Guaranteed Controversy Alert
Dallas plays Cincinnati in eleven days.
How many times do you predict that you'll see Dez Bryant, new Bengal Terrell Owens and the word "controversy" in the same headlines in the days leading up to the game and in the broadcast story lines?
Don't say you weren't warned.

The Over/Under?
I’d start the line at about 20.
One more reason to turn down the volume on the television.
Haha, and his 3rd preseason game is against Philly, 4th game is against Buffalo. His preseason is like a T.O. reunion tour.
Formerly Bye, Dawk :(
Has any other Hall-of-Famer (or lock for the HOF)
In the modern era played for 5 teams?

Eric Dickerson maybe?
I can’t recall how many teams

Four
So sayeth the Wikipedia. He was traded to a fifth but didn’t pass the physical.
"Only the strong survive, but the strong still get their ass whipped." -Nick Saban
I dont know why people really hate him that much.....
He’s just a player who speaks his mind and hates loosing….never been a problem outside the field. To me T.O is OK and I wish he would still be a part of our team. 10 TD and 1000 yards is much better than the crap we’re getting from RW2
You think TO would take a back seat to Miles and Dez? Seriously?
The laughable thing is TO still thinks he is an elite (Top 10) receiver…
On the radio hee in Nashville he said he's not a number one anymore
he thinks he’s a number two or could be a number two. It was something tlike that.
by Musiccitynorm on Jul 27, 2010 9:10 PM CDT up reply actions
Wow! Never though TO would experience personal growth.
But it took being cut by the Cowboys, Bills, and having few opportunities this season to arrive at that growth…and the point still stands, if he was never cut from the Cowboys, he would never take a backseat to Miles and Dez. I think Jerry used the right word…progress stopper…
why would he have to?????? wasnt he putting #1 WR numbers for us?
Wasnt he helping out Hurd after practices?….dude, really…….T.O is an issue if a team is loosing, in that case it really doesnt matter where the “issue” comes from because the real issue was the loosing……..was Randy Moss the reason why Oakland was loosing???…..
Where do I start?
He wasn’t a dominant receiver his final year here. He had so many games where his production was almost non existent. TO was a good team mate as long as it didn’t affect his touches. TO was one of the issues we didn’t make the playoffs in 2008. The more important issue was Romo’s injuries, but the rift he tried to create within the team took it’s toll as well. Randy Moss lost in Oakland because he didn’t have much of a team around him. If TO was still so good, why couldn’t he make Edwards look at least respectable?
Not even God couldve made that team look good......please.
But you’ll see what Cinci will look like.
TO is declining fast
He doesn’t have the speed or skills anymore. Sure, he’s better than Roy. But Roy is one of the all time biggest failures in the history of the Cowboys… not quite a great measuring stick
by Blue Eyed Devil on Jul 27, 2010 9:37 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions
Roy was brought in to replace owens becuase of Owens' age....
So that’s why I compare Roy to Owens. If we wuldve kept Owens and not traded for Roy, we would ave the same deal we have today…..Owens, Miles, Dez, Crayton, Hurd, Ogletree.
Miles would have never reached any of his current potential if we didn't cut TO, so it wouldn't be the same.
Mies became Miles when Roy got hurt for one game. Miles couldve become Mles any time Crayton or Owens woldve gotten hurt.....
we didint need to vut Owens and bring RW for Miles to develop.
There's a lot of bad things I can say about Roy, but one is being a bad team mate.
He handled Mile’s rise with a whole lot of grace and allowed Miles to easily assume the #1 spot…it would have been great drama if TO would have been asked to take a lesser role to Miles. Remember the vist to Garrett’s office in 2008…it would have been office visit the sequel…

huh?
Roy still thinks he`s a number 1!!! the best thing I can say about Roy is he`s no progress stopper and he won`t impede Dez`s path to the starting role.
Roy still thinks he's a #1 caliber WR...no problem with that.
But what he conceded was #1 spot on the DC receiver depth…he took a back seat to Miles…
I don't think TO has ever really put up any numbers for anybody else except for
Me, Myself and I.
TO and some fans looked back last year after the door hit him on the way out, but that was early last year. Then came Austin and the rest as most of us saw it is history.
Me I love the present Miles, Witten, Dez, RW and either Phillips or Bennett. TO who?
Woodson is a Hall of Famer!!!

In 2005, the Eagles were coming off a Super Bowl appearance, were basically returning the same team, and had a boatload of draft picks. Things were looking really good.
And what happened? Terrell Owens (with a major assist from Drew Rosenhaus) felt that the 7 year, $49 million contract he signed just ONE year earlier wasn’t nearly enough for his services. He then proceeded to singlehandedly destroy that season for Philly.
And personally, I’m not so sure T.O. gets into the Hall right away. There are absolutely writers/voters that do not like him, and they could very well make the case that he did more harm than good for the teams he played for.

