Duke Preston Retires

I just read that Duke Preston has decided to retire to attend divinity school, so his roster spot will be open this year.  I wish him the very best in his endeavors.  Here's the link:

And for the sake of the 75-word minimum, here's a quote:

"As Barron arrives, another Cowboys offensive lineman departs. Duke Preston will retire and attend divinity school, the office of agent Craig Domann said.

Preston was inactive for 17 games with the Cowboys last season after being picked up from Green Bay late in training camp. The Cowboys had offered Preston a contract for this season."

So long Duke!

We hardly knew you! Good luck in Divinity school, that’s pretty cool.

Although we never had much to go on

Losing Preston is a major blow if only for increasing the likelihood that Procter sticks around.

Maybe Procter will retire to focus on his music career.

So pardon my disposition; why should I listen to a system that never listened to me?

I wonder if that band makes it harder to cut Proctor...

I guess this means we hope and pray Holland can learn how to snap the ball adequately

The idea of Proctor sticking around for another year is really disturbing.

Holland or Bright

They’re giving them and a couple new UDFA’s snaps at Center during the camps. Houck is already referring to Bright as a Center and Guard.

Bright is another one of those guys I'm looking forward to reading about during training camp

Along with Brewster and now Barron. Even if they just replace guys like Proctor and McQuistan, it’s a huge relief.

I’m actually turning a bit optimistic when it comes to our O line depth. We have two guys who should compete for the starting LT job, both having enough experience starting at RT to step in should something happen there. That alone puts us in a position similar to last year. If we can get better depth at G and C, we could be much better going into this season than we were last year…other than the whole old line being one year older thing…

Agreed

I’d love to see Brewster, Bright and one of our new UDFA’s be able to replace Davis, Gurode and/or Kosier this season or next.

Free, this time last year

Think back a year ago. Doug Free was just another huge unknown, one of the several names tossed out there with McQ and Proctor and Marten and a worry and a hope and a shrug, as guys we knew precious little about in discussing our oline depth and future.

Fast forward to February, Flozell is gone and Doug Free is the new starter at one of the most important positions on the team.

Please let Brewster or Bright be the next Doug Free!

I'll be praying

that someone moves past proctor and takes his backup spot. Linemen don’t make many plays but can make great blocks, which I have never seen proctor do. Plenty of horrible blocks and plays though.

Tony Romo off in dat hole, Watch roll and watch him throw, Watch him lead dem cowboys to the super bowl, now watch me "yua!" crank dat cowboys, Now watch me "yua!" crank dat cowboys, Now watch me "yua!" crank dat cowboys, Now watch me "yua!" crank dat cowboys!
