Alex Barron is officially a member of the Dallas Cowboys.
From DC.com:
Barron was in Dallas on Monday and is expected to be on the field May 17 for the Cowboys' first OTA (organized team activity) practice session.
Barron, the 19th overall pick in 2005 - one spot ahead of former No. 20 selection Marcus Spears - replaces some of the veteran experience lost when the Cowboys released long-time starter Flozell Adams in April. Barron has started 74 of 76 career games, including two seasons at left tackle.
Barron and Carpenter were made expendable by their old teams during the NFL Draft.

No kidding
I could care less if this guy does absolutely nothing for us because we’re finally rid of Barbie

Hopefully Brewster or one of the rookies can go off in preseason so we don't have to waste a roster spot on this guy
otherwise he’ll be a decent insurance policy, in that our season won’t completely go down the crapper if something happens to one of our starters.
2009 BTB Fantasy Champ... Deal with it
How do you get that wrong?
Dude had Hooters Hoosiers on his mind.
Trust them...they know what they're doing.

this is good news
i know people have capped on barron, and i did see the youtube videos of him getting run over, but i still think it’s better to have him available for swing tackle duty than to count on brewster, mcquistan, or young. if someone else emerges and forces him off the roster, i’m fine with that, but getting him for carpenter can only be considered a positive. i think the rams came out all right on this trade as well, making it the proverbial win-win. potentially some reward-very low risk for both teams.
I'm not a big fan of the whole devil you know mentality
I would like to see what Brewster can do first in camp and preseason before we anoint Barron as the swing tackle.

Barron will be the swing tackle
It’s as close to a lock as you can get. I’d rather see Brewster focus on trying to win the LG spot from Kosier.

I am pretty happy about this move.
Bobby Carpenter was going to get squeezed out anyway in all likelihood and I think Barron’s experience is much needed for our backup offensive line depth. Between Barron and Holland, at least we now how have people at both the T and G spots who have started NFL games and performed serviceably at times (it was once Holland went out that our 2008 offensive line fell apart).
If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
Both guys played at FSU

Here's a random thought
Jerry decided he needed to cut Bobbie soon, so he asked Stephen: “Hey, Boy Wonder, how can I cut the Carp without looking foolish?”. Stephen replied: “Why don’t we trade Bobbie for someone else who’s also about to be cut by his team?”.
Jerry promptly got on the phone to the Rams, et voila: a trade that makes both teams look good, when both teams could have just as easily gone ahead and cut their player and then signed the other guy.
This may be one of the reasons why Stephen Jones is Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of the Dallas Cowboys.

Very plausible.
Mainly because I like Stephen, too. Jerry can do the wheelin and dealin on the phone, let Stephen supply strategery.

I think it has more to do with
The fact that if you don’t trade, then you’re inviting other teams to compete with you in getting the tackle. There are quite a few teams who could use a Alex Barron. Maybe it’s a non-issue and he comes here or maybe some team sees potential in him and snatches him away.
Why take the risk? Just trade it out and get what you need.

Good luck with the Rams Bobby ...
He never lashed out or anything. Which is good. Cause a lot of people talked a lot of crap about him. Handled himself like a pro. Godspeed.
Welcome Barron. May you find more success here than you did in St. Louis. Work hard and act accountable. You’ll quickly win most of us over that way.
"They need security in the world, Craig!"
Has anyone heard what kind of shape he is in?
I read that he was not working out with his St Louis teammates.
aight
we got that o-line depth everyone was wringing hands over during the draft. Now go find us a veteran safety and let’s roll with this thing.

Barron Most Penalized OL?
I just read where he has the most penalties on the OL since 2005. He led the NFL with five holding calls and 14 penalties last season.
Geaux Cowboys!
I guess it's say to say....
he had his ‘Flo’ on. Now, if can only learn how to trip people.

Free played LOT vs. Seattle
BTW, Free played the last few series of the Seattle game at LOT last season, watch the end of that game to see a small sample of his work there besides the Vikes game. Yeah it’s the 2009 Seahawks, but he makes some nice downfield blocks in the run game.
