Chances of upgrade on Watkins, Hurd or Procter
Every year I get overhyped that some rookie is gonna come in here and replace/upgrade. Statisticly don't 50% of 1st round WR's end up as a bust? Don't know round taken for L Sweed or M Kelly, but are they better than Hurd? I know the odds of getting a replacement decrease the lower the draft round. I would like to upgade the 10 or 11 positions considered available and my draft hope springs eternal, but I can't see more than 4 or 5 max draftees replacing guys on the roster now who can play and contribute on special teams. So, Realist Larry and you other bloggers that know more about this stuff than me, how many positions can we expect to improve with this draft.

Both Sweed and Kelly were 2nd rounders and Sweed hasn’t been that good but Kelly started to get better this year, had 26 catches. Hurd has 31 for his career.
Realistically I think that 6-8 spots could be manned by different players next year.

we don’t have to reach for WRs. we can find a good on later in the draft with less risk.
I keep hopeing that Watkins will show us something like he did in the one preseason game.He has till the cuts to do it this year.Ball looked good in spots.
Procter and Macquistern(sp) should be gone.Brewster and others from IR will take thier place.

1.5 Drafts this year...
don’t forget that we really have 1.5 drafts this year since half the guys drafted last year never played because of injuries. My gut tells me there is gonna be some serious competition come summer camp. This is the story that few are discussing.

Really only 2 positions can be upgraded IMO.
FS and LG are really the only 2 unless you want to count STs and backups. KR/PR could definitely be upgraded as could the dimeback and back up S.( Though we still do not know if Mike can be better than Ken)
agreed flounder
We are well positioned for the injury bug this year – with the existing roster, plus most of last year’s draft and now this year’s draft, holy smokes, we are going to be LOADED.
