Around SBN: Indy 500: Coverage of the 'Greatest Spectacle In Racing'

Excerpt from a Yahoo article on Roy Williams:

Earlier this offseason, Williams called together his family and advisors for a meeting on what to do. Agent Ben Dogra came to Texas to meet with Williams, his mother and the rest of his family.

"We talked about having a plan," Williams said. "What am I going to do? How am I going to turn this whole thing around? … What’s happened here, it’s on me to figure it out. It’s on me to fix it."

The essence of the plan was simple and pointed: work harder than ever before toward becoming the player Williams believes he can be.

Silly season over at BGN too.

I hope it’s entertaining to you guys, because it ain’t doing much here.

Its all a part of that inferiority complex.

If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.

Haha, Roy Williams stories are always crowd-pleasers.

Anyone in here watch the Lakers play with Ron Artest?

When I watch Roy play it reminds me of Ron’s game, which just looks off and completely lost…Ron dribbling the ball looks a little kid in his first pee-wee games, same with Roy running routes and catching. Ron can’t shoot worth a damn either anymore, he USED to have a offensive game in Indy before the brawl, and did in Sacramento, Roy had one season worth mentioning in Detroit…Ron play’s D well, Roy is an outstanding blocker as we all know…but it just seems like these two players are both sometimes screwing their teams. I might be crazy, who knows…I just hate Ron Artest lol

That's a pretty good cross-sport analogy.

I actually am watching the LA game right now and Artest just took a wide open three with 58 seconds left despite LA being up by three and having just gotten a new shot clock. It definitely was the same type of “oh come on” play that RW made famous last year.

If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.

And then he just hit the game winner.

I hope Roy can make a clutch play like that next year.

In other news, I really can’t stand the Lakers at all. Its going to be a sad day for me if the NBA finals are Celtics-Lakers.

If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.

I know! That what I was thinking, Ron takes that crazy shot then saves the day..

Roy goes and drops a couple passes then will go and catch 5 balls in the first half to secure a drive…It’s just makes you wonder what a couple players like that could do if they consistently fired on all cylinders ya know?

I’ve been a Kobe fan since he came into the league cuz he is the only one that is comparable to being as clutch as Jordan, but I still think there’s a pretty big gap there. But I definitely do hate all New England sports.

I've got no basketball loyalties

but I love the way the Celtics play. They are one of the few “tough” teams left in the NBA that isn’t laughing and joking around all the time. I remember the glory days of my childhood (Jordan Era) when everyone hated each other, especially in the playoffs, and it was intense. We don’t get those rivalries anymore.

by TheAnsah on May 28, 2010 1:52 PM CDT up reply actions

I hate the Celtics as a team but I have to give Rondo some mad props for his play.

The way he has developed is pretty insane and I honestly hope that Roddy Beaubois for Dallas can develop into a similar player down the road (I think Beaubois can be a better scorer though considering his outside shot).

As for the Lakers, I get that Kobe is clutch and I can appreciate that, but I honestly just can’t stand him (something about his attitude) and a lot of the people in his supporting cast. It also probably has something to do with being a Dallas fan and continually watching the Lakers get the supportive ref treatment that has eluded us (can you believe the Mavs are 2-16 in playoff games reffed by Danny Crawford?)

If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.

by Cowboyfan729 on May 28, 2010 3:02 PM CDT up reply actions

That's crazy about the 2-16 when Crawford ref's

I think Basketball as a whole is complete BS. Mavs are my second favorite team, I love Dirk, and I cant imagine who wouldn’t want to play for a guy like Cuban. Makes me think that’s what Jerry was like as a younger guy…Just Jerry likes his money too much he wouldn’t talk as much crap lol

In the 3rd or 4th game of the Suns-Lakers series, when it was in Phoenix, the Suns went to the line 29 times(before the Lakers started fouling at the end to try to get back in) the Lakers took 10 the whole game. It’s terrible anymore, whoever is home is getting the calls. David Stern is the worst commish in sports cuz he just lets it all happen, and he doesn’t care because in the end, better series = more money.

by JLMax09 on May 28, 2010 5:47 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree.

David Stern by far is the worst commissioner with Selig and Bettman finishing in a dead heat for second. I have to take every result in the NBA with a grain of salt ever since the 2006 NBA Finals when I had to watch Dwayne Wade get every single call in that series.

If I had a nickel for every Super Bowl the Eagles have won, I would have zero nickels.
