Andre Gurode has faith in Doug Free.
"I think Doug will do just fine," Gurode said. "I've been around Doug his whole career and when he first came in he was a high-motor guy, real nervous, but you could see so much potential. To see him go on the field last year and do some of the things he did, it didn't shock me.
Before he got on the field to play, the guys told him, 'It's going to be like this. Calm down, you've done this before. Relax and you'll be fine.' He went out there and did his thing. He just waited for his opportunity and he did the best with it when it came."

grrrr.....
… Free has one of the best practice partners in the league: WARE!
He’s had three years to refine his LT skills against the best in the business. My money is on Free being a strength of this line.
Try not to get into a pissing match with a skunk :)
+1 I think with smaller speed rushers being the trend
and the 3-4 becoming more prevalent with smaller OLB. I think guys like Free may become better suited for today’s game.
KICK ASS every day!!!

DWare didn't sound like he was confident in Free
in this video at the 4:10 mark.
Of course, being a great teammate, DWare went to Clarence Hill a week later to emphasize that he thinks Free will be great. But you have to wonder why his instant reaction to the release of Flozell wasn’t “No problem. Free can step right in”. It was “We need to go out and draft a LT or re-sign Flozell because if you can’t protect your QB, you’re not going anywhere”.
Free is untested at LT, thats why
Sure he did a great job at RT, but those two positions are like night and day. I’m going to be concerned until he performs on that side as he did on the right last season.
In Romo we Trust
ouch to the 4:10 mark :)
well, at least Free has to practice against Ware … can’t hurt
… and wouldn’t be surprised if that comment had more to do with Flo and Ware’s friendship.

+1 on the friendship.
It was the first thing I thought of.
Flo plays 10 years for an organization and with 1 phone call its over. Ware knows one day it will be him.
KICK ASS every day!!!
Glad Ware cleared up the misinterpretation
I think Ware was paying respect to Flo with that original statement. Didn’t he make a similar statement when Greg Ellis left, and in trying to pay a complement to Ellis, it sounded like he was dissing Spencer? Am I remembering that right?
Anyway, I think Free will be alright, maybe even better than Flo was last season in pass protection. Less penalties hopefully.

Free did a pretty fair job against Allen on short notice. I think he’ll do just fine at LT this year.

Free will be just fine
As many have said, he is even better suited to play on the left with his quick feet, agility, long arms. If most were satisfied by his performance on the right, then be more confident in his ability on the left as his skill set is better suited for that side.
If we’re gonna worry about anyone on the line, I, personally, would worry about columbo and whether or not he will be able to perform up to what we expect from him for 16+ games. He looked like a worthless chump againt minny, free and Allen were very competitive against each other with Allen giving Witten way more trouble than he gave free. Factor in the fact that Allen is a “power, leverage” rusher and not a “finesse/speed” rusher, which is who free really excels in defending, not power rushers (which of all them, Allen is the best), (deep breath) and we can conclude that Doug free will be successful for us on the future.

Off subject
Alex Barron for carp???? just saw it on PFT
You guys better hope he'll do fine
If he craps the bed against the pass-rushers of the NFC East and the NFC North next year, Romo will be forced to develop a taste for turf next year.

It's not trolling
But I’m keeping my expectations way low. If he does a great job I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
