First Post-Draft Cuts: Henderson / Hovan of interest?

Seems a few NFL teams aren't worried about being as "nice" as Jerry and have released their veterans following drafting their potential replacements (rather than before - and then not drafting their replacements....)

The first significant names include John Henderson from the Jags and Hovan from the Bucs and Adalius Thomas from NE.

Henderson will probably find a starting role somewhere so probably not realistic for the 'Boys. Also a very different style of player to the Rat, being a 4-3 DT. But a change-up isn't necessarily a bad thing and we do need to reduce the number of snaps Ratliff plays or we will rapidly burn him out. Chiefs are interviewing him about NT in their 3-4.

Hovan is intriguing as my sense he is more of the quick penetration type player that Rat is (although 10 year vet, likely lost a step or two). His production has declined and the Bucs finished last in run D last year - the scribes seem to lay a fair bit of the blame on the Bucs DT's. If we could get him for the right price he may be worth a look as a backup. With fewer snaps, his performance per snap may improve.

Adalius Thomas is out there too, but with the Sean Lee pick doesn't really fit.

The Cowboys need to keep a close eye on the teams that drafted young interior linemen. Hopefully a couple of decent veteran interior o-linemen or safeties with large contracts get bounced for younger players post-draft and we can potentially sign on a better value contract for a year or 2 till our young'uns are ready.
