Took a tour before the 08-09 season

Right before the season started. It was incredible. Got to catch a 50 yarder for a score.
Dropped the first one, and knew it was my only chance to ever catch a TD where all the greats had.

So i made sure the next one was hauled in.

One of my favorite memories:)

oh, and my first 1st!

went on the same tour and mine was nailing a 45 yarder

People in the group wanted me to sign right there, lol.

There was a family down touring from south carolina i believe

and their little boys starting chanting TO TO TO after the grab.

all the laughs went away when i botched the hold for their dad’s FG attempt, though.

As great as the new stadium is

I’m going to miss Texas Stadium, there are a lot of things about it that I like better than the new stadium the most of which was the fans could get closer to the players during warmups.

I liked that...

you could actually get a bud light served in a cup from a stand between sections 32-36.

I always had to search for it though.

As cool as the new stadium is

the old one was great. i went to one game in the old (the last divisional game vs the giants W 20-8 no offense point surrendered and the first monday night game in the new stadium this season) and while the new one is awesome with all its flash and grandour, Texas Stadium had an aura to it that wont be replicated for a loong time.

First year in Texas Stadium the Cowboys won

their first SB, too bad the Boys couldn’t repeat at Jerry’s world

In an interview Willie was ask if he was thinking about retiring. He paused for a moment, smiled and replied " I play music and golf, which one do you think I need to give up"?

Two things that this team is missing

that the old Cowboys had. A great coach and a great GM. I like Jerry as an owner, but still don’t like him as a GM. IMO Tom Landry was the best coach that ever walked the sideline. Wade is a good DC, but as a HC I’m not a big fan. As long as Jerry is the GM/owner he’s going to run things, not the HC or anyone else. He tried giving up some power with Tuna and hated it.

For all of his flaws, Jerry is a much better GM

than the majority of GMs in the league. He has learned a lot over the years and has finally applying that learned knowledge lately.

His weakness is going after WR prima donas, but of course everyone has a weakness and that seems to be Jerry’s.

I hope after 20 years he learned something.

Those 2 trades set the team back alot. I think the worst two trades in the history of the franchise. He seems to be better on draft day, but he still pulls the trigger on big contracts too soon IMO. I’m on the fence about giving Austin big money until he proves he’s not a one hit wonder. On the other hand Dallas’ chances of being a top teir team without Autsin aren’t so good.

I disagree about the big contracts

I love the fact that Jerry attempts to retain his proven veterans, especially when there isn’t anyone else on the roster that can replace that player.

MB3, Flo and Hamlin were given big contracts, but at the time we didn’t have adequate replacements for any of them.

Good point

It’s a damned if you do and damned if you don’t situation. Hindsight is always 20-20.

Youre right.

The skins have the right game plan hiring a football brain trust. think jerry will make an al davis out of himself or will he pass the reins on to stephen before too long?

and i am a big fan of wade for what he did for our d the last few years….but i wasnt on board with the whole extension deal. Almost like showing JG the door..

I'm really going to miss that place..

Parking @ the sports bar across the highway, having to walk down the embankment under 183 to get to the stadium… lol

One of my favorite times there was actually a Metallica concert back in 2000…stadium was at max capacity.. someone on stage got everyone riled up, and all of a sudden, thousands of ppl were ripping off the stadium seat pads and chunking them in the air towards the field… you could barely see in front of you…craziest thing i’ve ever seen :)
