Roy Williams Trade seems That Much More Ridiculous
Roy Williams Vs. Brandon Marshall Vs. Aquan Boldin? While I understand Jerry is as Jerry does, but now this seems to just take the cake...
As a devout fan of the Cowboys, for over 20 years now, we've had our highs and lows, the highlights and low lights. I've seen Jerry pull off some of the most incredible and ground breaking feats imaginable. The "The Death Star" aka Cowboys Stadium is beyond magnificent. The Triplets along with half of that team of the 90s are HOFers. Having said that, now-adays, Jerry seems to act like your proverbial senile grandpa you can't put in a nursing home, but can't keep letting him make decisions either....
Brandon Marshall was traded for a second-round pick in next week’s draft and a second-rounder in 2011 in addition to the 47.5 million contract extension that includes $24 million in guaranteed money.
Lets see what you get for your money? With Kyle Orton as his QB, You get 1120 yards (in 15 games), 10 TDs, 74.7 yards per game, and 5.2 YAC.
Anquan Boldin was traded for fifth-round pick to the Ravens for Baltimore’s third- and fourth-round picks. He agreed to a new four-year, $28 million contract with his new team.
Lets see what you get for your money? With Kurt Warner sharing the rock with Larry Fitzy, You get 1024 yards (in 15 games), 4 TDs, 68.3 yards per game, and 4.5 YAC.
And then there is Roy Williams. The Cowboys will give up a first-round pick in 2009, plus a third- and sixth-rounder that year for Williams and a seventh-round pick in '10. For insult to injury, The Cowboys and Williams agreed to a five-year extension worth $45 million, including more than $20 million guaranteed.
Lets see what you waisted get for your money. With Romo have a 3 headed running attack, You get 596 (in 15 games), 7TDs, 39.7 yards per game, and 5.6 YAC.

Hey, it was a bad trade, we all know that
No use to keep bitching and complaining about it, it’s done and over with, if he doesn’t produce this season, we cut bait and move on.
In Romo we Trust

Agreed
But its hard to forget when 2-3xs better players are getting traded all over the place. Santonio Holmes? Headache with a Superbowl MVP and ring. Brandon Marshall, the T.O. redux but his numbers don’t lie. Anquan Boldin, has been a beast from day 1. Hell, Braylon Edwards Mr. McDroppsie himself still has better numbers.
How in the world did pick the absolute worse of the bunch with one of the best QBs of that group throwing to him?
at least RW isn't a trouble maker
so there’s one thing he has over Marshall and Holmes.
In Romo we Trust
He ain't much of a WR either
In an interview Willie was ask if he was thinking about retiring. He paused for a moment, smiled and replied " I play music and golf, which one do you think I need to give up"?
It's not the first bad trade....
And I am sure it won’t be the last by our beloved Cowboys.
Any team, in any sport can miscalucate value when trading for a player. At least it’s the only recent bad trade I can think of for Dallas. And I would even say the jury is still out….although not for long.
I have to agree with Terry in that we need to get over it already….
Anomoly............Finally here.........
Agree
That one actually set the franchise back at a time they should have been rebuilding.
RW trade was poor, but it had a much smaller effect on the team.
to make the jump to the next level, Odrick said today he needs to work on one area. "Just being more violent overall,'' Odrick said. "Play the game and play it right, violently.''

I will get over the awfulness of that trade when RW is no longer wearing the star
Lifetime Cowboys Fan from the Swamps of Jersey
CUT ROY!!!
draft a reciever, roy is terrible, awful, pitiful, embarrassing, a moron, an idiot, and complacent retard with bricks for hands, and sh-ts for brains…. i hate him….. cut him.
Texas Stadium has a hole in the roof so God can watch his favorite team play football.
yes cut him
for the sole reason of me hating him. selfish i know.
Texas Stadium has a hole in the roof so God can watch his favorite team play football.
This is water under the bridge.
It was a stupid trade, not the first, but I hope the last.

I vote this is the same guy as that one guy.
But I guess he should get a pat on the head and a milkbone for at least trying a little harder.
Could add Santonio Holmes and Randy Moss to your list too
Ironically, I think the Cowboys did a lot to depress the trade values of WRs (especially malcontents) this year.
Between the busted years of RW and our offensive improvement after jettisoning T.O…teams aren’t going to bet the farm on something that could break bad multiple ways. On the bright side, at least we’re not out there chasing these guys either.

After this
I’d be absolutely SHOCKED if jerry goes the trade route again. How many drafts are we gonna throw away trading high picks for wrs?
We’d be in a much much better position this draft if we had those picks last draft.
But star WR's don't cost a whole draft
That’s the point.

Marshall just went for 2 2nds
Which will probably be a somewhat comparable value. Assuming fair market value for Roy (at the time) would be a 2nd-3rd rounder, that still would be a bad trade for us. We probably would’ve cut him already if we didn’t have so much stock invested in him.
After seeing Joey Galloway suffer an immediate serious injury and Roy WIlliams’ play fall off a cliff, I just can’t see us going after a veteran wr instead of developing one ourselves.
Hmmmmm

Anything said above is purely the opinion of AFB unless said otherwise.
