Dez Bryant's ankle injured?!
ESPN is reporting on their bottom line that Dez Bryant was carried off the practice field today because of an ankle injury - Anyone out there hear something more definitive? It's not like ESPN reports things that are completely exagerrated (snicker) but this could be a huge blow if he couldn't even walk off the field.
Perhaps starting camp so early might give him time to heal up a bit, but we sure can't afford to have a rookie WR miss significant time.

He has a MRI scheduled for later
He came back out under his own power and signed Autos. They are saying sprain. Pray it is not a high Ankle sprain
Any sprain is going to suck for him
I’ve sprained each of my ankles close to 10 times (damn basketball) and it takes forever before it feels the same again.
Good Idea
I will pray for him..along with all the rest. Hard surface is tough on bodys. Positive news that he was able to walk out, and nice of him to keep signing for the fans day after day. Door may open for another to step up and have a good future.
Golden Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules.
Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant, the team’s first-round selection, suffered a sprained right ankle near the end of practice and will undergo an MRI on Friday night to determine the severity of the injury.
Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said the prized rookie will miss some practice time. Jones expressed optimism that Bryant would not be sidelined much longer than a few days.
League sources, however, said Bryant most likely suffered a high ankle sprain, which would mean that Bryant would be out significantly longer.
[…]
The injury occurred after cornerback Orlando Scandrick broke up a pass intended for Bryant on the second-to-last play of practice. Backup quarterback Jon Kitna threw the ball slightly behind Bryant on a crossing route, and Scandrick made a good play on the ball and landed on Bryant’s leg.
Hate hearing high ankle sprain, but if he came back out to sign autographs later is a good sign that’s it’s perhaps not…
Hmmm conflicting reports.
Sucks but if it’s going to happen might as well be early.

Yahoo says its a high ankle sprain
Cowboys rookie receiver Dez Bryant(notes) could miss the rest of training camp after the first-round draft pick suffered a high right ankle sprain near the end of practice Friday. The team said he will be out four to six weeks.
Bryant became entangled with cornerback Orlando Scandrick(notes) while trying to catch a pass that was thrown behind him on the next-to-last play of the day. It quickly became apparent that something was wrong.
Bryant didn’t immediately get up, and when he finally did gingerly get to his feet while taking his helmet off, he took only a step before falling back to the turf. Bryant was reaching for his ankle and grimacing in obvious pain. Two trainers who checked on him helped him off the field. Though the Cowboys have an extended camp with five preseason games because of their game in Canton, Ohio, next weekend, the injury could keep Bryant from playing until the regular season. The last preseason game is at home Sept. 2, which is five weeks away. The season opener is Sept. 12 at Washington.

I am going to be so bumbed if this kid missees too much time...
…I have such a good feeling about him and injuries are the quickest way to ruin that.
The NFC East has won 11 Super Bowls; oddly none of those have come courtesy of the Eagles.
That's OK
Time to put Ogletree in the x! Let’s go Cowboys!

We are still fine
Even though Dez is an amazing talent and will help the team alot we still have a great recieving corps and will be fine. No need to rush him back but it will be great to see him play when they do get him back.
This is why Crayton can't leave
It’s a shame…I was excited to see Dez in action August 18th.
Is there any other Cowboys fan out there who will gladly take Tony Romo over Aaron Rodgers any day?
not to mention
that Miles Austin has 1 injury free season under his belt.
Yup
Time to put away all the anointing oils.
Roy Williams gets to the pro bowl after injuries to the roster? Patrick Crayon the alternate! Time to eat crow guys lol.

If this is the eventual scenario
Then does this mean either Marty B or Tashard Choice becomes Super Bowl MVP?
Never underestimate the power of a neck brace and wheelchair. In Donnie Walsh I trust!
This isn't really surprising.
Dez Bryant was going to be a high injury risk this first season. Missing the last year of college, and he tends to go 100% in practice. Last season, 2/3 of our class didn’t see the field, mostly due to injuries.
I think Dez will still make an impact in an Ogletree role and on special teams. Maybe by the end of this year, he will be able to make a strong contribution.
They need to throttle down the rookies and coach them to pace themselves a bit
Hard to contribute if you’re on IR.

They need to throttle down Scandrick...
this is the 2nd consecutive training camp he has injured a receiver.
Scandrick was all over him on that play
but he was just trying to knock the ball down. If anyone is to blame it’s Jon Kitna for throwing that pass low and behind him. Can’t really blame anyone though. This sort of stuff happens. 4-6 weeks isn’t all that bad since we have 5 weeks til the season starts. Sucks to miss all that valuable TC time though for a rookie.
Nah
That’s how it goes…
You can’t ask players to be LESS aggressive especially when DB turnovers are the thing people are looking most at this year.
Can’t fault O-Scan.

they need to change something
Obviously, rookies are going to get hurt more often, but this is ridiculous.
My brother says he was injured during combine or something
Since I don’t follow college football all that closely, I don’t follow combines and such so I don’t know if that’s true, but man, this guy could have an injury bug flying around him.
Is there any other Cowboys fan out there who will gladly take Tony Romo over Aaron Rodgers any day?
Dez wasn't injured during the combine. He skipped it and did a private workout for NFL teams.
It didn’t go as well as expected, and he showed up with the wrong shoes, IIRC.
Yes he was, but it wasn't an ankle
It was his hamstring that kept him out of the combine.
He did twist his ankle in one of the OTA’s though back in May.
Eh, on the up side
Even if it’s a full six weeks, depending on how much he can absorb and such, he still has a very good chance to contribute since we started so early and everything…Well, hope springs eternal, anyway.
God Bless Texas
My only optimism in all of this
Is that he’s looked so good after just one week of camp, which leads me to believe that he’ll pretty much be good any time he’s on the field, regardless of if he had the usual prescribed practice sessions and such. He obviously understands the playbook enough to perform well in Camp, so why would he be any worse on opening day than he is right now? The optimist in my still says I can expect a few catches for close to 50 yards in Week 1 from him. The pessimist in my says this will set back his entire season. Hopefully the optimist in me is right.
well the problem is
they are going to have to stick him in an Ogletree type role for the first month at least. You just can’t have a guy out there who doesn’t know the playbook well – we can’t have TWO Roy Williamses on the field.
Wait til the mri guys
Its a ploy by the team so no one game plans for him watch out skins! Dez is coming
Or he will have super human healing problems like that super hero… Wolv..err I mean TO!!
Either case he’ll be ready by week one count it
Really?! Really?!

It's not the end of the world
I just want him to rest it up. I’d rather have Dez for 14 games at full strength than 16 games at 85-90% strength. High ankle sprains can last a long time. I wanna see this kid, but not at the risk of more damage.
Take your time, Dez. We’ll be waiting to see ya!
at least this didnt happen

WRs P. Harvin and D. Jackson carted off field
a bad week for NFC contender WRs…
neither injury seems too serious, but both guys were carted off
They get carted off
And are at worst, day-to-day.
Dez limps off and is out for 4-6 weeks.
The universe has no logic when it comes to football I guess.
Eagles fan here...
Desean Jackson was carted off with a back injury… wtf
