Ten 2010 Predictions of the Cowboys and the NFL
So with the draft in the books, I thought I'd look deep into my crystal ball and reveal what it shows about the upcoming 2010 season. Some of these predictions are logical, some are possible, some are reaches, some are vague, and some are bullsh*t. All are in the spirit of fun.
1. One of these big-time players: Romo, Austin, Witten, Ware, or Jones, will get a serious injury that will sideline him for a good deal of the year.
2. The Cowboys will win the division and have a first round bye in the playoffs.
3. By the end of the season, and much to fans' chagrin, Roy Williams will still be the starting wide receiver over Patrick Crayton, Dez Bryant, Kevin Ogletree, and Sam Hurd. However, his role as the number 2 receiver will be clearly known to him and the team.
4. With Flozell Adams off the team, the Cowboys will be in the middle of the pack as far as how many flags fly their way are concerned.
5. The Cowboys will sweep the Redskins and split with both the Giants and the Eagles.
6. Neither the Saints nor the Colts will play in their respective conference championship games.
7. Kevin Kolb will be a good, not great, quarterback.
8. The New York Jets will have the best season of all in the AFC.
9. The Oakland Raiders will rise to a level of minimal respectibility.
10. Brett Favre will come back to play for the Vikings, but will not have a season nearly as good as 2009.

I'll give you one more just for good measure
The Lions split with each of their NFC North rivals.
2/3 is more likely, but I really like what they’re doing up there and I think they will be much improved this year.
Also, if I have to pick two guys from that list of injuries to save, I’ll take Romo and Ware. I have enough confidence in the guys behind Austin, Jones, and Witten to think we’d be able to survive without them (that said, I would still be heartbroken if any of them went down).
I like all this Grady
People don’t listen to Soothsayers too much anymore. That was ancient times in Greece and Rome. Those ancient needs are coming back though, because some of the so-called “experts” don’t know they’re head from a hole in a wall.
I’m kinda a soothsayer myself, although I think your predictions are more likely, but I’ll take my shot anyway. Mine are not predictions as much as they are what I am looking to have happen…
1. Tashard Choice will have a bigger role in the offense than what we have seen, and MB3 will go back to his closer/goal line role when Julius was here (By the way, is Julius now coming back?).
2. Dez Bryant will become the most feared WR in the NFL by the end of the year, and will have an impact year.
3. The Vikings game in Minnesota will be the telling story of how far the offense has progressed.
4. More screen passes to Felix and Tashard
5. An increase in success on short yardage running plays, up the middle especially

Instead of just more screens, how about more screens and draws.
With our weapons and our suspect line, I think teams will take their chances blitzing much more. We will have to become great in the execution of our draws and screens. If the execution is great, LOOK OUT, because Austin, Felix, Ogletree, and now Dez, all can run after the catch and break tackles. One mistake and they are gone.
Hot damm, thinking of this is firing me up.
KICK ASS every day!!!
That's the reason
for 2 years now, I have been fervently saying that the Cowboys offense needs to use Felix and Choice ALOT, screens, draws…whatever. using those two alot more than we’ve seen will relieve some pressure on Romo to go deep more often (I believe).
I would say using MB3 more on screens and draws, but he can’t juke, and seems to have lost a step with his speed. And if the Garrett is not going to use Tashard, then maybe they should trade him. They will get a 2nd or 3rd for him. But I would think trading Tashard would not only be one of the dumbest moves the Cowboys could make, but one of the dumbest moves in football period. If he starts having success running the ball, just imagine how much that opens it up for felix to go out for a pass? or when they run a draw with Felix? In todays NFL, you want to mix up a defense by not showing them a featured back (if you can). The Cowboys can.
Felix’s speed is what makes him more than just someone to handoff to in this offense. I would use Felix and Tashard in the backfield together alot more than what we’ve seen. Save MB3 for the 3rd qtr and on, and near the goal line. Mix Tashard and Felix down there near the goal line with MB3.
Since the O-line has not been adressed (only1 example of Oline not being adressed for instance would be not moving up to draft Unger last year- we did have enough picks to do it, didn’t we?), I believe using the offense this way will really open up the passing game. Failing to go after top flight talent for the OL is my biggest beef, because protecting Romo and developing a strong run offense is job 1. This doesn’t seem to be the agenda though, and the non-pick of Unger, as well as not drafting any highly rated OL in the draft shows that the brass believes that they can develop 2nd tier talent into first. And that’s ok, because maybe thay can. But I don’t feel like that when I am watching the Vikings Dline massacre the Cowboys Oline.
Like I have said in other posts, the Vikings game, in minnesota, coming up this year, and going up against they’re D-line, will be a telling tale of how much this offense has progressed, and whether they can be relied upon to come through with a super bowl or not. And it will all rest upon the offensive line. And I don’t even think that Brett Favre being there or not will matter as much as how effective the Cowboys Oline is playing.

I really hope
Choice has a much bigger role this year. I hope Roy has less of a role…as in no role
Possible
All of those are very possible, I actually see most, if not all of the items with the exception of #1 happening. I don’t even want to think about #1 happening. Too scary.
One good thing to come from the 2009 season: Even the Saints now have more Super Bowl titles than the Eagles, LOL!!!
We've been fortunate
It’s the only reason I put it on there…frankly, we’re bound to have a 2008-Tom-Brady season happen sometime. We’ve been luck that shit hasn’t happened yet!
Before you ask why I'm a fan of both the Cowboys and Jets, I'll just say the answer is complicated and that it just turned out that way.
2009-2010 Dallas Mavericks: It's the defense, stupid!
Colts have been lucky
for 12 seasons inr egard to peyton Manning. Romo’s aleady missed some time at least with injuries.
Not really lucky
Manning just never gets hit.
RW is the opposite of WR. Coincidence? I think not.

What the French?! Toast!
If there is any team we split its the skins
4-2 in the division but split with skins
What the French?! Toast!
Just what I was thinking
I agree, though. With the other split coming from the Giants.