+1 TO will get in the hall eventually, but he will have to wait.
Voters from SF, Philly, and Dallas will be lukewarm at best in supporting him
Lifetime Cowboys Fan from the Swamps of Jersey
My Beer Blog: http://tiltingsuds.wordpress.com/
From my prospective (Cowboys Fan)
Terrell felt he had a right to blow up the team. Heck we injured him in a December game and he worked off his ass to be healthy for the Super Bowl. So what happens next? Simple, Donovan McNabb folds like a piece of paper in the final portions of Super Bowl 39 and causes Philadelphia to lose the game. Like it or not, he is just affirming what Rush Limbaugh said about the media falling in love with a black quarterback. TO seen that McNabb wasn’t the best of quarterbacks NFL wise and that affirms Rush’s statement against him. That beef wasn’t with the Eagles and Owens. It was between Owens and McNabb and the Eagles chose McNabb. Lucky for us, Philadelphia dumped him on our doorstep and he never caused any real problems. Well except for the “suicide attempt,” but that was to feed his ego.
It's a certainty for the headlines...but anyone even slightly informed knows it's an empty controversy.
The starters will likely not play more than a couple series, TO is no longer the best receiver on the field (or on his own team), and the Cowboys have left TO behind…I think TO looks stupid if he attempts to make any grandiose statements.
Just woke up (not in the States)
So T.O. is a Bengal, huh?
COWBOYS FOOTBALL IN ELEVEN DAYS? :D
Before you ask why I'm a fan of both the Cowboys and Jets, I'll just say the answer is complicated and that it just turned out that way.

Last it was fun discussing the biggest NON-issues
of the preseason.
My big ones were punts hitting the scoreboard and competition for starting CB between jenkins and scandrick.
this year, so far, carry the pads-gate seems to be well ahead.
But the media will find something else to bark about soon.
BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK
It was one
And the Tennessee Punter had to make an effort just to reach the scoreboard. Emmitt Smith sure picked a horrible year to enter the hall of fame. Next we will have Brett Farve’s decision, (ESPN is already camping at MSP International (Twin Cities)) Dez Bryant will be forced to do the laundry, and ESPN will treat the Hall of Fame Game like it was the NFC Championship.
Ironic...
that the one punter who hit it was no longer in the NFL the last I checked.

Law and Order: SVU
“rape”
“rapist”
“sexual assault”
“sexually assaulted”
“murder”
“murderer”
“murdered”
“detective”
“SVU”
“We’re detectives Benson and Stabler from SVU investigating the rape and murder of a woman,” is a sentence not uncommon to the show. Damn difficult.
Cowboys? Ummm, I can’t wait to see Dez Bryant in action!
Before you ask why I'm a fan of both the Cowboys and Jets, I'll just say the answer is complicated and that it just turned out that way.
Yes but why won't detective Benson and DA Novak drop the pretenses and make out already?
That’s a very special episode I’d actually tune into.
I think your right but
I don’t want anyone putting Dez into the TO category. Seriously, not carrying stuff for a teammate is in the same league as everything TO has done over the years? While we’re at it I’ll just link to the greatest youtube video of all time, because it’s loosely related to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNO6On7cK1M
Back to Dez. He hasn’t done anything wrong, all he’s done is been the subject of the latest media overreaction. And i really hate Skip Bayless and I feel dirty with myself for agreeing with a tweet of his but I have to:
RealSkipBayless
Did you notice Wade Phillips stuck up for Dez Bryant and made anti-hazing statement? Brad Childress has banned hazing. Enlightened coaches.
Hazing is archaic and anyone who chooses not to participate in it is simply going with the times.

I'm going to have to watch this one with mute on
it would be fascinating I think, to talk about all the great WRs on the field, if this were a real NFL game. 5 legit NFL WRs in one game is pretty exciting but the BS stories that will surround this one will distract me from analyzing the 3rd stringers I will never see again

Owens may not be the 4th best WR that day
But it’ll bring the pub and Jerry always likes that.
On a side note, saw this DMN headline:
“Woman suspected as Russian spy under house arrest in Plano”
Guess we know why White Wolf is posting less.

Sometimes ESPN (and other "news" outlets) remind me of the Wizard of Oz
pulling levers and twisting knobs for great affect and to steer you in a certain direction of thinking. Whatever happened to good old honest reporting anyway? Now it’s mostly TMZ style crap.
On a side note, RIP Mr Tatum..I disliked your team back in the day but you were certainly a beast on the field. The guy was a highlight reel unto himself!

TMZ is good though about breaking news fast
They’ve impressed me with their validity and speed. For example, they were the first to break the most recent Rothlesberger rape news

Yeah I'll give em that. It's just the style of delivery..I'm just not a fan of it. Too much sensationalism IMO

I actually want to watch this game.
I have always liked T.O. and that probably has something to do with him never playing for the Saints.

As much as I love the Cowboys I hate the media just as much
From PTI to Ed Worthless, it was just ridiculous. They are so anxious for a story of Dez self-destructing. The only thing they like more than an icon is a villain.
Greetings from the Humungus, the Ruler of the Wasteland, the Ayatollah of Rock and Roll-A. I laugh at your puny plans.
Icon/villain
Either way they’re “good”.
