Well, tomorrow is the day that I have seen many Cowboys fans waiting for. The day that O.J. Atogwe will become a free agent unless something happens that keeps him in St. Louis which will only be a long term deal. For one haven't been looking forward to the day because I think we're going to have one of those uproars why we didn't go after Atogwe when he is a good player and not old like Sharper and has proven he can force turnovers.
I just hope all of these Atogwe enthusiasts aren't setting themselves up for disappointment. I know its an uncapped year, but Jerry and most people are playing it conservative. We still have to sign Austin to a long term deal and already are overpaying Roy Williams with the contract that Austin should probably have if not a bigger contract. Atogwe will probably be looking for a bigger paycheck than Rolle got from the Giants. Most likely he will get it because we aren't the only team in need of safety help. I am willing to bet that the Dolphins will be interested as well as the Bears amongst many other teams. He will get a big contract because he will go where the best deal is most likely.
The only reason he might not go for big money is to go to a team to win a Super Bowl, which would make Dallas a more likely candidate but not by a whole lot. I'd love to have him but it just doesn't seem economically efficient right now. To me, what would have to happen is for Roy to take a paycut to more match his recent production.
