Dumas’s "The Three Musketeers" know the fleur-de-lis is not always a good symbol. The fleur-de-lis was recognized as the stamp of a criminal in pre-revolutionary France. While most commonly associated with French royalty and Christianity, with the creation of the republic, the fleur-de-lis was often associated with being a traitor to the state.”

I'm for the Colts for sure
But this is the first Super Bowl I can ever think of for me personally that I won’t be too upset no matter who wins.
I want the Colts because I think Peyton is 10x the QB Brady is, and another Super Bowl will give that more ammo. I think Peyton is the greatest QB of the modern era, surpassed perhaps only by Otto Graham and Unitas.
I like this post for pure comedy value. Props Chim.
I’m pulling for the Saints because I always pull for the underdog in most situations. And boy are they getting the underdog treatment from the media. Maybe I just love it when the talking heads are wrong, not sure. Anything to make the BSPN robots look foolish is fine by me.

Saints
Don’t like ‘em, but Indy fans seem really obnoxious, and not in that "so stupid they’re funny" way Saints fans are.
I hope it’s a terrible game. 3-0 or something equally mediocre.
Epic Fail since 1985
Colts
Not even a question. The better Manning brother (who I would love to see one-up Eli) is definitely easier to root for than Drew “We deserved it” Brees. Plus, the Saints fans that were on here during that week are reason enough to root for the Colts.
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.

The Saints
They have more ex-Cowboys on their team.
Head Coach – Sean Payton (former offensive assistant)
Scott Shanle
Remi Ayodele
Scott Fujita
Did I miss any other coaches or players?
Is playing smart too much to ask?
i like this too, even if
Sean Payton is a weird looking guy

Out of pure jealousy...
I root for whatever AFC team is in it…..One exception was when the Giants played the Patriots. I actually rooted for the Giants that game since Dallas went 13 -3 that year….I figured if the Patriots lost, that would be a bigger story / shock than the Cowboys losing in the divisional round. But I did not feel any better after that Superbowl anyway.
Go Colts!
Anomoly............Finally here.........
Dirty Manc's...
Go Blues! Go Chelsea!
PS-I think I’ll be rooting for the Saints. Payton + Brees + NOLa/long-suffering fans + cooler unis. Plus, as much as it bugs me to hear her speak at all, shots of jumping up and down Kim Kardashian >>> smug Eli.

I want the Saints to win
and I’m no Manning fan as well. Guy is a great qb, one of the best to ever play, however, he has flaws in game like all other qbs and if you expose those flaws, he looks like any other ordinary qb.
Hopefully the Saints can accomplish that Sunday…doubtful they will but I’ll be pulling for them anyways.
In Romo we Trust
I don't know Terry, I think he's cut down on those flaws
His biggest thing used to be the 3-4, but he’s starting to do very well against the 3-4 now.
Granted he’s not perfect, but damn is he close…
Which QB doesn't have flaws in his game?

Colts
Even though Lance Moore is a fellow Toledo Rocket, that won’t be enough to sway my allegiances. I have never liked the Saints. Ever. I have to admit I have always liked Brees, even when he was in college. I am no fan of Reggie Bush. I respect his amazing abilities, but I couldn’t care less if he ever won another game.
What I really can’t stand is the whole, “they deserve it,” or “wouldn’t it be the perfect ending to the New Orleans story?” I’m going to puke. Without getting into a rant about entitlement programs and the entitlement mentality that pervades those in the programs, they deserve nothing except the opportunity to play for the Championship. They almost lost the #1 seed.
Colts. Where to start? Dad is a Colts fan. Has been since his youth watching Unitas. I absolutely hated Manning at Tennessee. I couldn’t stand him in his NFL youth either. His bravado grated on me. The announcers were all Peyton, all the time. He had great coaching, some amazing running backs, receivers and blocking. Still couldn’t win it.
He doesn’t come across as arrogant to me any more. He may be over-confident, but he’s not arrogant. Not when you can back it up like he does. The more he lost in offensive skill players, the more he took it upon himself and the better the Colts played. There is no better game manager than Manning. No man-crush, but you have to admit the guy can play like no other.
I also like their coach, even though I couldn’t tell you his name. lol
So, in the end, my distaste for the Saints and all the sappy “feel-good story” garbage vastly outweighs any negatives associated with Manning.
Go Colts!
Peyton Manning
is the best QB in the game, arguable the best ever. I want him to win a 2nd Super Bowl just to help those who think Super Bowls are the only way to measure QBs understand how good he is.
Also, New Orleans is a city we shouldn’t have wasted money rebuilding so I’m pulling for the Colts.
Kansas and Northern
-Interesting stuff!
I knew i wasn’t the only one out there with a weird, irrelevant, YET still relevant rationale for who to root for in this game.

Saints
I think Peyton Manning is awesome, but Indianapolis is a dried up washed out bland, tasteless midwestern hole. Have you ever had boiled potatoes that, no matter how much salt pepper you add, you just can’t shake the bland tastelessness?
Indy, you got no flavor.
New Orleans, on the other hand, …

Katrina versus Brees
I really like Drew Brees and yes I have a bias as I won a fantasy title with him as the QB. That aside I can’t stand New Orleans, the city, Loisianan the State, did I mention that New Orleans suck. The only problem I saw from Katrina is that the storm didn’t finish off the town. I know it sounds harsh, but after visiting there, it makes me sick to my stomach to listen to all that whining. Hurricanes are god awful and it is a tragedy when one hits a town, but Jesus one would think that New Orleans is the only town that has ever been hit. The people of New Orleans are a bunch of lazy whining worhtless humans looking for any and every hand out they can get. All that said I do like Peyton based on his performance and those idiotic commercials. So in the end I hope that Peyton does well and Brees does well, but in the long run I hope its a tie. lol
