based on PFF's analysis: Hatcher was the 10th best 3-4DE in the league per snaps played. He's been athletic for a long time, came from a small school with out much top end experience. This year he rises from the bench and becomes a force. We'll end up trading Spears in Training Camp. Marcus Dixon will take Hatcher's spot on the bench

Shh...we're not supposed to think of that.

Or that it is profootballfocus and therefore blatantly unreliable.

I just want a post to point to when I'm right!

I’ve waited on this guy long enough for sure, he either does seize the starters role or he’s gone at this point

If you're right, I'll eat my words.

But until then, I’m going to flat out say that I expect Spears to start for the Cowboys again next year.

That's a safe prediction

Remember when he was almost going to beat Spears out in his second season. Then Brian Stewart made him run sprints to the fence one day before he had stretched and he ended up with a hamstring (or something). Never seemed to be as close to taking Spears spot since then.

to make the jump to the next level, Odrick said today he needs to work on one area. "Just being more violent overall,'' Odrick said. "Play the game and play it right, violently.''

Makes sense if we can get decent trade value, otherwise no

Spears has a cap friendly contract and fills a key position (especially for teams switching to the 3-4, like the Redskins), so hopefully we could get a decent OL, DB or draft pick for him.

If not I wouldn’t move him in a contract year, when he has every reason to finally play some inspired football…unless we draft a DE early on. Why, just to accelerate the development of Marcus Dixon? Hatcher should still have a decent shot to start or at east get more PT either way. He’s already making more money than Spears, and so is Bowen.
