"Moooose(!)" Johnston recently shared his thoughts on the Cowboys running back situation:
As you guys know I'm a big locker-room-chemistry kind of guy. The team seemed very tight. You heard about the work ethic and maturity of players like Martellus Bennett. Felix Jones, really improving this year, which I thought was really kind of scary. It's like, he's like, vastly improved from what he was last year. I think he is going to add a dimension thats going to really scare some defensive coaches around the NFL.
[snip]
I think Felix, because of his big-play potential, has earned the right to have more snaps, especially early in the game. I think Marion's strength is taking time off the clock late in the game. But that doesn't mean he's a third- or fourth-quarter back. I think he needs his touches in the first half, too. Tashard has shown that he deserves more touches. It's a great position for Jason Garrett to be in and it's a difficult situation to try to make everyone happy.

Someone tinkle in your Wheaties this morning?
I was going to post something sarcastic like "Did Moose really use the words “maturity” and “Maretellus Bennett” in the same sentence?" Because..I didn’t know. And yes, I am a Cowboys fan.
"The greatest test of courage on earth is to bear defeat without losing heart."
That was unnecessary.
Anything said above is purely the opinion of AFB unless said otherwise.

read the entire article and you might learn something you didn’t already know. Aaron only included a couple snipets from the article. Copy and pasting the entire article is frowned on…even with a link.
I for one didn’t know Moose’s thoughts on the potential 18 game season. I didn’t know he played a lot of baseball. I knew he didn’t like Training Camp, but I never heard the specifics why before now. And he brings up some good points about the shortened Pre-season.
Thanks for posting this Aaron (although DMN is one of my daily stops anyways ;) ).
Rabid and luvin' it
That's what we've all been waiting for, right?
For Martellus to step up. For MartyB to come in with a renewed attitude of having his best year ever is not good news for the rest of the NFL. You can thank John Phillips as much as anyone for this. Marty saw some of his reps going to the rook last year, and it was a wake up call for him. If he follows through, it is a very good thing for the Cowboys. For two years I’ve marveled at what Martellus could be if he gave his very best.
Felix Jones, really improving this year, which I thought was really kind of scary.
Hmmm. Really improving from one of the best home run hitters in the league? With Felix it has always been more of a function of just staying healthy. If he’s healthy, he’s a threat any time he’s on the field.
When I die I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my Grandfather -- not screaming like the passengers in his car.
I'm a mind reader this morning, and that's what Moose meant.
By “improving” he means Felix has added muscle up top without losing speed. More strength, same speed. Watch out.

As much as I bitch about getting Choice touches...
there are just too many talented offensive weapons on this team, especially with the addition of Bryant. He’s likely just a really good insurance policy here, which is good to have.
Or, get him the touches and have Barber be that "really good insurance"
The Past is past, and at this point, Choice is a better back than Barber, and should play more, regardless of style , past performance, and contract.

I agree with you wholeheartedly
but for some reason their RB coach seems to be in love with Barber. I guess Garrett and Wade think that Barber getting the majority of the carries is what’s best for this team.
or Jerry thinks that playing Barber is getting his money's worth

We'll find out if the "healthy, lighter" Barber works out
I’ve got nothing against the guy, love his attitude, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
And Choice is so good, and really in that prime age now. Take advantage!

All the weapons make me nothing but estatic.
If we play to our potential , as always, we will dominate games. All comes down to leadership in our coaching staff and our star players (which I think we saw the beginning of last year). Lookin’ forward to the season!

I think it all comes down to the O-line
We know we have the weapons, we know we have the defense, we know we have the will, and we know we have good coaches.
But the one thing that can sink this ship are replays of the Metrodome Meltdown. If the O-line can’t give Romo time, none of our weapons can be used.
So let’s all hope the O-line can hold together for an entire season.

Very true
I think Free is the real thing, but he’ll have to prove it when it counts. The rest of the line better kick it up a notch. I’m happy there are some promising young guys to push the vets. I’ve heard nothing about Brewster all off-season, but I hope to see him get some reps in preseason.
Felix to start, a splash of Choice at all times, Barber to hammer coffin shut
Just like ’07. Barber is best when a defense is tired and needs to be put down.
Greetings from the Humungus, the Ruler of the Wasteland, the Ayatollah of Rock and Roll-A. I laugh at your puny plans.
i don't care as much about this as i care about this
if barber is hurt, for the LOVE OF GOD, play choice! mb3 is still a weapon when healthy. he’s still a decent back when hurt. choice is better than decent. simple as that.
YES, A THOUSANDTIMES YES!
